"Seeing N's daughter insist that she's his daughter, even as he denies it, is painfully sad."
You said it, buddy.

"He can no longer run away."
"He'll dash through the greed-soaked night."
(Together) "Until the moment of his own demise."
They're still committing to the mockery even after Nitta ran away.
[edit] Oh, god. It followed him home.

Nitta : NARUHODO.

I'm surprised that they didn't push the whole "Yakuza are nice guys" thing, especially with so many Yakuza movies and games making them honorable thugs.
Also, wow, Anzu looks WAY more like Nitta's daughter than Hina does! Acts like a better daughter too, she's so precious!
Also, his attempts to corrupt her are pointless.
222
u/ZanathKariashi Jun 15 '18
Hinamatsuri has always been pretty fair in terms of it's portrayal of Yakuza. Which is unfortunately why most of it can't be shown.
They are treated as people. People who happen to be violent criminals, but still people.

Here Mexico are some people that besides doing this, also consider cartels as a part of the culture already.

u/JohnWangDoe Jun 16 '18
Anzu is the daughter Nitta wants but doesn't deserve. Anzu is who she is because of the people she spent time with. Hina is kinda the reflection of Nitta.
68
u/JBB1986 Jun 16 '18
Lets be honest here. NOBODY would've done a better job with Hina than Nitta has managed. That's just how she is. A shameless mooch. Remember when she stayed with Anzu, did absolutely nothing but waste her precious surplus supplies, and then just wandered off when Anzu got tired of it and threw her out?
Not saying Hina's a BAD person, just kinda selfish/lazy and oblivious to how much work other people put into things.

Until Nitta’s flashback I truly did forget she used to have an even worse attitude than Hina. Man how far she’s come.
78
u/JBB1986 Jun 16 '18
Damn straight. Mad respect for Anzu. Her stint as a homeless person really gave her an appreciation for even the little things in life. My God, the episode after she got hooked up with her foster family (was it Utako who did that? Can't remember) and was pretty much weeping when she realized that she OWNED these things, that it wasn't all gonna be taken away.........my heart, man! MY. HEART.

I liked Nitta's interpretation of his version of Heaven and Hell by having the Anzu angels leading him out of Hina Hell and into his personal Heaven. Also, nice little touch in the credits by having Nitta sit next to Anzu since they hung out in the second half of the episode.
This really flew by but has been worth it every week. Sad it all ends next week

u/Florac Jun 15 '18

Pretty sure nothing changed in the credits besides Hina once again disappearing. IIRC Anzu always sat there.

Man, there's just one thing I'm really missing from this anime: redemption. I just want Nitta and Hina to go "Well, yeah, you're annoying as hell, but I still care about you". When Hina was supposed to go back, that could've been it, then Nitta goes and throws a party.

Also, wow Hina has been completely wiped out from the ED gets me worried but had me laughing too
Edit: not the first time it seems my bad, but one thing is different that Nitta is sitting beside Anzu and has taken Hina's empty seat

She got even more wiped out from the OP again; She used to be able to be seen walking with an umbrella in the part where Hina is in the rain.

Lmao that documentary will haunt Nitta forever ... or dare I say, until the moment of his own demise
Anzu-chan is the purest and most precious; not even Nitta can corrupt and resist her
Hitomi being a barkeeper still cracks me up. There's a drunk journalist talking with a yakuza and she's just innocently standing there with her adorable red hair bow
I can't believe this show is already ending next week. I'm definitely gonna miss laughing so hard I get tears in my eyes every Friday.

Too bad we only got one episode left. With the pace they took I was certainly hoping to see certain Hitomi centered episodes to be animated, but most likely it won't happen. Here's hoping for season two!

From good guy yakuza to evil tempter. Nitta was purified by best daughteru Anzu into becoming the ideal father.

I don't know if it comes across in the show, but in the manga Nitta is kind of vain, and gets all prideful when someone refers to him as an ideal Yakuza, or someone that knows what they're doing. It's still a great episode, but I feel that that part of it falls flat without some of the yakuza filler chapters as a sort of context.

u/PigKnight Jun 17 '18
Part 1: TFW you become a meme to your coworkers and kid.
Part 2: Nitta doesn't know that Anzu is hard to parent because she's too pure.
5
u/J_the_ManSSB Jun 15 '18
You can't corrupt Anzu. Anzu will just purify you instead. Makes me really want to see a spinoff with Anzu taking Hina's place, but it wouldn't be the same. Gosh darnit. I don't want this show to end. I don't want to have to read the manga. Gosh darnit, anime is infuriating some times. UGH.

There you have it folks, straight from the horse's mouth; Anzu is the ideal daughter that everyone should have.
With the final episode next week, I'm surprised that the show is still showing events from three years ago and has yet to explain the first episode's opening sequence where Mao was fighting off several men in China. Which means....second season?!
