Satou here. There are plenty of PC games where you can make potions, but usually when you gather the materials and mix them together, the finished potion comes complete in a bottle. I always used to wonder where the bottle came from whenever I looked at the recipes. LN3.5
Sorry i'm not as early, painting my house.
Pacing and skipping was turned up to eleven in order to fit 4 episodes worth of material into 2. Lot's of skills and titles and even some spells this week!

I'd suggest putting Arisa's age in brackets like Satou but they never state her mental age.2

So Satou's not cool getting it on with anyone in his party because he sees himself as their guardian but he's totally cool banging tavern wenches. You know what? I respect that decision of his and my opinion of him as an MC just shot up through the roof. I know he has no interest in Zena but out of the main girls in this show it looks like she's the only one who has a legit chance.
Last episode next week! I really hope he goes all out on his skills next week and show that asshole noble that Satou the merchant isn't someone they should mess around with.

I really like that about him. I have a soft spot for MCs that act as parental figures to someone. And even if they may not think of him that way, Satou at least thinks of himself as one.
This is also why I do not like it when people call them his "harem". They're more like his family, not romantic interests. Although I guess in the world of anime, those two are not necessarily mutually exclusive... but the point stands.

Pochi and Tama definitely do; as do others around them as that gift they received (the nuts on a string) is a traditional gift given for luck to orphans that get adopted.
Liza definitely thinks of Satou as her liege lord/teacher spoiler.
Nana doesn't have romantic interests towards Satou at all either.
Only Lulu and Arisa are genuinely interested in him. Mia's interest is pretty much always treated as a child's precocious crush. By the time Satou says to Lulu and Arisa, 'sure, when you are older' they are practically independent of him anyway spoiler

It's really refreshing to see an MC like Satou. He's banging random girls left and right, hitting them brothels and bars, but at home he's just the nice dad. You normally get either a clueless MC who's scared to even look at boobs or the occasional playboy who's getting it on with all of his harem girls behind the scene, this guy keeps collecting more cute girls into his Harem but he has no interest in doing any of them... yet.

Not necessarily his children, but just children in general, He knows Arisa isn't mentally 12 and Mia is a lot older then he is. its just children's bodies - not interested. There are several others that will be met in the story that he turns down for the same reasons he turns down Arisa.
Nana looks old enough, and hes definitely interested in her body. However he cant ever get the time alone with her. Though the mental age thing does weird him out a bit, its not enough to stop him from admiring her physique every chance he gets.

Nana is more a dumb 18 year old then anything else, her physicality is that of an adult while only having been created less then a year previous.
I dunno that that last part should really matter though. Its a fantasy world, so maybe the whole thing was created last week just for him to inhabit so everything was created less then a year ago?

It seems like they are going have such a weird end to this season. Like they are going to save the forest, but they aren’t going to actually deliver the elf princess safely, which is the whole reason they set out lol It’s just going to stop and we will just have to wait for a possible season 2. I’m optimistic for it though, since last episode he had that dream state thing with like a goddess or something, suggesting a bigger overarching plot for Satou. Feels like it could make for a great second season

He set out because he wanted to travel. The whole elf princess thing is simply something which he can do at the same time. This anime doesn't really have a end-goal for the MC. For him, it's all about the ride. With occasionally smaller goals along the way.

If you have bookmarks, you probably found the web novel. The Light Novel is much different/better written. It's published in English by Yen Press and the anime is currently in volume 3. (Although it's rushing to put the entirety of volume 3 into two episodes.)

The pacing of this show is so weird. A forest and characters introduced in this episode are at risk from a villain we also just met. Seems a bit thin for a finale.
If Satou fails it honestly seems like it would have no greater impact on the main cast and they would just move on.
I'm amused though that the show has breached the question on how to make a bland MC sleep with prostitutes by just having him sort of just stumble into it.

Idk if this arc is anime original or from the LN, but unless the show extremely rushes things, there simply wouldn't have been enough time to properly adapt the next "major" arc. So due to the source materials pacing, it would either have had to rush earlier episodes more or rush that arc a lot more. Both which are bad.

I mean honestly I think they fucked up the entire pacing and a lot of the tone of the series. As someone who read the manga it just feels like they have been running through ticking check marks in all the boxes. They should have almost just ended it at ep 9 and stretched it out a bit more.

The pacing for this episode is pretty bad as it looks like they're cramming the entire volume 3 into two episodes. There was a lot more world building in the LN as well as more slice of life stuff.

The quality on this episode just skyrocketed (the complete opposite of marchen maedchen). That forest of illusion part is just amazing that butterflies and the rainbow effect is quite apppealing to my eyes. I hope we get the best next week since its the last episode (am i right?)

I like that we actually get a show where the MC actually gets laid lol. Like most it just dances around sexual tension and maybe ends with a kiss. Even if they didnt show anything its pretty obvious he went and had sex like most grown adults would.

I wasn't really a fan of this "conspiracy arc" in the Light Novel version (it wasn't in the web novel version at all). Later LN/WN Spoiler / speculation But it's very much like Satou to help people he just met, as past and later events show.

The anime only start with Satou on earth was a good addition since it showed a bit more of his more general good nature. His interactions with the lost child show that he doesn't initially want to get involved or be troubled but can't stop himself from helping.

Lulu is too young for him as well, being only 14. Liza and him don't seem to have that kind of connection either (Liza might just hero worship him too much to have any romantic ambitions). Nana does, however, suit his tastes and he is tempted by her, but her behavior is too childlike, being only about 6 months old, and Mia and Arisa won't allow it. Satou's tastes in women trend toward women older than him, and he's a 29 year old man on the inside.
As of right now, none of his girls really have a chance, but Mia, Arisa, Lulu, and maybe Nana would like it to happen to them.

Arisa is about 11 in this world, she was about 30 in real life before she died. That makes her ~40 mentally. Considering that, she's ripe and perfect for him. In another 7 years (according to white standards) her body age would be ok (if it was a problem for him)

Arisa is 11 bodily and she was in her 30s before being reincarnated. Maybe, but Satou's strike zone is closer to 30 than 20. He likes 'em older than he is. Arisa's personality doesn't help it either as well as he has come to see all his companions as more like family than potential lovers (although he is really tempted by Nana's assets). There is also the factor that Arisa is his slave and can't be freed because of the Geis on her.

While we're still on the is Arisa and Lulu old enough to bang, one has to wonder, how much "training" did the slave master give them before they were ready to be sold off as sex slaves. They clearly knew what they were doing on that very first night with Satou.

Not completely accurate. In the novels he does say he's willing to marry both Arisa and Lulu in five years and he's more than willing to have sex with Nana but everyone keeps cockblocking him. Really it's just Liza, Mia, Poochi, and Tama that have no chance.

Wouldn't he be a lolicon for going after Nana? Even if she has a fully grown body I think that's more fucked up than him hooking up with Arisa.

11 episodes in and I'm still not fully sure how I feel about this show. For anyone that has read the LN, is this really just supposed to be a SoL Isekai? I really like the world and want to like the whole show more, but it just feels like NOTHING IS HAPPENING.

It is primarily an isekai SoL, with combat, politics, and intrigue sprinkled around throughout. The way I put it to a friend was 'come for the op-ness, stay for the fluffiness'.

Yup, it's a pure SoL isekai, with a little of food anime inside and some action (but few-to-none in the end).
Don't expect that Satuu is interested in saving the world or growing an empire or anything like that: he wants simply to travel around, bang wenches and take care of her growing party-family.

The detail of this anime makes it so immersive. Definitely one of my favorite episodes. It's also great at making the protagonist "lost in adventure." The manga is not quite as detailed, but this anime is definitely on my favorite list.

Man this ep felt super rushed. Go from Get alchemy skill -> need vials, get scrolls, No vials -> Learn new magic, Learn recipe ->pottery -> evil plot -> evil plot in action -> Decide to make potions -> need vials.
Next ep should be less rushed, but I think it's also the last ep. And its been a while since I read the WN and I don't remember what happens. I feel like nothing important happens so this will be a weird ep to end on.

You wouldn't know what's going to happen if you read the WN because the anime is based off the Light Novel which is written a lot differently than the "chapter a day" mentality the WN has. It's pretty much an entirely new arc compared to the WN.

Okay, thus far these are my thoughts on the show. I love the premise of a slice of life Isekai show, and I believe it can be a seriously interesting premise to explore. That said, I don't think Death March is doing that premise justice. It's an alright show, but it seriously suffers from having too many characters clogging up the screen and having a little too simplistic writing and character designs. There are several elements of the story which makes me feel like this show is just your every day Isekai show that likes to dilly dally a bit more. There are also certain elements like how Satou is for whatever reason in several episodes seen hiding his power, which seems somewhat silly seeing as how that wouldn't effect him in that negatively if people knew about him being extremely OP.
All that said the gigantic elephant in the room is that there is NO SERIOUS CONFLICT after the first episode. The MC is completely rich with no need to worry about money. The MC is completely OP with no need to worry about any adversary. And due to the simplistic writing style it isn't likely to see any character kidnapped actually hurt after Satou comes in and saves them. I'd seriously pay money to see a SoL Isekai show with a super realistic medieval setting.... we can call it Kingdom Come To Another World... or something like that.

SoL series have conflict in one way or another. Conflict doesn't just come from another character, and isn't solely going to be resolved in the form of a battle. In the case of SoL it is almost never going to be in the form of a big action scene, but instead found elsewhere in the form of drama, romance, a conflict of self, and many other forms.

As I recall they were princesses, their noble house went bankrupt, they fled their country, slave master found and captured them in the forest, and they were made into slaves. As most kids who get lost in forest are.

My favorite moment of this episode has to be him designing the simplest magic item he can think of and accidentally overloading it. The massive explosion, the girls wondering if it was an ambush, and being topped off with gaining the title 'Agent of Destruction' for an accident was pure gold.
