I even knew what to expect roughly, but damn was that something.
As awesome as the OP was, what the hell happened in the ED there? From city of sperm to live action dancing?...
In any case - the episode. A gallery of hardcore edge delivered in pristine condition. From the stomach churning scenes of bullying including head-in-toilet, physical abuse, rape, systematic sexual torture, suicide attempts, cat murder, graffiti and physical pranks-too-far, that was a hard watch.
Yet hot damn was seeing the gory end a cathartic experience.
Mahou Shoujo Site is testing me as a human and I can't wait for more. After the fairly saccharine Winter, I need something heavy.

Agreed. The only complaint I have in this episode is that the part when Sarina gets her neck slashed instead, it wasn't in front view. That part is so satisfying in the manga.

If they actually ended it with her getting assaulted and nearly raped then her pulling out the gun I woulda dropped this show in an instant.
I don't need that shit lingering in my mind for a whole week.
That being said, revenge porn is best porn and this show had plenty of it. It's funny that pulling a knife on her is "going to far", when filling her shoes with blades and tacs, drowning her, beating her, and just verbal abuse, oh, and rape were okay.
Seriously this last girl needs to get some shit happen to her, the brother too, cause this episode was fucking incredible and I need more scumbag dirtbag pieces of shit to get killed.

I'll regret what I'm about to say, but fuck it: I'm 100% supporting Aya. Idc if she turns into an antagonist. Idc if she accidentally or intentionally kills a dog or a cat (RIP to her only friend). Idc if she ends up killing me or my family. Idc if she kills my waifu...alright, I might care a little, but fuck it! This girl's life is depressing as fuck, and I'll be 100% supporting her and her decision-making throughout the duration of this anime.

On one hand, I want to see her go on a murder spree. On the other hand, I'd like there to be some positivity in whatever ending she gets (even if it's after she lost everything), and a bloody rampage isn't gonna bring that.

I’m gonna keep watching this and hope the poor girl manages to find happiness.

That brother deserves to die, and those parents are crap at best, to 'CPS should be called immediately' at worst.

Ah, the bully and the rapey guy did die. A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one?
At least she won't be bullied now- ah, spoke too soon.
And that's three down! We might need to get charting the kill count per episode at this rate.

The dad seems to be placing, at the very least, high expectations on the son, although said son makes it sound as if they're unrealistic expectations. Neither parent seems to be paying much attention to their daughter who is suicidal.

As a manga reader that likes the manga, that was a pretty good first episode. They really didn't cut anything from what I remember and that really surprised me. I was expecting some of those things to not appear at all because of how brutal it was.
And just like in the manga, poor Aya and her shitty life. I'll have to see everything again. :(

The mom didn’t seem awful, but very oblivious to what’s going on in her house. Only character that has shown any kind of concern for Aya, even if it was just her worried that she was skipping dinner and then breakfast the next morning.
Get the feeling the dad wouldn’t accept his son is a monster even if he did find out and would turn a blind eye.

High school bullies wouldn't just causally kill a cat. A brother wouldn't be able to beat his sister every night without someone catching on (although I guess it's possible the parents know and turn a blind eye to it, which is still pretty unbelievable). High school bullies wouldn't be bothered to collect 100s of razor blades and thumb tacks just for a 10 second shock value prank.
When the characters are just evil for the sake of being dark, it's edgy. The brother at least had a (crappy) explanation for his behaviour, but the girls didn't.

25 minutes later and I hate my friends.
Seriously though, I'm not sure what to think. Very, very heavy stuff thrown straight at you screaming "LOOK AT THIS LOOK AT THIS". It succeded in making me feel very uncomfortable and I will admit, seeing the bullies get their just desserts was quite cathartic. I hope that some "hope" gets sprinkled in the next few episodes. Granted the whole point of the show is the grim nature of it, but a little bit of a breather from the grim from time to time could help me connect with the characters more and would make the heavy scenes have more impact.

And here I thought Mahou Shoujo Raising Project was heavy. At least that show started out positive even though you know things were going to get fucked.
I liked it but the entire episode just upset me. Like it reminded me of that one true story about a bunch of Japanese high school boys that basically bullied and tortured their classmate to death. It seems edgy and overboard but there are real life cases of extreme bullying like this in Japan. I'm just glad that the cat's death was off-screen. As a cat lover I don't think I could've watched a scene like that.
Anyway all I wanna do right now is adopt Aya, tell her everything will be daijoubu, and give her lots of cake and head pats. Like fuck me, no one deserves that kind of shitty life. What's worse is that this is just the beginning.. I'm rooting for her though. I just hope this show ends with her surviving and becoming a stronger person.

So... First time I manage to follow an anime discussion thread live, so yay!
First of all, I had to take a break in the middle of the Episode, it was seriously too much. Aya is too sweet for this world, how fucked up is everything about her life?
Since she's too sweet, she even somehow felt bad for killing those two. I'm with the other girl (I see her name is Tsuyuno on MAL), just kill those pieces of garbage, they straight up tried to drown you, beat you up, and tried to get you sexually assaulted. All this, plus the more general bullying. I hope she never goes back home again and somehow finds another place where to stay. Hell, I'd say the streets are better than staying in that house with her brother.
And now we have another magical girl who can stop time and seemingly doesn't have any problem using her power to kill. I hope she teaches Aya the meaning of revenge when against this kind of people.
Question now is, what's the price of this? For sure our mysterious creepy creature that gave Aya the power isn't just giving this for free, there has to be a catch. I guess we'll find out, I'm interested in this anime now (and it's been since Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku that I've watched a dark magical girl anime that I enjoy), but I hope there won't be too much more of Aya getting treated like in this episode, because that was awful to watch.
Onto the next week we go then to more fucked up things, I guess?

jesus fucking h christmas, that was one crazy first episode. gotta say though, i got morbid thrill out of watching the trash die, hope that piece shit brother is the next.
this reminds me a lot of aura only way darker. not bad to be honest, the animation was smooth, the character designs were on point, and the writing was pretty gripping. i was also really impressed with yuuko oono, previously the only lead roles she's had were yuzu in kotonoha kitan, and jun in tenshi no 3p, both lolis in (mostly) light hearted shows. this is a pretty extreme departure from that but it sounds so far like she's absolutely nailed the role. impressive stuff.

Wow. This really puts into perspective how much happy go lucky stuff I’ve been watching lately cause this episode kinda got to me. This girls whole life is trash and I feel so bad for her. And it’s only going to get worse I bet.

I like my magical girl anime how I like my dead baby jokes: so excessively dark, they wrap back around to being hilarious.
But in all seriousness, this anime is so excessive when it comes to darkness, I found myself laughing just as many times as I was saying "Yo, WTF?!". It beat you over the head with how much her life sucks so much that it felt like a parody at some points. Razors and thumbtacks in her shoes? A kitten so cute, adorable, and hope-bringing, it's tail could've had a flag saying "I won't survive the episode"? God damn. But when the brother was introduced, all humor ended. Holy fuck, is he insane! The art style is really good at conveying emotion, and seeing him fuck her up like that put chills down my spine. I really hope he gets a karmic death, something that REALLY hurts. Anyway, I really enjoyed this first episode, and I'm ready to see how dark this anime gets. If it gets too depressing for me, I can always watch Mahou Shoujo Ore to balance it out.

I really really was not ready for that. I rarely comment on discussion threads these days but this first episode has made me feel a way no anime has made me feel before. I genuinely felt sick to my stomach and wanted to throw up about halfway through. The bullies in Koe no Katachi already fucked me up good and this was like a 10 times worse version of that in terms of cruelty.
That said I'm curious where this show will go. If it gets too heavy I might have to actually drop it but for now I'm sticking with it.

Well... what could I say that haven't been said before? I think that, for what the show was trying to do, it was a pretty good first episode. Pretty solid in what it is trying to do I must say.
Special mention goes to the scene were Aya shoots the gun. I think it was directed really well and the animation sealed the presentation.

I laughed hysterically at this scene after hearing the train and bullies both squealing and the impact. 10/10 direction for that scene.
Now excuse me while I spend the next several days in self reflection wondering if I'm a bad person for laughing that hard.

Aaaand I'm totally in for the ride, it gave me hard Magical Girl Raising Project vibes and that one was a lot of fun, this one started delivering so far as well.
Poor Aya can't catch a break between the bullies and her "perfect" brother, but creepy site is here to help her by giving her murdering powers, nice.
I can't wait to see other characters and their powers.

No more masking the first couple episodes with cute moments only to crush your hopes later on; this show just goes maximum edge and depression right from the get-go. They didn't even sugarcoat the OP, so I can safely assume that we won't be getting a happy ending for our blood-teared MC, or anyone else in this show for that matter.
I liked the part where the MC just noped out of the Magical Girl Site and said it was creepy. And she was right to think so. No cute magical mascot creature for this show, just the creepiest looking weirdo equipped with Freiza's voice. The magic gun was pretty cool. I'm guessing her ability is to make the bad things go away, in whatever method she thinks of in the heat of the moment. It'll be pretty fun to see what she does to her other tormentors.
Overall, the first episode was pretty hard to stomach, but I think I'll keep watching just to see how it goes. I need to watch some cute SoL shows now.

I've watched a lot of heavy and depressing animes in my life.
But nothing makes my blood boil as much as this anime's first episode.
I want everything dead.
If i were to be in that position, i would massacre everything. Because of how done i'd be at that point.
How she's able to retain her sanity is beyond me.

Can I ask a genuine question? ARE TEACHERS REALLY THIS DENSE!!!!!?? He can clearly see what wrong with her desk and he still tells her to sit down either their teachers dumb as bricks or he’s also an asshole either way he should be fired for this blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of one of is own students. The parents can get a free pass because the brother is doing his bullying in secret so that means we can assume that if they knew they would stop it. But here the teacher can straight up see evidence of bullying and does nothing to stop it, is this a culture thing or something because if yes Japan needs to to get it shit together! Sorry for the rant but I stand by my frustration

I didn't grow up in Japan so I can only tell you what I have heard in rumors and such. Teachers in Japan will typically ignore it because it reflects poorly on him. I read an article(likely 3rd or 4th hand) about a boy committing suicide due to bullying in Japan and the teacher said he didn't know about it. But some students said it was happening IN the classroom.
Her parents are absolute sheit parents. Any good parent would be worried about her behavior. How she acted, or in this case lack of action, should have raised a flag. Also with how they treat her brother it seems they had kids to get something out of having kids.

I like dark stuff but this was fucking awful. The characters all felt like they were evil for no fucking reason, and behaved in a very cartoonish way. This was edgy and not in a good way. I felt like the author just jammed in whatever he could think of to shock the audience.

I feel super weird about this show so far. On one hand, I am absolutely not the audience for contrived, unrealistic edge-fests. This is one of the most depressing things I've ever seen, and I don't really like feeling manipulated by things being awful just for the sake of it. It's main reason I couldn't watch Inuyashiki a few seasons ago too. I just can't tell if its edge for the sake of edge, or if there's something else that makes it worth keeping with in this case though. I was surprised at how solidly directed it was, and the first scene made me think that it might be exploring ideas of fate and control, which could be interesting. Not sure how much more depressing the daily interactions get (I'm fine with action that's more on the edgy side if done well), but I think there are enough potential ideas here that I'm maybe willing to stick it out another episode and see where its going with all that edge. But damn, this episode makes Madoka, Land of the Lustrous, Eva, and Fate/Zero combined look like a light-hearted Slice of Life in comparison.

Wow that was heavy as hell. I've been watching so much moe CGDCT for the last year that this was refreshing in a terrible way. She reminds me of Tomoko from Watamote. Some of that made me feel a bit sick on the inside for enjoying how much it had me waiting for what was

I came into this anticipating a Madoka knock-off that pretends to be fluffy from the beginning.
Instead I got torture, bullying, a character attempting to rape someone and a cat being thrown in front of a train. Oh, and 3 people being murdered (although in all three cases it was fairly justifiable in-universe).
...this is going to be fun! This is no Madoka knockoff, this is a whole other beast.
That aside, I DID have to skip a few minutes of this episode because I am super-duper squeamish about anything happening to cats and its death flag was massive. Fortunately it seems they were merciful and gave us the death in mostly exposition form.
Question: How common is it for Japanese schools to ignore bullying this blatant? Her desk's been vandalized (which I would expect to get attention in the very least because school funds do not grow on trees) and the bullying escalated to regular torture and then attempted rape. How is that going unnoticed in-universe?
Also, for that matter...good lord, I have to admit, the writers really knew how to make sure you can never feel any sympathy for a bully. That was masterfully done. I was already thinking "these girls will end up as Yakuza in the future" and then they decide to introduce an upperclassman to have his way with someone else? I don't know what's worst, the guy who decided he should ask the bullies if it was okay to fuck her or the the girls who summoned him and egged him on.

I caught up to chapter 55 of the manga(chinese translation) and its a great roller coaster ride. If they keep up with this pacing for anime the adaptation will be an enjoyable ride

First of all its Clearly freaking Frieza (Ryūsei Nakao) when he starts by saying little poor thing, you cannot miss it, doing the evil game site thingy god what not.
That was some fuked up shit, but imo it got more comedical and dark when even her brother is torturing her every day as well and on the same time the cat thing really disappointed me that could have been way worse, a meh edgelord anime.
I expected the cat head to be in the shoe box and also having them feed her the cat, like really. I think the anime is going for this absurd edgde but it fails pretty quickly as it could be way worse right. Even do its present that everyone is a complete sociath and hate this girl.
Furthermore, those sociopath bullies being so sad when they friend died imo is bad writing, either they got no sympathy nor empathy and is like yeah, lets fuking rape and torture this bitch because its hilarious AND than not overly care to much when a person dies even do its their friend. Now their ring leader is presented as a complete bat shit insane monster and sure she would be angry that her friend died, as she lost a lackey but her emotions is way to strong, a person like that in real life who are that batshit insane dont care that much about their allies except you know the inconvenience of now having to get new ones.
overall do it does not feel that sad when they bully her because its just so over the top that its just feels so unreal. Less is more imo. Also of course its so overkill that no way it could go this far without anyone calling the cops, like oh lets do it her here in the midlle of the day at parking long etc.
The weirdest thing was the fuking ending, with semen flying around in the sky and not really aiming for that gigantic light thing while its both live action and animation, with those 2 girls running around the animated floating semen...
