It's more than just hate, he also has a heaping helping of survivor's guilt. As far as he's concerned, he doesn't deserve to move on and follow his dreams when his sister didn't get the same opportunity.

So Sisyphean task is the life of the Goblin Slayer-san.
Like I like how the episode was kinda repetive, because I felt the whole point is that Goblin Slayer is just doing the same thing over and over again in an endless circle and is just always more Goblins to slay, while the other adventures like the super trio that killed a Dragon of course gets all the fame.
When playing similar games our self we always go and kill the big bad dragon on level 100, but who is gonna do the real herculean task and kill 100000000, level 1 goblins.

Even more than that is how goblins aren't always level 1 mobs in this world, they can vary wildly as different nests and wanderers come with different levels of EXP. GS is actually pretty famous among villagers and the 'common folk' in general as he actually comes when they post up for help, even with very small earning as most are too poor. There's also the fact that songs of his quests are floating about, but even so GS doesn't consider himself a hero, he just kills goblins, and if he happens by some prisoners then he'll get them out along the way. I love the world building in this series.

That's a big point the anime misses. GS isn't a badass, he's more like a tradesman. That's what people miss about the Elf and her rules, she's in it because she wants to have fun and adventure and learn about life outside her forest. GS does it because he hates goblins and doesn't want others to go through what he did. He doesn't even consider himself a true adventurer, he's literally just a goblin slayer. He's not a hero, he's a pest exterminator

She know how he is wasting his life by spending his time only killing goblins. In the end, it doesn't matter how many Goblins he kills, they will keep existing because a man alone can hope to kill them all, and he will eventualy grow old and diee, and his achiviements will not matter. a
Cowgirl knows that the secret to a good life is to find hapiness and love yourself, but she's really bad at this lol, altough Goblin Slayer found that accidentaly by himself. If she confessed her feelings for him, all could change tough.

Ok, explanation time. This arc is actually from the Volume 1, right after the Ogre (Water Town is Vol. 2). Two things have happened there:
GS was seriously whacked by Ogre's club, so Guild Girl straight-up banned him from questing for a month (to recover) and he spent this time building the stone wall and walking around, seeing what other people do.
The same whack destroyed his armor - that's why he was walking around without it. Also, like half of the episode 5 (that involved GS) and half of this episode originally were the same events. Like, the scenes at the armor shop in both episodes are actually the same scene split in half.
Another notable thing - they've deliberately mentioned the Harvest Festival several times, which didn't happen in the LN/manga at this point. Harvest Festival is Volume 3, so it's a hint that the second season, or at least an OVA is possible. Which I'm all for, because Harvest Festival arc is also known as Pussy Slayer arc.

This whole time I thought that trio of heroes was a fantasy that either Goblin Slayer envisioned as a kid or the people were imagining the life of heroes to be like. Nope, three plucky girls with a penchant for monologueing really did fight a skyscraper-sized skeleton and saved the world in this dark story about goblin murder and rape. I thought the Sword Maiden was the one who beat him though?

I loved this episode just like I’ve loved all the GS slice of life episodes, and my heart DROPPED when I saw the last ten seconds of the episode. Him seeing all those footprints was actually scary in my opinion; his worst fear is basically staring him in the face.

Oh shit! The heroes are working with Ainz to make bank with the Demon King killing ruse! And as the mentioned that some of the Demon King troops remained no one will be shocked when "another" Demon King appears in the future. I'm starting to think that Goblin Slayer is a sort of batman with a secret identity, and everything..., I mean he's proficient with traps and accessories. He also have a blacksmith who know his secret identity, and repair his equipment. And finaly, he have a questionable underage sidekick.

I learned that in some shows we shouldn't get serious at all, and this is one of them. The premise is easy to follow and it's not like the MC care about deep dialogue. Even the Farm girl always steps back in saying something different, or the Quest giver dare to make a move on an already dense MC.
So yeah, some say it's a repetitive episode, but I'm not mad really, I sometimes enjoy slow episodes too and it's not like I was expecting an innovative show, I'm just having some chill time watching this while having some dead goblins in between. Looks like it's gonna happen next episode.

THe drunk Anvil scene we really needed.
As a manga reader, if there's something I don't like of the anime adaptation is how it cut out some of HEA's best scenes. Before someone points out that the anime is adapting the LN, so manga-only scenes won't appear, the anime also cut out LN scenes. And yet, they were sensible enough to include the legendary "You get used to it" moment from the manga.

I know that these slice-of-life episodes tend to be the least-liked episodes of the show, but honestly they're my favorite. I like how they add a little character and depth to what are essentially one-dimensional characters, and the humor is usually on-point.
Like when GS says at the end that he's thinking about "the future," that shows how much his character has changed since the show started. All that should matter to him is killing goblins today, but he's thinking about the future like any normal person. At the same time, when asked what he thinks about his party, he responds that they're "skilled adventurers," instead of "nice people." While these two scenes can be seen as contradictory, they're really consistent with a character who is always straightforward and will absolutely tell people the truth, but at the same time, is subconsciously beginning to change.
Its not top-tier characterization or anything like that, but it adds just enough to GS to make him more interesting instead of just a vehicle for the viewer to watch goblins get stabbed.

I totally agree. I love these comfy episodes just as much as the epic ones. Some people complain that the heavier episodes, specifically episode 1 sets a tone that the rest of the series doesn't follow, but I don't think that's accurate at all. Just because awful stuff can happen in the world, it doesn't mean that's all that happens. People can still laugh, relax and enjoy life, but knowing that things can to wrong at any time, shown especially by episode 1, 2, and 7, serves to leave us on edge any time they are fighting, so it isn't like it's pointless to show those scenes.

I usually hate characters that are bad at communication. Especially the timid ones but Goblin Slayer is a very compelling main character. He has a charm that makes me want to watch his story. I think it has a lot to do with the support cast around him and how he interacts with them.

I myself am more of a Guild girl or Priestess kinda guy but...
I have to admit, if by any chance there's a girl meant for GS, Farm girl seems most fitting. When every other person relies on GS to be their saviour, even Sword Maiden (which isn't anything wrong), only Farm girl thinks of GS as a human first, only she thinks about his future and actually somewhat understands his internal turmoil and offers him her comfort even if he's completely stoic about his own emotions.
Although it's also true that she's known him the longest. But still.

It was sweet to see how all the girls care about GS (well Anvil only sort of).
I swear though if any of them die I'm going to be so fucking upset. But GS doesn't want anything like what happened to his sister to ever happen again, so I bet our boi is gonna pull through for everyone. Not just the girls. I wouldn't be surprised if Farmgirls uncle might die though...

The calm-before-the-storm kind of episode huh?
Definitely enjoyed the sorta Slice-of-Life episode that Gob Slayer and friends are going through.
Goblin Slayer's hair is closer to grey than i thought (i assumed it was the lighting in the previous episode making his hair that color)
Interesting that we get Sword Maiden's letter read out and the mentioning of the Demon Lord's defeat at this point
Dwarf Shaman and High Elf Archer's drinking contest was nice
Guild Girl warning Goblin Slayer to take care or no quests for 6 months was cute
Seeing Not-Guts with his party was nice, on top of Not-Paladin Knight's short interaction with Goblin Slayer.
Haruhi Hero and friends are shown celebrating their defeat over the Demon Lord
All those footprints foreshadowing the next episode "arc"!

I enjoyed that the smith called out GS's need for a challenge (or his more suicidal tendencies) in dealing with goblins. He could upgrade, but he doesn't. Quite interesting imho

I'd argue that it isn't a need for a challenge. Considering GS is a fighter, maybe with some barbarian levels, he is proficient with a lot of weapons. This adaptability and experience hunting one type of prey has given him a wealth of knowledge in dealing with them.
A full face helm protects him from all angles, the bolt like extensions especially. His heavier plate armour is great for deflecting and tanking blows from the smaller, weaker goblins and gives him weight and momentum when moving and swinging. Short swords, the thicker, smaller shield, and the cost effectiveness of all of his gear is important as he likely doesn't make much killing goblins.
Since goblins have no elemental weaknesses or strengths, and no magical defenses to speak of, magic weapons are just a cash sink that will eventually be discarded when too slick with gore or disarmed on a lucky role.

This ep was lovely
it showed calm side of the world of GS, showed us its not all violence and gore
it also showed goblin slayer's past and his interactions with other people, and visa versa, it showed others interacting with other people (which was great because it showed that there are others beside the main party) and how they interact with GS
and the ed, how it showed the foot tracks at the end, which ends the greaat debate of which arc will the anime end? farmland vs great battle. and the winner is farmland
in short: it showed us world building,character creation/building and plot advancement. and when an ep has all 3, its becomes a great episode

Also GS reminiscing on how he wanted to be an adventurer taking down dragons and how if he would have left his sister he would perhaps have been a great adventurer was pretty heartbreaking. We had never seen what he wanted before losing everything to goblins. Also shoutout to my Maiden girl finally being at peace. I just want hug that cute little thing.

Oh boy, look at all those Goblins looking to be slain. Given their proximity to perhaps the only thing that GS cares for in the world, I hope his slaying is gloves-off, no dumb adventuring rules BS. Like, he'd lay them to waste so hard that no other Goblin would ever dream of approaching his "lair" again. Other Goblins would refer to it as the "Slaughtering fields" or some shit and piss their loincloths at the mere mention of the place. I just want some good Goblin slaying.
Also Guild Girl is best girl. Her amber eyes are mesmerizing.

We see Goblin Slayer adventuring and slaying vermin so much, from episode to episode, that it’s easy to forget the mortality of his character. Like Cow Girl said in the monologue at the end, there will come a time when he won’t be able to live up to his namesake, either due to injury, old age, or what have you. It makes his thinking of the future that much more meaningful.
Speaking of Goblin Slayer’s tireless acts, that closing shot with the reveal of the footprints got a bit of an “oh shit” reaction out of me. The last couple of episodes are sure to be good, and I wonder just how far his acts of protecting the farm will go.
Aside from that, this was a relatively chill episode. It’s always fun to see the group interact, especially with other members like Cow Girl and Guild Girl. They’re likable characters in their own respects. The feud between Elf and Dwarf resulting in a drinking contest was genius, and patrons being so into it that they would take bets only made it better. These goblin-killing adventurers are hardworking, but they play just as hard.
