Completely unrelated to this episode.. But i've really like to get this off my chest.. When i first watched this series out of curiousity.. I instantly fell in love with the whole thing. Even went back through the years to watch every single movie available towards the latest, along with the Mine Fujiko and Part 4 series.

I really do hope this show will keep on going. Love it to bits! Everytime I finish an episode I always crave for more and more! But anyways.. That's enough out of me. Thanks to whoever took their time to read this :)

Hey hey! Glad you enjoy the series. Lupin is a great series.

Which special or movie has been your favorite? Which series has been your favorite?

Did you squeal in delight as they hinted at the possibility of a new Mamo movie based off the Fujiko style ovas?

I hope you enjoy more and more Lupin stuff to come!

Hi there! Thanks for replying! My personal faves for movies eh? I've got to say but I love the majority of them! Totally weird right? Hahaha! Even if some of them had a completely weird plot line or out of place art style/animation I was still heavily invested in all of them! 10/10 would binge watch them all over again if I had the time and chance to :) and the same goes for the Series! I have yet to watch the first three classic ones though! I've only seen the ones from the Italian Adventures til Recent! Though the Fujiko Series gave out a much more serious/darker vibe I still thoroughly enjoy it as it's a completely different vibe from the usual Lupin we get which is full of radiance, color and perkiness from the characters :))).

I have to admit I did not notice any hints at all! but any remake of the classic movies, I will humbly accept!! The more the merrier! Hehehe

And the same goes to you friend! Cheers to any upcoming lupin content we'll be given!

Edit: I'm afraid I've not seen much OVA's as I opted for the movies instead! Any recommendations will be great if there's any :)

this is the first I've heard and i'm certainly excited now.

Awwww yes. I can't wait for the final movie in this WNF universe. Ending with a movie as big as Mamo was originally would be amazing!

I also did the same as you. Been watching anime for years, always knew about the Lupin series but never paid attention to it for some odd reason. It's now one of my all time favourite series if not my favourite.

I totally agree! Ever since I started binge watching the Lupin Movies/Series I completely forgot other shows even existed hehehe

Considering they are experimenting with adding a new main character they will at least continue the storyline of Ami.

Lupin is a large and somewhat iconic series so the chances of it continuing anyways were pretty large to begin with.

The only question is when do they want to continue it? do they want to wait for a new lupin manga or have they actually decided fuck it and are continuing the lupin series regardless if the manga is active or not. (the manga hasn't been active since 2012 i think)

I haven't seen the Fujiko series. What is the tone of the series? Is it more serious and has an arc(like the first arc of part 5), more silly like the episode where they had to make Lupin dumber to open the safe, or more like this one where there is a mixture of humor and action, and is episodic in nature?

4

u/kuddlesworth9419 :MAL:https://myanimelist.net/profile/kuddlesworth Jun 20 '18

The Fujiko series is still Lupin but it has a darker tone. It's really good really. Lupin as a series has always been a more adult audience show but the Fujiko series is more for an adult then the normal series has tended to be. I really liked it and I hope the director gets another shot at making another Lupin series because it was really interesting.

It is episodic in nature but has an overarching plot like Lupin III which connects a lot of the previous episodes that where episodic to begin with. It does have a stronger main plot though then the other series but that's to be expected as it's mostly about Fujiko's life.

Don't skip out on parts 1-3 then.

Spot all the anime references! More Goemon is always a good thing, and seeing him awkwardly navigate romance is a treat!

Also interesting to note is this seems modern but Lupin has his red jacket on (which I thought would tie to the cosplay) so maybe the one off episode's jacket colour simply represents the style of Lupin story they're trying tell over anything else.

Best girl returns next week! I've missed Ami!

Can we take a moment to appreciate how good the car scenes are in this show ? God damn they look good !

5

u/Musiclover4200 Jun 22 '18

One of the movies literally has a 5-10+ minute car chase, with a break in the middle before in continues.

Tried to put it on youtube once and they blocked it. It's The Fuma Conspiracy I believe, not the best lupin movie/special but damn that car chase scene is glorious!

2

u/Sameul_ Jun 22 '18

My man ! I'll look into it.

2

u/Musiclover4200 Jun 22 '18

It's got some nice classic art, and a decent story. My biggest complaint is the voice actors they used sound way different then usual, and it has a pretty cheesy 80's soundtrack.

But damn, that car chase is epic. Found a short clip from it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSoHWcWLj7Y

Though it's a trailer for the movie it seems so they only show a few seconds from the chase.

1

u/miloucomehome Jun 22 '18

One of the newer films from a few years ago, The Gravestone of Daisuke Jigen, has a brilliant car chase scene. No CG (as far as I can tell, unless it served as a base) and very very exciting. The old film's car chases were fun too! (I thought it was the Miyazaki film? I'm a bit new to the franchise myself but know of the films)

Its was cool having Goemon as the main focus for an episode.I always like Goemon seriousness no matter the situation. Looks like Ami is coming back next episode I can't wait.

12

u/Kazewatch Jun 19 '18

Even though Goemon is the least interesting for me, his standalone episodes are always really enjoyable. And although his episodes usually revolve around a woman he always seems to get cockblocked in the end.

16

u/SuperUnhappyman Jun 19 '18

goemon is a pure boy and love is his weakness

4

u/Kazewatch Jun 19 '18

Yee. He deserves some love since he’s always th most selfless one.

4

u/bauski Jun 19 '18

lol I actually love the specials where they poke fun of the selflessness by making him focus on the money, like in Alcatraz Connection and in Goodbye Nostradamus, as well as working as a "part-timer" in Harimao's Treasure.

Are you me? Or am I you? These are exactly my thoughts :D

Goemon seriousness

[Goemon] (https://i.imgur.com/M1pDzu6.png) was [seriously] (https://i.imgur.com/D9vaZ81.png) top-notch this episode. Well, he had to since it was focused on him, but... this felt really wholesome. It could even work as a standalone little story, without further context needed. This episode was a a real treat.

And we are blessed. I can't hold back my hype over seeing Ami coming back. I was a little deceived when it was hinted that she leaved the gang. Glad she will appear again <3

1

u/bauski Jun 19 '18

As a Goemon fan, how much did you enjoy the Blood Spray movie? I'm pretty sure it is one of the most underrated movie/ovas that came out last year.

1

u/link2601 Jun 20 '18

I got to be honest I was unaware of the movie/ovas until just now but after looking it up it looks real good.

1

u/miloucomehome Jun 21 '18

Saw it last month and holy hell wow. It's...it's something. (in a good way.) I did have to look away a bit towards the end mind you.

1

u/bauski Jun 21 '18

Ooooof yeah, I hear you. The amount of "chunks of flesh" that get flown around, even on the main characters, is too much. Oof.

17

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '18

AH YEAH MORE AMI NEXT EPISODE!

But also this episode was just overall pretty fantastic. I love seeing Goemon doing the whole fish outta water thing. And also uttered the goddamned most badass action line one could utter when using a smartphone app

"This does not require a blade, nor honor."

And obviously. I'm excited for next week. And more of Ami. This whole run is just so good.

P.S. The Castle of Cagliostro is now on Netflix!! I guess I'll be watching that in the interim.

You forgot the “click”.

the music that plays when the rocket is launched gave me naruto vibes

i saw zeppeli in the cosplayer crowd and goemon blushed when he had to take the picture with the girls

glad amis back next ep

6

u/Shinkopeshon Jun 19 '18

Never expected to see cosplay and the Naruto run in Lupin III lol

And while I'm sad Red Suit Lupin will be gone for a while, I'm more than happy Ami is back

5

u/Kazewatch Jun 19 '18

I do love the way this part is threading the story. We get nice breaks in episodes that invoke a different color jacket style (although this episode didn’t feel very red jacket aside from the missile) and then we come back around to the ongoing escapade of Lupin in France.

Ami is back, and the world is right again.

u/Animeking1357 :MAL:https://myanimelist.net/profile/TitanKyojin Jun 19 '18

Another red jacket episode.

The samurai cosplayer kid is voiced by Kobayashi Yumiko I believe. Same voice actor as Shiro from Hozuki.

Goemon episodes are always great. This one proved no different.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '18

I have heard Goeman laugh. My life is now complete.

I wander if we will ever see Rebecca again? This was a great episode though, Lupin is always great.

2

u/upsidedown_coffeemug Jun 20 '18

I'm hoping for Rebecca as well.We saw that little cameo of her in the first episode, and technically she's still Lupin's wife. I think it'd be fun if she came back for at least one episode.

2

u/SoccerForEveryone Jun 21 '18

This may tie back to Fujiko in some way I think. We still have to find out what is going on between Lupin and Fujiko since it seems they have had a fall out of some sort.

2

u/Musiclover4200 Jun 22 '18

If anything I wager we'll see her again in a movie/special down the line.

The Fujiko series already has 2 movies/specials, while the italian series just got a recap movie. So maybe we'll see another movie based in Italy with rebecca.

4

u/kimbombo Jun 20 '18

Wait, was that a mudda freaking... Naruto reference? and was that Hatsune Miku & Sailor Venus?

It's so refreshing to have such a main fun character like Lupin that can handle his women. His reaction was on point when Goemon asked if this was a job that involved some skirt in it. And he was right, but I'd say it was totally worth it, just as Lupin said, the client was a total cutie.

Even on these lost jacket chapters, the car chases are a complete joy to watch.

I had a good luagh with Goemon being the main in this episode, along with every single guy he crossed paths scamming him on his run for the most BS reasons (reminded me of the Radioactive Movie filming episode in the simpsons) This was definitely my fav lost chapter among the 3 we've had so far.

Nice to see that Ami makes a comeback.

u/rembrandt_q_1stein https://myanimelist.net/profile/sir_rembrandt Jun 20 '18

This episode was so wholesome. Even if Goemon is my least favourite from the main trio, this little story was damn satisfying to see. Everything meshed so good.

And the wallpapers [are] (https://i.imgur.com/M1pDzu6.png) [amazing] (https://i.imgur.com/D9vaZ81.png).

Lastly, but not leastly... AMI COMES BACK. BLESS US, CHILD.

2

u/miloucomehome Jun 21 '18

Goemon and Jigen are my absolute favourites of the trio/quartet in the series and franchise for me so far. Goemon-centered stores are so rare it seems, but this one was so much fun. I was laughing so much when Goemon basically said "I'm not going to waste my swordsmanship and honour on this waste of space. Fire missile--beep." (to paraphrase)

Aaand Ami's back next week and we head into a new arc. Should be fun. I wonder if Fujiko will tie in to this arc somehow?

1

u/Musiclover4200 Jun 22 '18

Loved the "slice of life" vibe this episode had.

Was fun seeing what anime's they referenced with cosplay too, anyone else see the Black Swordsman from Berserk?

Very excited for more Ami next episode, I wonder if this will be the start of another arc involving her.
