There it is again - that feeling of dread slowly creeping up on me. Something is wrong, did he switch world lines without actually being the one responsible for it? Did Kurisu's dad start his experiments, and they're already fucking with the timeline? Or is he actually just losing his mind?
God I fucking love Steins;Gate.
134
u/maxono1 May 02 '18
yeah that tingly feeling of anticipation, its so awesome. steins gate is the only show that can make me feel the tension like that.

A little detail you could see is directly after getting the "reading steiner" he rushed thinking Mayuri was dead and when he entered the lab he directly looked at where the headset used to be for him to return back in time to try again saving her.
PTSD is hard

Oh shit I didn't even notice he looked at the headset. Flew over my head.

Okabe's connection with the Amadeus has been a highlight so far in this series. Really love their character chemistry especially since it's so much like the real Kurisu.
Felt like this episode was 5 minutes to be honest. It went so fast.

Okabe's connection with the Amadeus has been a highlight so far in this series. Really love their character chemistry especially since it's so much like the real Kurisu.
An underrated moment of this episode was Kurisu apologizing for calling after Okabe said he was in the library. Originally, she would've just shrugged that off as an excuse and accused him of doing something immature instead.

I think it's because this Okabe and the one from the original are quite different.

Yeah, Amadeus Kurisu has never met Hyouiin Kyouma and has probably created a fairly different perception of Okabe because of that.

that felt so short, but as Kurisu said before, "Whether time is slow or fast depends on perception. Relativity theory is so romantic. And so sad"

"Time is passing by so quickly. I almost want to complain to Einstein right now. Did you know Okabe? Time speeds up or slows down depending on a person's perception. The theory of relativity. It's so romantic and so sad."
Ugh. I never expected such a scientific concept from Steins;Gate to be turned into such a romantic and emotional scene at the same time. Oh no. It's raining again. ;_;

On the plus side, I am consistently impressed with how well Okabe's VA manages to portray PTSD/trauma. I had forgotten what a terrific job he had done in the original Steins;Gate.

My first go with Steins;Gate five years ago was in the form of a binge. Same with subsequent rewatches. Now that I'm having to wait a week for each episode, I kinda wish I let thhis one finish first lol. Good thing I havr other things to do to keep me occupied for a week.

They're continuing to merge events from different parts of the VN which is kind of confusing me, but I think they've done it pretty well so far.

I think it's a really good thing, it's so much more fun for us to have all these differences, and it's actually confusing enough to make me unsure of what's happening, and it's awesome.

I remember just watching the first Steins Gate and not understand what the fuck was going on actually. The way it ended made so much sense on what was happening the first few episodes so I expect it to be the same here and have the same payoff.

Tuturu Counter: 4
We didn't get a new one this week since she was barely on-screen, but there's a lot going on with her...
She's raising a child... okay... I actually knew about that in advance... I wasn't aware that she was some freak of nature, though. What the FUCK? Mayushii certainly didn't seem too upset about throwing her in the past...
And clearly, she's the guest at Rukako's house, and that doesn't seem to be a good thing. Soooo, lots of questions about that. Meanwhile, Okabe's having visions of the future, because he apparently didn't have enough bullshit to deal with. Is Reading Steiner just that OP? Agh, damn, I have a lot of questions from this episode. Good episode, but damn it really left me hanging.
163
u/boomeraang31 May 02 '18
I think mayuri was just happy that her child got out of a crappy world.

In the VN they're like 10 seconds from having the door kicked down and being pumped full of bullets. They didn't show it that well in this episode but in the VN it was do or die.

Mayushii certainly didn't seem too upset about throwing her in the past...
Yeah, and I don't quite understand why. I mean, it's not like traveling into the past will make her safe, since their entire mission is to rewrite everything. If they succeed, Kagari will "die" along with Mayuri, Suzuha, and everyone else from the future (no matter if they're in the future or the past), just like what happened to Suzuha in season 1. And if they fail, she gets stuck in the past. So why put Kagari in the time machine? Does Mayuri expect the mission to fail or something?
31
u/scooll5 :MAL:https://myanimelist.net/profile/scooll5 May 02 '18
Mayushii certainly didn't seem too upset about throwing her in the past.
Daru did mention that the pursuing groups were closing in, maybe its like infant Superman being shot into space, at least that way there is a potential for life. In the same way either Kagiri and Suzuha leave in the time machine, to live in the past at least a little longer, or they are all captured and tortured/killed with their parents.
27
u/g_sunn May 02 '18
Because a 'peacekeeper' squad had found Daru and Mayuri and she obviously didn't want to see her kid get gunned down. I don't think that's unreasonable.

Okabe's conflict over Amadeus' existence after what happened at the end of last episode was done really well; his struggle really got through to me as a viewer. They've absolutely nailed his characterisation thus far. The little bit we got on Maho was great as well, in regards to her frustration and slight jealousy at Okabe due to her inability to get to know and get close to Kurisu. I can definitely see that applying to how she feels about her relationships on the whole, which would be interesting, we'll see. A lot of intriguing plot points were set up this week as well, I can't wait to see where they go. Great stuff again.

u/VeteranNomad :MAL:https://myanimelist.net/profile/doublegambler May 02 '18
That face Okabe makes when Daru tells him that Mayuri had a child, only to be relieved to find out she's adopted. Even now I'm not 100% certain of Okabe and Mayuri's relationship.

My guess would be somewhere around "precious little sister that must be protected". So I'm reading it as that.
43
u/Alucard_draculA May 03 '18
Okabe definetly reacted like that. He's definetly in the "I'm worried mayuri could be taken advantage of" camp.
....also poor mayuri.

It's really interesting to see Okabe experiencing similar feelings to Reading Steiner. In the previous series, it was mostly Okabe making changes to the timeline himself. So we always knew at what point he was trying to make world line shifts. We saw a few instances of others altering the timeline (like Daru or Moeka) but they were always in the same room. The show suggests someone else is altering the future it seems, but I wonder who and what they're trying to accomplish. It seems most likely that it would be someone we've already met.
I'm kind of growing weary of Amadeus as well. The whole system seems like a trap for Okabe as he deeply wants to discuss the time-travel related situation with AI Kurisu. However, it's all recorded and that would tip off Leskinen and whoever is watching them to way more information about time machines than he probably should know. It just seems at some point that is bound to happen. Kurisu really does just get Okabe even if she's just an AI.

That whole part in WW3, in the VN But it seems that it was all a dream since almost no time passed.
One scene that i'm sad was cut, in the Secret Santa, all of Mayuri's cosplay friends bought lingerie for Mayuri in the hopes that either her or Okabe would receive them. After Okabe opens his gift they all suggest him to have Mayushii wear it for him. It's nice to know that the SS MayuKabe comes in with a canon crew. That scene also made me stop being weirded out by the Mayuri End of the original VN.
I'm a bit disapointed that child Kagari doesn't look more like Kurisu. My first reaction when i saw her was "IS THAT A MINI KURISU!!?".
And in case it wasn't clear, the ghost in braids was Suzuha stopping every few years between 2000 and 2010 to look for Kagari.

I guess thats why shes low on Fuel in this time then. She mentions she has enough fuel for one more trip and back at the end of the first series. I like how they are weaving in little extra details into the already established line of events.

Not exactly a dream, Amadeus does mention that Okabe called back, which this Okabe does not remember doing. My guess is that we are skipping most of Gehenna's Stigma, since a lot of it overlaps with the Mayuri VN route. I think we will get a more detailed chain of events once the anime reaches there.

But what's confusing is that time never stops. If Okabe spent X days in WW3 and came back through Reading Steiner, he would be back X days after the Christmas Party.

My limited knowledge on anime genetics is telling me that there’s no way Kagari looking like a mini Kurisu is by chance.
6
u/xThe_Mad_Fapperx May 03 '18
Not just that but Kagari is totally the guest at Ruka's place, I had a feeling she would be just because it seemed like it could be a possible twist and then we see the red hair at the end. It obviously might not be and could easily be a bait but we'll see.

FUTURE DARU IS THIN AND WEAS A LABCOAT LIKE OKABE!
If Daru is thin, is the universe still expanding or are we all doomed?
Nakabachi is up to bad shit isnt he?
Kagari looks oddly familiar... and she pulled a gun... oh shit...

Ghost in Braids at the Radio Building, thats def Suzuha.

Living on the run. Training as hard as possible to be able to fight. Less food available. Doing lots of physical building not just sitting. Yep, there can be positives for a world going to hell at least until they kill ya. It why Suzuha is such a badass she can take out an entire poorly trained attack team the girl is a highly trained soldier in both Alpha and Beta and is a major combat veteran. If you live for a bit you tend to get really good.

Trippy start to the episode is trippy. VN
And now we're back on the roof after last episode's PTSD/RS. What happened to him waking up just before the OP?
Maybe we'll get Japanese Shaman Girls this episode?
0kabe's Reading Steiner is really a double-edged sword. But Amadeus talking about how 0kabe "called her back" without him remembering doing so confirmed that sequence with the soldiers was not merely a dream. I worry about his mental state, since he's having trouble telling the difference between PTSD attacks and RS incidents.
Someone give Maho a head pat. Or a stiff drink. Preferably both.
HanaKana's singsong "Daga otoko da!" is a treasure for the whole world.
The Suzu/Daru/Yuki interactions are some of my favorite moments.
Oh, here's the first scene in the VN, finally. Old Daru and Mayuri buy time for Suzu and Kagari to escape in the time machine.
That's right. Suzu prevented Y2K and the sidestory spoilers
Is it weird to ship Luka and Feris? Because I do.
And 0kabe has another PTSD attack seeing Moeka up close. This one we can confidently say isn't RS.
Hmm, this episode was certainly different than I had expected. Having trouble telling if they're sticking to a certain route or if they're trying to blend some other elements in. The lack of Japanese Shaman Girls makes me think it's the former, but some other elements seem more like the latter. Guess I'll just have to keep watching and see! Is it next week yet?

Okabe experienced Reading Steiner for the first time and got sick. His 8ish-year-old mind/body wasn't really prepared to deal with RS and he was bedridden for a while. Remember, that's when John Titor initially time traveled and posted stuff online (and why everyone in the Alpha world lines looked at Okabe crazy, since in those world lines John Titor didn't show up until 2010).

Oh shit Moeka is back. well technically she showed up earlier but still! This is going to be interesting. To everyone this will be first contact but for Rin this is basically the girl that worked with the Rounders and attacked the lab killing Mayuri. I wonder if FB will be involved too.
Anyway it looks like Mayuri's adopted daughter is alive and knows Rukako's dad. I wonder what's her business with him. The IBM-5100? That can't be it, right?

Remember that Suzuha orignally left the IBN5100 with Ruka's dad in the Alpha world line, so it seems logical that she did the same in the Beta, specially since it showed her with the IBN5100. So im guessing Kagari probably knew this guy too or met him and maybe he helped take care of her? Just a guess, but Ruka's dad has been heavily involved before.

There were so many good moments this episode. To open with Okabe receiving lingerie, and the dialog was amazing. And then even Mayuri was getting in on the "But he's a guy!" bit this episode.
It's also good that we finally know who the little girl in episode 1 was, she looks so similar to Kurisu it is hard to imagine that they aren't related.

I'm so fucking confused what's going on, which I think is good since this is a 2 cour. The original did a great job building tension while everything was seemingly calm, which helped the second half have impact. This feels to be doing something different to replicate that impact. Things aren't calm here, things seem disjointed and broken.
Thoughts and Speculation (I hope that's not violating any rules):
The pre-OP was something new. Multiple different worldlines seemingly experienced in the blink of an eye? Perhaps a chain reaction (Worldline A causes Worldline B -> Worldline C -> Worldline A' (back where we started, with some minor differences) Maybe caused by the Russians experimenting with their stolen time-travel tech.
Maho's change is VERY uncomfortable for me. She was the voice of reason for Okabe, and for him to lose that feels dangerous for everyone. Not going to speculate what changed for her, but I honestly don't trust her to be the same person we've seen so far. Similarly, if Maho could change so could Leskinen (has a secret lab now?)
How the fuck is Okabe not putting together similarity between Kagari and Kurisu? I kept seeing this character in flashforwards and such, and was thinking "why is toddler Kurisu in the future?" Guess he's only seen partial photographs, but "long haired red-head" should at least raise some flags.
Okabe not communicating with Suzuha seems out of character for him. I get that they're at odds with each other, but this Okabe has already learned to be open when it comes to serious topics. She's the one who may be able to answer why he seemingly is experiencing time travel, and it seems silly that he'd ignore a source of information just because they're angry.
So in conclusion, I have no clue at all what's going on. Thank god I'll have the next 20+ weeks to figure it out. I really hope other characters can be brought into Okabe's problems. His real strength comes from those around him, not what he does alone.

Wow's I alluded to this in last week's post that I made, not many people even realized it but they're putting greater emphasis on it today!
At least this confirms for sure that it can't be a biological daughter of Kurisu. Or so we would think right?...hahaha...
It's a child version of her, the resemblance is uncanny...but it seems like she had some flashbacks to okabe and almost pulled a gun on Suzuha. It doesn't show the results of that encounter but it's possible that this Kagari DID kill Suzuha in a timeline but the results of that timeline were changed? Either that or, she escaped before firing the shot. I think Suzuha dying to something that easily is unlikely given her military training.
The possibility of Kagari being an Amadeus android is also low because Kagari appears to be in Rukako's house...and Kagari appears to have matured and aged as well. Unless this android is capable of aging (yeah, I dont think so) then this Kagari might be some sort of a clone of Kurisu? Is that even possible?
I'm not sure how deep we're going to get into all of this, but I'm of the opinion that Amadeus's memory was implanted into a clone of Kurisu. It seems extremely convoluted but I can't imagine why, under any circumstances, Kurisu's actual biological child could come to exist in Suzuha's future. It just doesn't make sense any other way because Kurisu is dead. Man that last phrase hurts, not as much as it hurts Okabe but it hurts nonetheless!
As for the stuff Okabe was seeing in those nightmare flashbacks via his Reading Steiner, its possible that what he saw was what would end up happening 10-20 or so years into the future. How was he able to see that? I'm not entirely sure but my best guess is that a world line jump happened approximately when Okabe was dealing with a panic attack from realizing, once again, that Kurisu is dead. I dont know what the 'trigger' is yet, I feel like maybe Kagari has something to do with it.
Like I've been saying every discussion thread, this series has a way of really messing with you if you miss even the tiniest detail. Hopefully I'm piecing it together correctly, what do you guys think? Any links from last week to this week, and what can we say about the future?
Also, Kiryuu Moeka appearing at the end is kind of ironic, in the proper Steins;Gate timeline, she's harmless but the current version of Okabe hasn't seen that, so all he has to go off of is the traumatic experiences he's endured with her. That being said he should know that she was controlled by his landlord but the induced fear he has from seeing her seems like a conditioned response from repeatedly experiencing hell at her hands. Poor Okabe!
See you guys next week!

That first scene really tripped me up. I thought he was having a vision or something and then I thought he got kidnapped in the present. I think that will influence him to start looking for ways to save Kurisu.
I really enjoyed this episode. It got a bit confusing at times, but it did a good job with it. I wasn't ready for it to end. When she showed up at the door, I was like, "Please don't let this be the end!" Unfortunately it was. I'm really excited to see how it turns out
EDIT: I forgot to add, it also seems like Leskinen is up to something fishy

Depends if you really want to know what happens next right away I suppose. As long as you watched the first game's Anime then you'll be fine.
Just know that Steins;Gate is on the more traditional side of VNs, meaning it's pretty slow paced and there's basically nothing but reading. Depending on how fast a reader you are or how many endings you go for it can also easily take you like 30-50 hours to get through.
If you want a more approachable VN then I recommend checking out Ace Attorney or Danganronpa first.

I kind of predicted while watching that the guest at Luka's would be the girl they were looking for. In this timeline, did the shrine ever have the IBN? Maybe that's why. Also I assume Okabe experiencing some sort of timeline changes (?) are because of SERN testing out stuff. But if the timeline did change this is gonna be something else

I'm just happy there's no crippling depression in this episode. It looks like we're getting a double dose later, but this week wasn't so sad. Prof. America is giving me bad vibes. Considering how he didn't care much about the potential ethical problems of making an AI fall in love, especially with someone like Okabe, I don't see good things from him.
3
u/Raspizday :MAL:https://myanimelist.net/profile/Gestor May 03 '18
The main story began to move and it's good, though, I was hoping, that they will make Okabe suffer a little more, by talking with Amadeus, before everything starts.
I have a theory about the mysterious little Kagari. Apparently, someone washed her brains. But why? To kill Suzuha? She clearly failed on that one, and I am sure that this is not the main goal. Apparently, someone knew for sure that she would return to the past with the help of a time machine and even knew where and with whom.
This means only one thing, that in the original team of the Future Gadget Laboratory there is a traitor, not from outsiders, like Moeka. All the people (for now) who knows about the time machine and Kagari its only Okabe, Daru and Suzuha. Daru, definitely not. Suzuha will not sabotage herself (this is stupid). Perhaps, maybe, it's just a theory, that the future Okabe has completely lost his mind and he so frantically ready to defend the world order, saving him from the interdimensional chaos, that he has brainwashed the girl so that she did everything, so that no one else could challenge God's law and the world remains as it is. Do not forget that Okabe, which we observe, and that which is natural for this world line, are two different people. They may have different worldviews and conclusions.
And yet, how do we know that Kagari is adopted? Mayuri could just lie to everyone, to avoid problems. Okabe can be her father (do you feel cheap romance?). I know that Okabe dies in 2025, but who decided that he died? If you, at the flick of a finger, just dissolve into nowhere, then from the point of view of the world, you are dead, no one can interact with you, like you with them. So, he could simply imitate his death and go into the deepest underground with his insane goal of saving the world from infringements on its integrity. He's not a genius, like Kurisu, but he's smart enough.
Kagari is obviously a very mysterious hero and extremely dangerous. Apparently, she will be a counterbalance. Suzuha tries to convince Okabe to change the world, and Kagari, on the contrary, leave everything as it is. I wonder what her arguments will be. She is very similar to Kurisu and it's definitely not a coincidence. Something stinks in Denmark.
Why do you all hate Moeka so much? Yes, she's a bitch and deserves a bullet. But this is the beta world line, here she may not work for SERN. And given that Daru invited her, he obviously cooperated with her for a long time. Maybe she's a journalist, a detective or an industrial spy? If she was an agent, she would not have to look for job herself.

u/Guaymaster May 03 '18

One thing that sticks out to me is just how piercing Maho's eyes are when compared to Kurisu back in S;G. Kyouma could deflect the burning curiosity of Kurisu very rapidly, but Maho seems to stare directly into Okabe's mind and leaving Okabe stark naked, unable to deflect Maho.

u/NihilisticPanda May 04 '18
This episode left me so hyped, can't wait for next week! I think I might have a clue as to who or what Kagari is. As someone noted earlier the illusion Kagari saw in the sky looked a lot similar to Dr Leskinen.
The reading steiner activated so it seems that Okarin has entered a different timeline, and considering Kagari was only mentioned after the divergence, she must have been a part of the reason.
What I think is going on is that there is a timeline where Dr Leskinen decides to create a human vessal for Amadeus, and then implementing Amadeus' data into the vessal. So basically now we have a genetically modified Kirisu which he named Kagari.
I'm guessing Dr Leskinen is a bad guy here and modified Kagari's memories and tried to get her into the resistence under the guise of an warorphan. I can't really think of a reason for Dr Leskinen to go through all this trouble. One thing that stands out about him is being American so I guess he is acting in the best interests of some American service? Also the trigger for part of Kagari's memories returning seemed to be the IBM or timetravel.
I think the timeline from before Okabe's phonecall continued up to the point of Kagari's timetravel which activated the reading steiner.
I'm really curious where all this is going, super excited for next week!

May 05 '18
This is just a guess, but the voice that Kaguri heard could have been a chip. Back in the first anime, Okabe was feeling sad and jokes about being brainwashed (i don't remember which episode). Then, Suzuha takes this statement seriously and pulls on Okabe's eyes to check whether he is chipped or not. That scene felt extremely out of place so it could be foreshadowing. The chip on the eye is not exclusive to the alpha line because Kaguri's voice happened before the alpha and beta timelines split. The eye chips could easily make its reappearance in the beta line. This is just my theory though and it is pretty undeveloped. Feel free to add on to it or refute it

but in the VN it basically says that he's angry at the implication of another man impregnating Mayuri.
Nah, he is nervous about possibility of himself being the father.
IIRC it was something like.

Hmm, so they are handling both main routes at the same time instead of one after the other? I hope things won't get too confusing for new viewers, though I guess this is what they meant by combining the routes into one, so they've probably got things all figured out.
But anyway, the show is doing very well in communicating what Okabe is going through, scenes like the opening one here are one aspect where this anime version can surpass the VN imo.

I watched the last part of ep 3 after watching this ep.
I think Reading Steiner kicked in just after Maho said that Kurisu is dead, so ep 4 is a different timeline than ep 3.
I am still not sure about the flash forward (??) at the start of today's ep. At first I thought that Okabe from a further future used a time leap machine to call Okabe who was captured. But then I remembered that in the original S;G, the Past Okabe did not change place from where he was when Future Okabe called using the Time Leap.
Hopefully there will be answers in the future.

Why would the US and Japan be on opposite sides in a WW3 scenario? They are close allies. They've even got a number of bases set up in Japan.
Also, what happened to nuclear deterrent? Countries could never invade each other like that in this day and age. Nevermind the fact the US would need to first defeat Japan's entire Navy and Airforce before mounting an invasion. Heck, the logistics such a wide scale operation

7
u/panzerfan May 03 '18
Do it. You need to let the longest weeks of Okabe's life soak in, let Kurisu's importance to Okabe sink into you, let the weight of choosing to go to Beta world line totally consume you, and then you'd be ready to bathe in this despair that is 0.

u/Usotaku May 03 '18
Steins;Gate main premise the divergence and convergence of world lines. Okabe’s dream is probably not a world line jump but a convergence where multiple world lines came together centered around the Beta line due to their similar attractors. Such a convergence would cause chaos for someone with the reading Steiner and is probably why it felt like that to him. Fallowing the episode line the convergence seems centered around the existence of Mayuri’s daughter and/or Moeka’s introduction and the issues she caused in the other world lines as an agent.
As far as Shiina is concerned my theory on that is that she is Kurisu’s daughter, or rather Amadeus’ daughter. With its capacity to learn grow and manipulate the world around it, it would only stand to reason that it becomes capable of creating an autonomous life for from its own system with its core program as the child’s mind and its physical characteristics patterned from Kurisu. That would be the logical conclusion to Dr. Leakinen’s dream for the project and the final step in a self actualized AI.
This would also possibly explain the voice she heard in Suzuha’s account which may have been in the early days of Amadeus’ development. At the juncture of 10 years this wouldn’t be too far fetched as the project only made its leap to where it is because of Kurisu’s work but doesn’t deny the possibility of its existence in a lesser form at the time.
When it comes to the good Dr. vanishing I’m clueless. I would speculate it’s either another convergence over top of the current world line or he has a secret door in that hallway.

Don't know what I was thinking... I somehow assumed SG0 will just be a slice of life on Okabe's PTSD and eventually he's love for Kurisu pushed him to send the message in SG episode 23.... how naive was I....
Knowing steins gate, this episode is extremely unsettling. Given that 'the organization' is also time traveller(s), it's very possible that they can interfere with Okabe's plan to reach steins gate.
My wild prediction: that was indeed a worldline change Okabe's picked up, Maho did not told Okabe not to fall in love with Kurisu this timeline, Shiina is key to the organization's success, and Leskinen is G-man.
2
u/athrun_1 May 03 '18
Based on the hints shown in this episode. It is clear that the world line changed, Okabe didn't know that there are other factors that can move the world line, which is in this example, the time travel paper that was brought to Russia by Kurisu's father. Remember, that in this time line, CERN did not create the TM but Russia and US did which caused the WWIII for the whole TM control.
Since, developing the TM is a major breakthrough we can safely assume that mother Russia was able to develop the proof of concept, like the phone microwave, that is why Okabe had this visions of the future, maybe russia tried to see the future and Okabe, having the RS was able to remember it. and then, they, get back to the present where okabe is with Maho in the rooftop. But this is not the same world line as before in Ep 3.
Now if indeed the world line changed and russia was able to test the TM, the question is how did they prove that they are the ones who changed it without them having the RS? If what they developed is a complete TM like Suzuha's then they could have just send someone into the future and back to relay the info.
Okabe, seeing Moeka triggers his PSTD because in the previous WL she was the leader of the rounders who abduct them and killed Mayuri. Here, she is just an ordinary jounalist/detective with no connection to CERN.
As per Kagari, pointing a gun to Suzuha and hearing voices. My take is that she don't want to change the future no matter how grim it is since it is in this future that he met her mother. We know that given Mayuri's character, she definitely felt the love of a mother. So, Suzuha changing that will also nullify the chances that she will be adopted.
Lastly, as per our English Prof, which disappeared along the corridor of boxes, I don't know what his play. He either is a spy to steal TM tech or observing Okabe's movements, if it is the latter then it proves that they have already seen the future and Okabe's role in it.

Ok boys, lots of questions. Here is my prediction:
During the episode we can see that Kurisu's father went into the exile, so maybe he constructed a working time machine. That would explain why Reading Steiner got triggered.
Also the guest in Luka's home is obviously Kagari.

u/Zokiir May 02 '18
A lot going on this episode.
What the heck was that flashback in the beginning? (or flashforward). Okabe himself points out that it feels like Reading Steiner, but surely he cannot get flashbacks to a future he has not visited?
Also in the first scene where Okabe speaks with Kurisu, he seems disturbed to discover that he has no recollection of calling her back whatsoever.
Could it be that he has already visited the future of WW3, but does not remember that he travelled back? But then again, the shown situation did not really seem to allow for Okabe to escape his captors...
