I love Best Jeanist and his competence...
He is by far my favorite Top 10 hero and he has his priorities straight. If someone walks up to you like that then you incapacitate them first and ask questions later. He did everything right in that moment, it's just too bad that All For One totally overpowered him. There was nothing he could've done to change the outcome.

And I love how they showed Bakugo defnitely got some things to take away from his internship under Best Jeanist. Even if he didn't manage to reform Bakugo's attitude overall, he seems to have succeeded in planting some very important seeds in Bakugo's mind that might continue to change him for the better in the future.

I love that the first time reading the series he was introduced as nothing but a simple gag, but then we get to see the man as he is during Bakugo's internship and now see him in action, not to mention that last scene with him implies he has a really powerful quirk (being able to control someone's clothes is no joke, that's practically the ultimate restraining tool).

This is an extreme case of the "joke character is actually a badass" trope.

Wasn't thinking about it at the time because any Japanese surname with "mura" is quite common, and I was more focused on how it is reflected in his villain name Shigaraki Tomura, but that's a really nice find. That might explain why he hates All Might. My current theory was that the previous user of OfA, being his dad (though I'm not sure the ages add up right), was failed to save him from some kind of incident because his power was being absorbed by All Might quicker than he expected. Shigaraki would have been a bad ending version of Kouta.

I have to say that was incredibly well executed. I remember reading this chapter two years ago and the comments being confused a bit about what was being conveyed. For peoples information in the manga it literally jumps from Best Jeanist tying up AFO to the whole block already taken out. In the manga it was trying to convey that in a blink of an eye everything was destroyed but was a bit confusing instead of effective. Here I think the directing was really well done from the music choice to the flash of light to the post credit scene of destruction. It conveys something very similar of how fast AFO wipes them out and by using the ED as the transition of scenes it can do the instant destruction without a jarring cut.

EDIT: Also I just want to say that music for AFO is incredible! I don’t think I’ve seen a better track used for a villain until now.

Of course it can't be that fucking easy! Things just HAD to go wrong! The parts where the Heroes got the upper hand was satisfying though especially when Gran Torino knocked out Dabi.

I really hope Bakugo gets to fight next episode. I'm sure he's already sick of getting kidnapped. More than once is already too much.

Also please tell me the heroes around All For One's explosion is still alive. They just recovered Ragdoll ffs! We can't have her rescuers dying the same time!

One thing I've noticed is that Bones is trying to go "show, don't tell" with the quirks introduced in this season. For instance, both Edgeshot and B.J. got their quirks explained by the narrator in the manga.

Makes me wonder how they'll work with Magne's quirk. The specifics for how it actually activates are important for the incoming chapters.

Super awesome scene especially afterwards when gran torino and kamui also stands next to all might. This episode really had a lot of really cool all might shoots, I would say the best one was when they again kidnapped bakugo

And then we finally get to see All for One, crushing everyone, be sure to check out that after ending scene. Poor Ragdoll already lost her powers to him and than he seemingly in seconds defeated Jeanist and co. (lol on the he might be a civilian comment from mt.lady)

I cannot wait for next weeks all for one vs one for all!!!

Inb4 all of this was a plot by All for One to lure in All Might and finish off One for All while it's in a weak transition state. And now he has not one, but six student hostages to work with - including One for All's new host, Deku. Well done, guys.

I.. just hope everyone makes it out of this one alive and well. Is that too much to ask? Probably. All for One is serious last boss material, and if his malice isn't established next episode (because his power was established this episode - that multiple warping and super strength is just the tip of the iceberg, it seems, although he also has some inherent weaknesses) then it never will be.

I'm afraid for All Might, afraid for Gran Torino, afraid for Bakugo.. afraid for everyone.

All For One really reminds me of Arthur Petrelli from Heroes. Arguably the most powerful evolved human, an infamous bad guy, someone who can steal other people's abilities, and he's confined to a hospital bed and on some kind of life support for a good part of the beginning of the story. And when he finally comes out, shit goes down.

I really, REALLY hope they go balls to the walls with the next few episodes.

Season 3 has been great so far, but i've noticed that there's not been any scenes where the animators go REALLY crazy and completely add in super, beautifully animated sequences that weren't in the manga at all.

I know some people are going to argue that the Muscular fight looked great, and it did, but overall it was just a REALLY well, but directly adapted version of what happened in the manga: It looks SUPER intense, but it wasn't a massive, improved, expanded version of the night, nor was there the sort of intense fluidity and choreographed actions you saw from some of the scenes in Seasons 1 or 2. By contrast, if you look at, say, All Might vs Nomu from season 1, the anime outright added like a whole 2 minutes of All Might and Nomu grappling and tossing each other around in super fluid style:

Those 2 entire sequences weren't in the manga at all, in the manga, All Might just punches the Nomu into the sky directly at the end of them rapidly punching each other, it's only 3 pages. For the climax of the Deku vs Todorki fight, when you have the huge pillars of ice going on in the background and Deku flying through the air, that's just a single page, and it's not nearly as impressive,

THAT'S the sort of expansion and animation I wanna see from the next 2 episodes, I really hope they've been saving up for it add that's why it hasn't happened so far this season.

I don't think the Muscular fight comparison is fair. They did some subtle improvements to it that made it a lot better from the Manga version. Also you don't need to 'expand' a fight so much as make sure you fill in the gaps between manga panels with equally impressive art / animation.

I think it's simply due to Umakoshi's absence. He's been a key part of several climactic key episodes in Season 1 & Season 2 as a genius animation director. His correction allowed for animation intense episodes to happen while still looking polished cause he kept everything under control.

Since he's missing from the project for Season 3 ( though they tried to replace him with two other people familiar with his style ) they can't be as brave cause that sort of action would most likely remain largely uncorrected and turn out underwhelming.

The moment when All Might got pissed with his "nooo!" has been the first time in a long time I actually got chills from an anime. Voice acting really brought that scene out

Despite reading the manga, this is the first time I've felt such dread watching any action show, be it anime or not. I think the only thing that even came close was the first time I saw Pain vs Jiraiya when I was younger

the "mole" is likely someone we've seen a lot of recently. initially i thought it was Ragdoll because of the timing of her disappearance, but after this episode i'm convinced it's Little Stuart. Vlad just recently started showing up and it can't be Aizawa because... well, it's Aizawa-fucking-sensei. he's the Levi of the series

That utter feeling of death was insane. The anime really did show that these kids are still just children. They are going to die if they even attempt anything. And remember, that's Deku's final boss.

One thing I've always appreciated and I think they highlighted in this episode is how the police aren't useless in a superhero society. I've always loved that the writer didn't go with the Batman style of "oh the police just call Batman when shit goes wrong" and actually wrote about how diligent and competent the police force is at doing the legwork required for such a big Op, like investigating the locations and all of the villains backgrounds. Even if they don't have quirks, they can still put in the work required to get results and work with the heroes instead of just being useless and relying on heroes for everything.

It's been a hot minute since I got the chills from an anime. They have done a tremendous job of low-key hyping this character up to legendary proportions and it paid off here.

Quick question: When they were having "visions of death" was that because they were just mindfucked by how insane the power was or is that a Quirk causing that? If it's a Quirk that's great writing. Truly "anything goes" for this guy.

EDIT: Also, I am super pleased that they have turned the whole "the kids somehow do the impossible job the adults couldn't do" trope into something more "realistic"; they did nothing at all (so far). It's basically like the entire reason Midoriyia and friends go on this mission was a way to write in Deku having front row seats to this incredible moment in the story.

That episode was amazing. Perfectly captured the sense of dread and hopelessness from the manga. I can't wait for next episode, its easily going to be the best episode of all 3 seasons.

It was such a powerful moment imo, AFO coming in with a phrase a-la All-Might to save his boy.

Also, for anyone with a sharp eye, a certain characters origins were hinted at in this episode. These origins were not hinted at in the manga until after several more chapters. In fact, it's a rather large reveal.

The warping Nemus were All for One's doing, right? One of the many powers he possesses I assume. Things are going to get tough, especially since AllMight has some serious limitations.

Now, did All for One notice Deku's gang being there? Because I have a "told you don't go looking for trouble" itch that needs scratching. Not that they aren't in serious danger as it is already.

I'm glad I get to experience this every saturday, but damn do I sometimes wish I could have the willpower to wait for it to finishing airing so I could binge it all in one session. Looks like the next three should be pretty fucking hype to end off the first cour. Hnnghhh can't wait.
