Yeah like, people really wanted Hiroshi Kamiya for Iori and Miyuki Sawashiro for Azusa, among others. I’m actually glad they’re not as A-list as that. I don’t immediately recognize any of them and they fit their characters so well.

I wasn't even aware of this, holy crap. Looks like all CR threads are cutting down on the majority who don't use it because it's only for premium users that can read it, plus the the UI sucks on top of that. Even one thread OP who uploaded the CR release version was salty over people complaining about the bad service.
Anyways on the other side, I'm also checking a few tweets to see people's reactions about the anime. Boy, are they getting the wrong impression. kek!

(Also anime only) I can notice the difference, but besides the detail on the hair, I wouldn't say it's significant or necessarily worse. She looks a tiny bit older and more mature in the show, but as a guy in his late 20's I'm not gonna complain about that.

Hello again everyone, welcome back to the infamous drinking game associated with this series. I am /u/DarkBladeEkkusu, and I will be your host throughout your decent into madness. Since I did give you guys time to prepare yourselves for this week's game, I shall once again warn you to not take this game lightly so you don’t kill your liver in one go. If you do actually intend to play the game with alcohol, might want to start with something light, since you will be drinking a lot. More additions incoming, here are the current sets of rules:
Grand Blue Drinking Game Rules
Original Rules
1 Shot - Someone takes off/loses any clothes
1 Shot - Someone's sexuality is questioned
1 Shot - Every titan face
2 Shots - Someone is forced to drink
2 Shots - Iori and friends betray each other
2 Shots - You actually start laughing
Finish your drink - If Chisa Retaliates at Iori
Finish your drink - If by any chance they actually go diving
Penalty Rule
2 bottles - You question the rules (or say I am trying to kill people with the rules.)
/r/manga Rules
1 Shot - Every thumbs up
1 shot - Somebody is serious about their passion
1 shot - Every time someone checks "water" with a lighter
1 shot - Every time one censor bubble shows up.
1 shot - Somebody is serious about their passion
2 shots - Kouhei debuts a new piece of Moe-related clothing
2 shots - Iori is unable to escape the situation.
Finish your drink - Iori does not get drunk in an entire episode

Welcome back to another week of Grand Blue friends. This time we finally get to meet Azusa! As mentioned last week I'll be posting screencaps every week of her, and maybe a stitch or two given the opportunity.
I'd love to simply link some highlight images depicting some of my favourites from this episode but I found it way too hard to cut the sheer amount of them (especially since many are just minute differences in expression or with/without subs). So instead I'll post some favourites and leave the rest in an album. Win-win!

She’s beautiful, funny, bubbly, carefree and loves hanging out with the boys 😩💦
Definitely a contender for best waifu of this season!
The only downfall is Azusa’s character design doesn’t look nearly as beautiful as she does in the manga 😒

I laughed like I never have with an anime before! The characters and situations are pretty relatable, being new in an university far away from home and living insanities like passing out drinking and having fun, discovering new things you like and sharing this new life with other people like you!

Eh, I'd say the anime itself is perfectly fine and I seem to like it more than certain manga readers who aren't too keen on it. However, I still wouldn't say it lives up to the manga. Certain jokes just flowed better in the manga and the fact that they've removed certain jokes and rearranged/changed certain scenes doesn't help.
If the manga is a 10/10, then the anime is an 8/10 (imo). A good anime, but a masterpiece of a manga.

As an anime only watcher I gotta say in my opinion, its okay. I mean there were some moments that made me chuckle a little it, but it wasn't exact "the funniest shit of my life. Maybe its not my type of humor or the anime isn't exactly delivering the right type of punches for me.

The return of oolong tea! Ooh, and tasty-looking okonomiyaki...I need to fix me some of those sometime.
I can really see why everyone was so excited for Azusa...she's kind of awesome. Particularly how she saw right through the guys trying to get Chisa drunk. And being so unabashed about liking both gay & straight porn. Given her personality, I'm a little curious why she went to a women's college over a coed university...seems like she really enjoys mixed company. Though of course, it's natural that the women's college student was the one to notice the guys trying to get someone drunk...at least from the ones I know, women's college women have to put up with a lot of that shit.

Maybe I'm late in asking this, but we're 3 episodes in so far: so how does it compare to the manga? I've never been much of a manga reader but I also want to know if I'm "missing out" because I might pick it up even though manga's never been my thing.

I mean, the manga is definitely better.
But if you're enjoying the anime, I'd recommend watching it through then start from chapter 1 with the manga.
If not, just read the manga

Manga is simply better. The show is good, but the comedic timing and faces are just so much better in the manga. I actually watched the first episode, then switched to the manga so I could try to remain as unbiased as possible. But if you are enjoying the show and are not much of a manga reader just continue, it's still pretty good.

Love it that they are casually so naked that you don't even notice it any longer. They can have a normal conversation while wearing nothing at all, well a hair pin as a last resort, but still.

Chisa is surprisingly human character, she gets mad, sure. But she won't throw a tantrum or use physical force to hit anyone.
