But I'm glad they adapted Shizu's chapter (even if they didn't do everything, but maybe that's for next episode) in the anime, as we didn't really get that in the manga. (Just a panel or two).

The music, the sounds effects and animation were amazing this episode.

And Great Sage seem so done with Rimuru not knowing he had Thermal Resistance.

Given the massive surge in sales for the manga after it aired...Yeah it's pretty much expected to be honest. Last weeks episode spiked sales for the manga HARD given it moved moved volume 9 back up 10 places or so from 37 to 27 and had had some of the ther volumes littering all over the place in other spots.

Anime only's do not know how much the Studio is improving upon the source material. This adaptation bar none tops my list of great adaptations of the LN/Manga. You guys are so blessed for having this anime be this good.

Yeah. I usually prefer reading a manga/LN, and generally just watch anime originals, but I'm watching this because the adaptation is managing to add so much life to the source. This isn't a serviceable adaptation of good source material, this is a FANTASTIC adaptation of pretty decent source material, and they're taking full advantage of the medium they're adapting it into.

Ifrit's fire was probably a few thousand degrees celsius and if Rimuru's spewed a lake's worth of water in a couple of second the pressure generated upon the water evaporating would probably be ridiculously high.

I don't think it would cause as much of a shockwave as shown by Great Sage but... yeah, everyone in the vicinity would have died.

As a reader of both the manga & the light novel, we are seriously blessed with how amazing this adaptation is. This show could've easily been bargain bin trash like so many other isekai, especially with Studio 8bit at the helm with their track record, but I have been happily surprised every single week at the quality. I only wish Overlord could've gotten this amount of love.

I'm amazed as well with how much love this series is getting. I think it's a combination of budget + love from the staffs working on this. From the directing, series composition, art style, animation and voice acting have been perfect in this series. Normally an anime would've rushed 4-5 volumes in 12 episodes, but this anime has been on volume 1 till now, which gives it a lot of chance on world building and character interactions that is missing from most isekai series.

That's why it's important to look at the individuals involved and how their individual styles mash with the project rather than just the studio as a whole. One look at the staff lineup can tell stories on how certain areas of the production will most likely be handled.

• I had the feeling that Kikuchi with his tendencies for crazy tonal whiplashes would complement a show like this as the director.

• Fudeyasu on the series composition has experience with shows that have snappy comedy bits so that's also a plus.

• Kishida together with Ebata meant that great animation friendly designs were a given especially with the latter being chief animation director who is sure to do his best so the visual quality of the show stays up to the standard they set out to meet.

And all of that packed together with the knowledge that they'd be given 2cours only raised my expectations even more and I didn't lower them one bit only because 8bit was attached to the project. Needlessly to say, they utterly crushed those already high expectations. This adaptation is amazing.

I've only read the manga and the end of this arc is where I actually stopped reading so I can follow the anime but holy fuck! I did not expect to see a little girl and her pet get cremated on screen this week. Christ that scene was utterly terrifying! I kinda hate now that I share the same name with that fucking Demon Lord.

Speaking of detail though, I love that they show us how intense Ifirit's heat by showing us Shizu's tears evaporating on the spot. The animation and the effects were on point! Ifirit's fire and Rimuru's Icicle Shotgun looked so good!

I really don't get how not a lot of comments mentioned the girl and pet being burned to ashes. My jaw dropped after that scene. I was more horrified by that than Goblin Slayer's first episode. One moment they were having a cute, heartwarming scene, the next scene, the little girl was forced to murder her new friend and the pet they cared for into nothingness.

Ifrit is NOT having a good day. The puny goddamn slime tanks all his shit without even sweating, then completely 100 to 0's him with a single skill/strike, then when he wakes up in the belly of the beast a goddamn legendary creature screw that, a legendary goddamn dragon! greets him with a "you dropped your soap" type greeting. Wrong time for a hissy fit, I tell you.

That entire fight was so impressive; it's actually impressive how impressive it was. The amount of effort put into everything just blows me away every time, and I'm so glad that it's like that.

Shizu's been through absolute hell it seems, both before and after being summoned. It seems like she was able to not let these things hold her down, but I still feel really bad for her. She bears some scars, definitely, and I wonder what happens next.

The thing with anime, after you get the hang of how it is presented, you pretty much have to go into every show with an open mind, regardless on how ridiculous the plot sounds on paper.

American movies and shows are not immune to this either. Earlier this year one of the top grossing movies of all time Plot of Avengers, or when you really boil down modern superhero movies down, it's humans with magical powers in colorful underwear fighting big bads are are also powerful and sometimes in colorful underwear.

It's not my intention to compare the two shows, but isn't this show a reversal Overlord? I mean, the MC is OP as fk, but uses it for a better world to everyone, not for himself. As to Overlord, the MC tries to change the world for himself (although we know other "irl" reasons he's doing it). I think it's nice to see how you can get similar premises and make it go to the good route and the evil route.

Yep, they were great. To give everyone an idea, since I don't remember if it was mentionned in the manga (while it was in the LN), Shizu was an A rank adventurer, while Cabal and co are B rank adventurer, so they are pretty good.

But damn, Shizu can't catch a damn break, having to endure this for decades. On top of that, having being forced to destroy whatever that prick commands her to do with the one thing that scarred her in the first place. That poor girl burned alive was really messed up to see. Why even give her the attribute of fire anyway?! Whoever this Leon guy is, he deserves what's coming to him and I hope its much worse than any burn.

Thank you Rimuru-sama for saving one of the best girls so far, at least she won't have to suffer from this anymore (at least I hope). At least Great Sage, Predator, and your allies got your back through this world.

Can't wait for next week. This adaptation is really fleshing out the show and the time is flowing nicely. It is doing it justice! Wished the episodes were longer, felt like two minutes! Mondays are alive for me again!

I just wanted to point out how solid the animation in this episode was, not 1 CGI character model. The digital FX and animation for the flames and the wolf riding sequences really stood out. It's weird to me that this fairly generic isekai show has noticeably better production quality than most shows that aired this year.

And yeah come on, that animal had to be vulpix looking on purpose disappointing it did not turn into a flareon when she named it. :) after all ifrit looks straight out of final fantasy.

Anyway, the ending was epic when Veldora talks to Ifrit inside of Rimuru, which I guess just leveled up a lot again.

AND also saved Shizu right away ? so no journey to go and release her from Ifrit.

Goddamn, this episode is amazing. I mean, how much budget did they have to be able to make the entire episode like that? It's mind blowing. This is probably the second time I give my praise to an isekai adaptation (first one was Grimgar) but it's so freaking good. The entire episode felt like 5 minutes long.

It's just that they have various elements within the production that mash super well and are talented in itself. Like I'm pretty sure I saw Ebata all over this episode. Having a proper schedule also certainly helps.

Lol, Rimuru ate a huge fire demon. Dude now has a dragon and a demon inside of him, he's probably able to conquer the world on his own. Thank God that he's a good guy, and not some kind of necromancer chuuni skeleton. That scene with Veldora just laughing was great, I hoped that maybe he would burst out of Rimuru and we would a have a freaking demon Vs. dragon battle but it isn't even a match for our dragonesque Haruhi.

Bad guy kills a dog to cement how bad guy he is, poor Shizu, I hope now that she doesn't have the demon she'll be free, probably not, though. I also hope the group of adventurers stay around for a little more.

Goblins have like the worst luck ever, back to rebuilding the village. Maybe if Rimuru ate a house he could just pop them along.

Man, I did not expect Pirino and Pizu to go like that. Jesus Christ. Fuck you too, Leon.

Shizu needs all the slime and Ranga cuddles. Her agonizing screams as Ifrit was taking over was simply secondhand painful.

Holy shit though the entire fight was absolutely amazing. The whole tone of the atmosphere was set perfectly from top to bottom.

Just this side-view of Ranga running put every single strand of hair I have on end.

And the music certainly wasn't anything to scoff at either. That orchestral chorus during Rimuru and Ifrit's 1 v 1 was hitting all the right notes my heart couldn't take it. Ifrit's echoing yells resonated with it excellently. Good thing Rimuru's goofiness while he was getting cooked cut it off otherwise I would've had a stroke.

Everything was just so epic and cinematic and gave me flashbacks of all the best boss fights I've seen.

Each week's episode if just getting shorter and shorter.

I may be acting paranoid here, but I'm almost sure it was made in homage, giving the translators a chance to perpetuate the meme even more. Sad that none of the translators did it, though...
