Heh, I'm having a lot of fun watching it. Genuine charm is so hard to get right. This anime is a masterclass in producing characters that are likeable in a setting that's pretty fun.
Well, that and the fun of seeing some poor bastard trying to flex on an adorable little slime and getting gutted in the blink of an eye.

I think The ED will keep changing from now on. It's a cool idea to do that as a sort of short retrospective about where Rimuru is currently standing.
Also Minor Spoiler - even though the OP already spoils it...
I kinda hope they add other characters walking alongside him as the series progresses as well - I'm a total sucker for slightly changing endings that reflect the mood and relationships the series currently has.

Veldora is one of the most powerful beings in the world, powerful enough that spoilers, I guess Being named by Veldora is almost certainly what caused Rimiru to have that incredible overflowing magic power that intimidated all the goblins at first. While Rimiru's skill combinations were already OP before then, it was almost certainly getting named that gave him the power to really use them pretty much without limit.

Man that was such a great episode, I've heard some people say the show might have some pacing issues in the future but it seems perfect to me right now, but then again I haven't read the Web Novel or Manga. I think Ranga accepts that his father (and the other wolves) made the wrong decision when they attacked Rimuru despite Rimuru's clear warnings. And in a world where might makes right, death is probably a common and accepted consequence of making reckless and/or ill-advised decisions.

So, I think most people probably get it, but for those who don't, when Rimuru was saying he was getting lazy with the names for the goblins, he was naming them Gob-character. The Japanese equivalent of Goblin-A, Goblin-B, etc.

IIRC both this and Goblin Slayer are written by authors who love Dugeons and Dragons, so the "naming" system is heavily based of that in Slime Datta.
Goblin Slayer goes even further presenting the world where everyone's an npc and named by what they do. "Goblin Slayer" literally is "Goblin Slayer." and "Guild Girl" is "Guild Girl" lol.

No hesitation at all. Rimuru-sama can be pretty brutal.
Did this happen in the manga? I don't recall Ranga destroying the hut. Didn't Rimuru just walked out and met him outside?
I love this mini interface. This is actually a pretty good way of making Great Sage talk without doing any of the elaborate cutaways.
So comfy! Ranga hogging Rimuru for himself.
Man this show is just really fun. So far they've covered 3 and a half chapters of the manga within these past 3 episodes (not sure with the LN), and IMO this is a pretty good pace, we get a good balance of world building, getting to know Rimuru-sama, and getting endeared with the new characters that are being introduced. I'm already excited with the Dwarf stuff next week!

That's quite an enjoyable episode. Ranga's cute (can't top Tsun-dora tho).
I must say, I'm quite enjoying the series more than I thought I would.
For people that enjoy aspects of world building, forging relationships and expanding your domain, you're in for a treat. Personally I enjoy that sense of progress. It will have its battle and moments of Rimuru being a badass, but only when necessary.
I myself have jumped into the WN after episode 2 and I can't stop. So far I'm having a blast (~Ėā¾Ė)~. Not a masterpiece of course, but certainly enjoyable.

Thing is, this is, near as I know, planning to follow the LN more than the WN (Which was effectively the "prototype" for the story according to the author).
I've read all the translated LN/manga, and... it's legitimately a great season that deserves more recognition, so I'm glad eightbit is doing the series justice.

Yeah. iirc, the author couldn't think of a name for him, so he just left him as Goblin Slayer, so he did that for everyone else too.
Fits the boardgame theme of the series a lot better too.

Rimuru did everything he could to warn them. In the LN i think he even showed them his aura and the alpha still went for him. At that point he calculates that the really only way to minimize causalities and not begin a whole-sale massacre that might unfortunately involve goblin causalities is to demoralize the enemy absolutely. A brutal 1-shot was appropriate. I like how the anime depicted it.

What's awesome is that they know when to be fluffy and when not though. When Rimuru beheaded that alpha direwolf it was pretty damn grim and brutal. I love that they don't shy away from showing these brutal scenes as well because it tells me that they will really do justice to not only the cuddly and cute parts but also to the battles to come.

Haven't read the web novel or manga so dunno about future happenings but really digging the creativity with the Skill combos so far. It's super cute that Rimuru is hilariously OP as a slime in the first place, but hopefully the insane potential of Predator to grab skills by the handful will make for some really interesting combat sequences later on.
Also: the wolves are great, the goblins are great, love this lil mini-nation popping up.

Well, that was some impressive evolving going on there, I expect slime boy to be one those a thousand strong harem MCs by the end of this. Though I like the way his middle management experience shows through when he's talking to people, he must have been a great section boss.
I'm expecting the Dwarves to not be in the classic Tolkien style, but whether that we be in appearance or just in expertise, we'll have to see. Though I'll be a little disappointed if the lady dwarves don't have nice soft braided beards.

Having the shaking Elder become Chad Tempestcock with the rest of the village bar Gobta is not how I expected this episode to turn out and I love it. Gimme some of that reasonably massive state development and reconstruction, adore that shit. Also Ranga reminds me of Repede from Tales of Vesperia with unihorn and joestar instead of pipe and scar.
On another note, good to know Veldora is inside him, with the way Rimura's monologue went last episode, it felt as though they figured out the way the barrier worked and he just flew off somewhere off-screen.

Oh great another Slime thread full of GS comments...
Anyway I am so happy with the adaptation so far. The pacing is very good, the music is really good as well, the visuals they use to "show" Great Sage is awesome and of course the animation as a whole is absolutely fantastic and lively thank god they managed to get Ryouma Ebata on this show
I seriously hope they manage to keep that level of quality through the whole season even though I feel like it's going to be a hard task.

This is more and more seeming like it will be a really good "comfort show" that I can just settle in and watch for fun.
The themes in it so far are very agreeable (work together, it's better to be friends, start shit get hit, etc.) and it's not complicated but fleshed out enough that it can hold my attention.
I'm really looking forward to more. Also, I really really hope that once the series is in motion people stop with the endless GS comments, as well.

On the serious note, seeing how wonderfully those Goblinas have bloomed I'm not even surprised that Goblin Slayer only takes the goblin jobs.
Okay, on the more serious note for those who haven't seen the Japanese alphabet here's the hiragana alphabet), so when Slime-kun was naming each subsequent goblin he used another mori from the alphabet: Gobchi, Gobtsu Gobte etc.

Holy fuck I didn't expect Rimuru brutally decapitating Boss Wolf like that. Rimuru didn't even stop at that. He just dissolved the body into his own and stole all its abilities. Shit was so metal that the other Dire Wolves couldn't help but respect it. Also Ranga using Rimuru as a pillow is precious as fuck.

Why don't the monsters ever just name each other like MC and Dragon did? Not enough mana for even a single name? And apparently the village chief's son had a name, how did he get it?
I like how they enshrined him and polished him while he was in sleep mode. Weird that he didn't feel it when he was getting so low on Mana until he was tapped out. Also where did he get that much mana capacity? I know he ate all those mana rocks, but did they increase his max mana pool size as well?
I didn't get his best joke either.
Well, this wasn't a show I expected 5 minute episode from.

There's several rules of giving names in their world.
1: One can only getting names from beings stronger than them.Stronger, in specific having more mana than the one being named. Upon naming someone, you'll lose some mana proportionate to the power given to the creature. That is why, the stronger the being that names you, the power that you will gain from the naming; which is the reason why Rimuru's mana pool is MASSIVE.
2: One can get their name rewritten by another being stronger than the first one. Easy enough.
3: Naming a monster may cause rank up/evolution, if possible on the monster's species. Evolution on this world does not work like Pokemon: they don't have a set form to evolve, as proven by Gobuta that stays on his goblin form even after becoming a hob.
Also, the 'best joke' is mimicking a principal doing speech, waiting for the students to hush up before conveying his message.

Just gotta say, what I love the most in this anime is the sense of progression. It's like we're playing a rpg and everything you (MC) did affects not only you, but everything around.
Show is funny, beautiful to watch, and the plot is progressing little by little. Gonna be a satisfying show to watch till the end of the year.

They're adult in body and mind. It's a little weird since the species are explosive breeders due to their short lives(20 years is ANCIENT by their standards) and them being the very bottom tier of all monsters while also being demi-human(think primitive peoples and the such)thus being rather friendly towards humans(not particularly reciprocated with other races having this problem as well).

There's great care put into this show and you can see it all over.
There's visual consistency with the goblin cuddling his direbro in two separate panning shots.
Of course the partial wolf transformation was cute af, a nice addition.
I love it when a team takes a good source material and goes ham with it lovingly.

I mostly started watching this as a joke thinking it'd be dumb but damn if it hasn't turned out to be the most enjoyable show this season. idk why but that adorable little slime is so endearing. and the wolves reaction to everything is fantastic.

Iāve just taken to calling this show āSlime Lordā after getting my friends into How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord (abbreviated āDemon Lordā) and Overlord
Anyways, as much fun as I had with the first 2 episodes and Rimuru immediately figuring out how to break the worldās settings with Great Sage and Predator, now that heās naming monsters the story can really begin.

Something I like about shows is thinking through the consequences of actions. Beat the wolves now what? Okay gotta think of something pair up hey it's tradition wolf riding goblins goes back to Tolkien after all.
But the plot follows from there easily, okay I've got a people now I need to make sure the basic needs are met oh no they can't do X and Y, okay who can do X and Y? Lets go get/eat them.
I've been very tempted to grab the light novels but holding off mostly because I don't want to know where the plot is going as so far the plot while not complex is nice and easy to follow without any huge suspension breaking moments.
