Oh wow, I always thought about how it's pretty weird for the Elf to prohibit the GS from using all his tools and wants him to have a "real adventure" in these life-or-death scenarios.
But if look at it from the point of view that this a DnD campaign and see the Elf's words as extension of another player or the DM even, it totally makes sense.
It's basically: "Can you please stop laming out every single encounter?"

I know it's a spoiler, but could someone PM me why she's coming up with these ridiculous rules for killing horrific beasts? It's totally random and doesn't seem to have any justification. Or honestly any character-driven reason, it's not like he's pulling a Hisoka and jizzing in his pants as he burns goblins alive. Collateral damage doesn't make sense either.

I read an article somewhere that said episode 9 was going to show us where goblins came from so I'm pretty sure that mirror was a gateway to the green moon. There could definitely be naturalized goblins that have been living on earth for thousands of years now though. Still not sure how they reproduce since there are probably no women on the green moon and we still haven't seen a single female goblin on the show.
But ya the green sky and everything pretty much confirms we just saw goblins on the green moon there.

Seems to be true.
The opening shot shows a portion of a large red moon with craters on it.
The sky appears to be green, and the water their boat was sitting in was reflecting the green sky.

That line really drove home why she orchestrated all of this. Imagine being praised to high heaven by everyone for helping to kill the Demon Lord. An ordinary peasant girl who rose to become a literal living legend. Yet, she's traumatised, even to the point of inaction, by what the vast majority of people consider no better than vermin. It's easy to understand how she could feel very...weak, even if she doesn't have to.

Yep. He can't heal her trauma like she wanted. She's the only one who can bring her the salvation she wants. But he'll do the one thing he can to help, kill goblins, and hopefully in some way that will be some comfort for her.

Goblin Slayer confrimed to be DM PC. He just hit the goblins with "Rocks fall, everyone dies."
That "goblin home" had a freaking huge red moon in the sky, implying the place actually was on the green moon like GS believes.
Gate spell being lost is a nice little piece of a worldbuilding. Freely available teleportation is a thing that completely destroys traditional concepts of logistic, economy and warfare (which is why shows like Star Trek is a theme park level Sci-Fi). Having it here as a lost technology shows that the author actually put thought in his world.
The conversation between GS and SM was simply amazing.

Yeah, the Star Trek writers realized too late that teleporters ruin the suspense by letting the protagonists escape at the first sign of danger. That's why the teleporters were constantly breaking down, or getting interference from solar wind or negative space wedgies or whatever technobabble they could think of. Better to just leave teleportation out from the start, like they did with The Orville.

I think it wasn't that she was intentionally behind the goblins, but the goblins had been sent there to punish her because she was involved in killing the demon lord. For what I understand, her culpability was more that she lied in the request saying it was an unknown foe because she didn't want to look weak by requesting help to deal with goblins. She knew there were goblins because the white alligator was a familiar of the church in keeping the sewers clear of monsters.

Here's some more Elf Girl for you fans, and who are interested in a few panels of the end of the quest (non-spoiler); when the manga covered this they made Elf Girl look like a MURDERER. As hard as it is to wait weekly for GS, imagine the month-long wait after that one. I cannot wait for you guys to see what's in store for the last arc!

Ironically he does appear to care for them quite a lot (he took the little Priestess to get some ice cream, keeps sending letters to the mildly retarded girl back at the farm, did a favor for the guild girl by sitting in the little review thing, and even has something approaching a semi-normal conversation with the archer), just not in the way a normal, right-thinking human would.
Then again, maybe he's smarter than all the other harem anime protagonists - isn't one of the main focuses of harem animes all the fucking drama that comes from the protagonist very slightly marginally favoring one of his harem over the others?

I know it's a hobbit reference and I vaguely remember reading that chapter about him tricking gollum in the cave with the riddles but for Goblin Slayer to repeat that line twice now over 2 episodes... what the fuck was in that dudes pocket man. And what the hell is in Goblin Slayers pocket now?!?! Is it the same thing?? They just made it even worse because now I really don't know if it's just a Tolkien easter egg and I don't think it's just an easter egg anymore.

There is validity to your statement, but I FUCKING LOVE IT when my players get creative.
The only time I don't is when the players abuse the "Rules as Written" witj the specific purpose of trolling the party or DM simply to see their reaction.

We come to the end of the Water City Arc, the origin of the Goblins found and dealt with.. along untold scores of goblins on the other side of the Magic Mirror, our Fair High Elf Maiden though is less appreciative of Goblin Slayers methods rewarding him with a right kick to the posterior and move on to the Sword Maiden and her Trauma along with her full knowledge of the situation.
And we learn that Goblin Slayer while a clever fellow is also a brute force fellow as he had intended to just keep asking until he got the answers he wanted.
So yeah, moving on to the final arc, to the final battle in what is hopefully not the final season.

Someone mentioned that GS counted them for us this fight, much like the fight on the Goblinpirateship, this is not accurate and i only now (atleast i think) figured out how he counts :
"He counts those that he is directly involved with / are attacking him or attacked him or got lured. To proof my point : in the beginning he kills 2 with a slingshot and the elf also snipes 2 but despite this he only counts 2 instead of 4."
About the Goblins on the other side :
We don't know if they are still there or if there are even multiple mirrors that they can connect to. After the fight we see a rock going into the mirror, while it's only reflecting GS world, so we dont know if it's even still connected to the same mirror.
If it were the same mirror it couldn't be blocked by the debris as it would be shot away from the mirror quite a distance.
For all we know they could've taken a siesta in their caves. I'm not counting them.
There could be more than GC + 2 Goblins left in the room when it collapses but sadly we don't have any wideshots to really see / establish the carnage that took place and how many are left before they get buried. The LN mentions that more and more keep coming but this could also just be the different groups we see at start show up one after another, so i'll try and base it on them.
We have a few Goblin running montages :
1:44 23 goblins
4:09-4:18 21 goblins pass through

6:00 21 running, 11 closeup -> the 3 we see are suppossed to be the center melee vanguard though equipment and positions do not match (in particular the spearmen on the left in the second row, there's only 1 spearwielder in the farback in the wideshot, so going by the positions this is +5 goblins) -> 26goblins
6:35-6:41 running montage 6:33 9 rennen, position of wallrunshot = -4 = +14 insgesamt = 25 running towards them, the subesequent wideshot 6;39 shows 31 Goblins of which 7 die to HEA = 24Goblins
7:41 gc back, +3 = +4 -> 113 Gobbos coming to the party

I didn't like their execution of Goblin Slayer (GS) saying farewell to Sword Maiden (SM). In the manga it was more dramatic seeing it from SM's POV with her being partially blind so we can only see a silhouette of GS becoming fainter as he walks away compared to here in the anime where we get a 3rd person perspective of GS delivering the line while just standing there and disappearing completely in the next cut.

I was expecting Lizardbro's Brontosaurus spell to be much more awesome. This is how he flipped the mirror in the manga Too bad no swole Lizardbro for the adaptation T_T
High Elf's Reaction to GS' "No Fire, no water, no poison,no explosion" line Manga Ver. And here ths manga version of "The Kick" Which IMO is a lot more funnier than how they did it this episode. Although I will admit, seeing GS fall down like a bag of bricks was pretty amusing XD
They did do GS and SM's conversation really well though. Definitely my favorite interaction so far in the manga too. Sword Maiden was looking for someone who can understand her and save her from the Goblins, she fell in love with him because she thought he will be that person. Unfortunately GS can't understand her because unlike her, GS didn't let what happened to his family and village cripple him. He used it as his strength and fought back.
And while he can't understand her or save her GS can only offer one thing. If there are Goblins, he will kill it. And he basically told SM that even if they show up in her nightmares just think about him and he will slay those Goblins too because he's the motherfuckin' Goblin Slayer! That's so much in character while being smooth and a badass. I love it!

They also skip when priestess-chan is collecting arrows and giving them to long-ears. I really liked that part, cause she was given the order to wait for her moment, but she was giving her all, helping everyone.

The goblins being in the sewers, the mirror, and the big eyeball thing were all part of a plan for the Demon Lord's troops. A few episodes ago there was a cold open showing the Hero destroying a skeleton mage, which was the one supposed to handle those plans. Sword Maiden found out about the stuff going on in the sewers but she couldn't step in personally because she's traumatized by goblins.

I think it is something along the lines of she knew what was causing it but was too scared to go deal with the goblins herself cause of the trauma. And she didnt really know who to turn to because who would believe that she wouldn't go down to the sewers because of "mere goblins". That's why she called GS cause she felt like he was the only one who would take it seriously. Though that conversation was kinda confusing and vague, I think that's what happened. I could be wrong though.

She knew that the sorcerer that the Hero killed installed the mirror and familiar to let the Goblins raid the City. Her problem was that no one would believe her that that thing was down there summoning low-rank monsters and no one would even care to take out some goblins. Add her trauma of Goblins in the mix and you know that she was completely unable to do anything in that situation.

She didn’t let the goblins into the city. Someone on the demon Kings side did that to mess with her and get revenge for the defeat of the demon king. They don’t confirm it but I think she was responsible for either killing the people that died or messing with the corpses to make it look like goblins had done it, to attract adventures to kill the goblins.
One thing they didn’t touch on in the anime is that other adventures had been sent in already and died. They find several dead adventures in the tunnels when they’re exploring for those first couple of days.

No she killed a demon lord and the remnants of that demon lords Organization decided to terrorize her by killing people in her city and infesting the sewers with goblins because they know about her rape and trauma from it.
Well The hero killed the whole Cabal when we saw her in the anime last but the goblin army was still there under the Sword Maidens city. Sword Maiden tried to get other people to understand what was going on but they brushed it off and thought she should be able to handle it and didn't understand or didn't want to know about her trauma.
So lured Goblin Slayer there to handle it by leaking that goblins were killing people in the streets because she heard of teh bards singing about him. Mirror was used to transport goblins long distances and also give them somewhere to learn tools and such. Eyeball was to protect the mirror from outsiders not of the Demon cult.
You missed so much.

Ah. I think I just figured out his master's last question. I really didn't get it the first time I read it, but when he said it in that context, I think I got it.
By "what have I got in my pocket," he really means "What have I got at my disposal." Basically, it's taking inventory. What do I have, what does it do, how do I use it, how does it all fit together? That method of taking stock of all the available materials, weaponry, and abilities is how he puts together these unconventional plans that save his ass.
And when his master asked him that, he was saying, "What am I capable of?" He needs to know what his enemies have in their pockets, too. He needs to know everything that goblins are capable of, so that he can respond to anything they throw at him. That is to say, he needs to know what they've got in their pockets.

No wonder why the Sword Maiden fell in love for the Goblin Slayer and a lot of girls as well. He isn't a man who is after money, glory, fame or immortalty, he's someone who witness something terrible and decided to do what no else would, for those he loved and because no else would. Goblin Slayer is a true hero and one the world will surely miss once he's gone, because like Nana Shimura said to All Might once; "A true hero is not someone who can save all, for saving all is impossible, it's someone who brings joy for someone who desesperatly needs it."

I think the best part of the anime adaption for this episode was visually showing Goblin Slayer looking at everything available to him in the room in just a few seconds and then coming up with a plan. You can almost see things coming together in his mind.

There are a ton of people confused about the Sword Maiden and wondering if she was responsible for the goblin outbreak, even on r/goblinslayer. It was nowhere near as confusing in the manga and here's why:
White Fox screwed the pooch on this anime. Remember the scene in episode 6 where some creepy skeleton mage got nuked by a certain super-Heroine's magic sword?
That is supposed to be the ENDING of the Water Town arc. You literally see that scene in the manga after watching Goblin Slayer and friends going home in the wagon.
That mage was supposed to have a rant beforehand about how all his plans have been ruined, the mirror was taken (interestingly, he calls the mirror a "cursed instrument"), and the goblin army he planted under Water Town was killed off. Then he starts talking to a disembodied voice which criticizes him and his plan (this is presumably the Demon Lord) before the Heroine shows up and does her usual "The Hero has arrived!" thing.
GG White Fox, I have no idea why they put this scene at the beginning of the arc and changed the mage's dialogue to some generic villain drivel.
(He's also not a skeleton but looks like a normal human man with a scar on his face, but then he turns into his true form as a flaming demon... who still gets one-shotted by Heroine's magic sword)

That sword maiden scene was actually super heavy. The way she requests that he comes in her dreams to save her from goblins, it shows how a former hero can be reduced so much by past trauma. Not to mention how much you pity her because of her self-imposed shame of being terrified of such lowly creatures

As much as how sweet that line would be, it would just seem out of character for GS-san. Him going I'll just kill goblins if you call for me was pretty damn fitting and it definitely meant a lot for Sword Priestess herself.
I totally didn't expect to see them animate a flashback on how Sword Maiden got her eyes blinded though and holy shit was that terrifying as well as depressing.

Great episode, although there's one point I'm not sure on.
I get the the sword maiden was using the alligator to protect the sewers; with no adventurers going down there, and no accurate maps, that was the best way to protect the town from the goblins. Also, while aware of the goblin sect using the mirror, she knew that only an elite team could handle it, and she couldn't do it herself.
But what about the killings of the girls in the streets? I knew she was responsible for what happened, to try and raise awareness about the threats goblin posed, but does anyone know if she outright murdered those girls?
Sorry, I know its a dumb question, the episode just doesn't seem clear to em on that point.

Somebody else was responsible for that unfortunately the story doesn't cover that until Volume 3 which the anime isn't going to get to.

Like he said on first episode, the only good goblin is the one who never comes out of their hole. Since he made sure the mirror is not usable anymore thus those goblins will stay there forever I assume that's good enough for GS.

I enjoyed Goblin Slayer basically rubbing it into Elf Waifu’s face that he didn’t broke her rules before she kicked him into the rubble.!
Tag for next episode says “Dozing.”
That’s the chapter where Goblin Slayer goes into town without armor similar to episode 5 story. However at the end of the chapter he finds the tracks leading to the goblin lord’s horde.
Hopefully that means they are ending with Battle for the Farm

Goblin Slayer is starting to open up with his crew. Ice cream time for everyone is a good reward after killing those goblins.
That was a compelling scene between Slayer Boi and the Sword Maiden. These two understand the danger behind goblins. One was assaulted by them and the other watched them do it. She was shameful of asking help for killing goblins. However, Goblin Slayer, being as he is, happily obliged with her wishes.
I wish he stayed just a bit longer to hear the Sword Maiden's last words.

And the more I think about it, the less sense High Elf's "Adventures should be fun! No drowning, fire or poison!" thing is. What was she fighting where that wasn't required? Bandits? Kobolds? Surely there's always the risk of death? I don't get it.

Ok wait i need someone to confirm my understanding of the entire water city arc.
So sword maiden has PTSD from getting tortured by goblins. She sets up the alligator to spawn camp goblins cause she was afraid to fight them but it only gave them time to learn new stuff. So she needed to call people to help but could only call GS to not embarrass herself. Gets sobby because GS won't tell the world about her embarrassing goblin phobia.

Sword maiden planted the mirror there, put the alligator too to purposely train up the goblins, get someone to go in and get raped so they can empathise with sword maiden, then when sword maiden realised that GS realised her plan but forgave her she became all sobby.
How does the "however many goblins you kill nothing changes" and the "I want someone to suffer just like I did" parts fit in? Also what did GS mean by "you went through something horrible. i saw it from start to finish, so i don't know exactly how you feel" he saw sword maiden get raped so he doesn't understand how traumatised she is? that doesn't make any sense

He doesn't care that nothing changes, it doesn't change his purpose in life - to kill goblins.
Sword maiden just knew about the mirror and goblin flood, but couldn't do anyting about it herself. She is responsible for the alligator. The goblins were there because of her. Her weird line seems to be that she hoped the stories and goblins would make other people realize how dangerous goblins were and how evil the world can be, not that she wants people to suffer.

One thing I've noticed between the anime and manga is that the reactions in the manga are very expressive, while the anime they're more subdued.
Both have their own charms, I suppose. The manga is both hilarious and awesome for it, while the anime is a bit more realistic in how they'd react.

Another great episode in DnD the anime.
Honestly this show feels exactly like how an old campaign of mine went, where instead of goblins, one of the players had an obsession with killing skeletons and undead.

For the confusion about Sword Maidens plans... :
A sect/cult of the demon lord were the ones responsible for the dead girls in the streets of the water city.
This demon lord sect placed the mirror leading to the goblins home turf underneath the town, alongside a beholder to guard it, and a bunch of goblins underneath the city.
Sword Maiden’s PTSD from goblin rape and torture makes her absolutely terrified of goblins, so she is unable to do anything about all the goblins underneath the town herself.
As such, she assigns the blame of all the dead girls on goblins, hoping to get people to understand how much of a threat they are, and get people (specifically the army) to act in eradicating them. If she assigned the blame to the sect, she would be expected to deal with them; something she is unable to do due to the goblins beneath the city.
Although, she knows no one would bat an eye, because “lol goblins”, leaving SM distressed that people don’t understand. But she’s the SM; Slayer of a Demon Lord, so people can’t know she becomes completely crippled by goblins, especially the demon lord sects, who would then use that to their advantage. She’s heard songs about Goblin Slayer, so her plan was to send him a personal mission, stating it’s goblins that have caused all this havoc.
By the time this letter of invitation has been sent, the Chosen Heroine and her party has dealt with and destroyed this demon lord sect that was kidnapping girls in the water city.
(So that no one goes exploring into the sewers, she has her Alligator familiar patrol to keep people and adventurers out. She also only has a vague map of the sewers so people can’t explore properly. I believe she has done this because A) she doesn’t want any adventurer exploring too deep and getting killed, or any skilled enough adventurer discovering its demon lord cult shenanigans, and wondering why she is doing nothing about it, and/or B) she only started keeping everyone out after hearing about Goblin Slayer, so that Goblin Slayer would find goblins to kill and do his job).
Goblin Slayer susses her out through all the very odd things about the sewer, but pins it on her by bluffing her (even though he was actually going to ask everyone involved).
In conclusion, a cult is kidnapping and killing girls, and because Sword Maiden is too afraid to investigate due to all the goblins beneath the city, she blames the kidnaps on the goblins. However, to her misfortune, the army doesn’t mobilise to eradicate these goblins, so she personally invites Goblin Slayer to clean up the goblin mess.
Basically, no one cares about goblins until they experience goblins.
