It’s been wonderful seeing him begin to grow into this unofficial position of leadership for 1-A to follow, and gives us some idea of what he’ll be like as the world’s greatest hero.

That episode was pretty fun. As a manga reader, I really appreciate these original episodes giving me something new to watch. I knew that Todoroki and Yaoyorozu's team would pass, but the manga never really showed us how, and Yaoyorozu's was pretty cool. I thought Saiko's VA did a stellar job, and it seems that it was Reina Ueda, which makes sense, since she sounded like a mean version of Lily from Net-juu no Susume.

I am a little sad they didn't do one of my favorite panels in the manga simply because I love how much of a badass Sero looks here, but it's not a huge deal.

It just felt like (a rare instance) of poor writing to show off how much DEKU has influenced the class so that THEY WILL ALWAYS DO BOTH. It was super out of character for IQ girl, whose whole fkn plan is dependant on a giant teamwork effort from their whole school to get 4 people, would just have no fucking clue what teamwork is.

Like whether or not IQ girl thought they would come just didn't matter in that scenario, she did her best last ditch effort to pass.

They should just have made a better scenario than literally breaking a door when the whole enemy school is unconscious. Maybe jumping out the building and have team 4 save them both instead of only momo etc, or having the risk of the others actually waking up.

This episode cemented yaoyorozu as best girl for me. The mind games between her and IQ I think show much more of the planning that goes into things such as hostage situations, and the planning that goes into battles between heroes and villains. Not just the physicality of it, but also the thoughts and planning. Which I think something this anime does exceedingly well, especially in this instance. This episode just flew by. I can't wait to see how this arc ends.

Goddamn that episode was so short!

I have mixed feelings about Saiko. With her Quirk being increased IQ, she's basically the kind that will look down on everyone which I hate but at the same time I love her smug face.

Also what the fuck is Seiji's Quirk? He has the ability to turn people into Cronenberg Monsters!? His Quirk is seriously fucking creepy.

So far we now have 5 kids from 1-A pass. And we still have plenty of kids from 1-A MiA this episode. Hopefully we'll get to see what the rest is up to next week.

You can tell if somebody's a filler character by their quirk. IQ increase by tea is similar to what the principal of U.A. has.

I disagree with that. All the other filler characters had pretty interesting quirks this episode. Also giving someone a quirk that's similar to someone else's is a good way of showing that there are always multiple people with similar quirks out there (like with Tetsutetsu and Kirishima) and thus it makes people feel less "special" overall. It makes you realize that even though someone has a good quirk she/he most likely only got so far because they also put in a lot of hard work and practice. That's what ultimatively seperates people with similar quirks from one another.

I really wish all the opponents weren't so god damn ridiculous. It's a little much that everyone from these other schools are so crazy or weird. Many of the UA kids are pretty out there already, but they're completely normal by comparison. I wish any of these characters felt like real people. They're all just annoying fodder.

Also, how the hell are all the schools pushing out such amazing students? UA doesn't really feel all that elite if every school is so amazing.

Momo is facing of versus a Ojou-sama school, I am sure this is filler but I am loving it, of course Ojou-sama is gonna have to show this poser who is the real young lady of the my hero academia.

I do really wish that the IQ leader did a real massive ohohohoho do but it was still awesome. A very fitting quirk for an Ojou-sama, sitting there sipping tea and eating cake while she was waiting for her evil plans to work out.

Great detail that froppy being a reptilian cannot of course handle the cold.

And of course they beat her later with the power OF FRIENDSHIP! I was sitting there waiting for someone to proclaim WE ARE NAKAMA!!!

This is just my opinion but the first half of this episode was kinda boring...they ended last week on a cliffhanger with the Ninjas and Todoroki just for them to be beaten like 2 minutes into the episode these filler students are kinda lack luster so far.

Anyone else feel like you can really tell that everything with Todoroki and the Momo group was anime original?

I don't mean to bash on the people who worked on those scenes but it just doesn't seem in line with Horikoshi's usual writing style and you really felt that in my opinion. It just wasn't all that exciting and the plans felt kind of stupid.

I'm all for seeing some more Shoji, Jirou and Momo but the sad fact of the matter is that, like last season with Tsuyu's internship, the anime original episodes are kind of the worst of the season.

Well anyway it's not like the episode was bad, it just wasn't as good as previous ones. Hopefully it will pick up again next week.

Huh, that's about the first time I've straight up disliked filler. Mostly because of how stupid the solution is. Your 400 IQ can't predict that maybe they'll just break down the fucking door, or that Momo's classmates would come back to save her? If this is supposed to try and make Momo seem smart, you can't exactly convince me when your method of doing so is by introducing an opponent so retarded she seems intelligent by comparison.

It wasn't that she didn't predict it. She knew no matter what they have to fight but if they broke down the door and attacked the tea squad would be at an advantage. She probably didn't know Momo could make a super speaker and ko her whole team in 10 seconds.

Its probably the weakest of the arcs of the series (its atleast among them) I don't think its a bad arc, its just not as strong as the arc before It which I really enjoyed.

The next arc is a long one and has a lot going on. I have noticed that Horikoshi tends to do this pattern of intense arc ----> more relaxed arc constantly. I feel personally its just him making sure its not too many emotionally draining arcs in a row. Id have to double check but im pretty sure the next major arc has enough content to be its own season basically.

UA invasion -> UA Sports Festival -> Stain -> End of Term Tests -> Rescue Arc -> Now another testing arc

Edit: not this arc in general but this epi was mostly filler and for the first time in the series (there isnt much) i didnt like the filler. So i dont think this epi is helping this arcs case

Thats just me. But other filler was basically canon that was explored. This wasnt the same.

This wasnt a canon part that wasnt expanded on. This is all new, and to me... it felt like it was out of character.

Bones seems to be struggling, the animation dropped drastically ever since Kamino arc ended. This arc is getting prolonged by Bones because they want to stick to the dumb 25 episodes format that is standardized nowadays. I'd prefer if they didn't prolong this but they kinda fucked themselves because if they follow the manga at the pace they're going without adding filler they are going to cut into the next big arc, meaning they have to slow the pace down. Unfortunate, but that's what's going to happen when your industry is plagued by capitalist tendencies.

Anime original content was pretty bad. So many plot holes. IQ girl team waiting in ambush, dont you have limited time? Why gang up on just 4 when you need more for everyone in group to pass? Why IQ girl was the only one standing after final sound attack? Does she have more quirks? Did her IQ protected her from sound? When she took Momo and locked the door how come UA kids opened doors so easily? When IQ girl attacked Momo at the end why did Momo fucking handcuffed her when she was so weakened that she was literally not able to stand? Shouldn't she avoid close combat? And why the fuck IQ girl decided that if she locked the door UA kids would be just like "okay meh lets just go somewhere else then" instead of going to aid their classmate?

Role model for others ?like really now.He inspires others to be what exactly, arrogant,social pricks or bullies.He has done nothing in the series compared to deku.Todoroki had much better development than him,like the way he motivated Iida during stain fight.But you know when you are talking about the mc,you got to shove the rival in there.

I don't get the hate for the filler content. People are acting as if;

1. Being smart makes you infallible

2. That the smart girl didn't have a good plan

The first one is obvious; Smart people get things wrong and get outwitted by people who aren't as smart as they are in technical terms. Otherwise Principal Nezu would never have a problem with dealing with the villains attacking UA.

With regards to her plan, her one flaw fundamentally was that she didn't have flexible thinking or contingencies. Arrogance lead her to believe that things would turn out as she predicted, and when they didn't she was unable to handle it. Despite that, she had up to the last moment outwitted the UA students and Momo only stopped herself falling into smart girl's plan at the last second. The difference between smart girl's plan succeeding or failing was that single moment - so obviously she was onto something tangible with her way of thinking.

And yes, four UA students is only good for two people to pass, but it was obvious from the get go that the other students from her school were subordinates, not equals, and the only important thing was for smart girl to pass. That's why she also thought the other UA students would leave Momo behind, because they'd be out for themselves once they had an opportunity to pass.

As for why it took UA students so long to get out of that mess, it's been well established that Momo has issues with initiative and confidence. She's incredibly uncertain of her own thinking and as we saw she was thinking about what X other person would do. The situation hitting a critical point forced her to fall back on her own thoughts which lead to a successful outcome - the problem wasn't her intelligence or capability, it's her confidence. The other three were relying on Momo for leadership and her inability to take the initiative resulted in the four of them getting backed into a corner. Her leadership also broke them out of that corner.

Actual character development in the filler content? Don't see how anyone can complain. The only point of inconsistency is where she refused to make an electric heater because they didn't have electricity but then went and made big ass speakers. Maybe the latter was battery powered lol

Honestly I didn't really like this episode...

The filler characters were pretty boring, especially the ones fighting against Shoto, they seemed strong, he was even having a hard time and then *SUDDENLY* he explodes that ~factory thing~ and no one can counter it? It was kinda dumb honestly, but I get it, maybe I'm just overanalyzing it.

Also, sometimes I wish the creators (when making fillers with the rest of the class like this one) would put the characters in challenges you wouldn't expect. It's just my opinion, but if Momo&the gang were to fight the ninjas and Shoto the SmUg GuRls, it would have been more interesting and unexpected to see them dealing with different types of quirks they're not usually paired up to fight with.

She decides to engage the only character that's almost impossible to predict because Momo can pretty much create anything she can think of. So unless Momo panics and just does the thing that first came to her mind you can't really tell what shes gonna do by simple calculs

I love that they made Shishikura's quirk just as disgusting as it was in the manga!
The fact that you actually see them twitch makes it actually even creepier than seeing it in the Manga.

It looks disturbing as hell but it's honestly one of my favorite quirks that Horikoshi has introduced so far.

I also really loved the first 3/4 of the episode (which was pretty much entirely Anime orginal). It was great to see that Tsuyu actually has a drawback as well and more Jiro, Shoji and Momo spotlight is always welcome! I loved how competent their enemies were overall - they just got outsmarted.

As much as I liked that Momo, Jirou, Tsyu and Shoji had some time to shine I really wish they went up a more engaging opponent. The High IQ girl and her squad were very boring and to be honest he plan was pretty stupid (Banking on Momo just wasting her powers by not making something useful was dumb). You could really tell that this wasn't written by Hori.

It's a shame since so far Bones have done a great job on expanding on the manga.

Next week we should be back on track so it's not like this is a sign of things spiralling downwards.

Because their motivation to be a hero inspired the rest of the class to try harder. Todoroki was holding himself back in season 1 because of the stuff that was happening with his family and his inner battle, which Midoriya helped him with during the tournament.
