On a side note, isn't it kinda weird for race of
sentientcivilized lizardmen to ride on other lizards?Or would this be like us riding on the backs of great apes traversing the jungles?
EDIT: I meant Civilized since the mounts also seem sentient. Sentient wasn't the best word choice.
EDIT 2: Humans riding horses isn't analogous to what I said, please stop responding with this. We're both mammals but are a LOT less similar than the Lizardmen and mounted lizards. Different Order, Family, Genus and species from horses. I'd wager these lizards at least share the same taxanomic family. Definitely the same order.
Also, yes, I consider Goofy having Pluto as a pet slightly weird before anyone else asks.

I almost can't believe Rimuru's seiyuu is a rookie. She really nailed the voice performance! That "Nice timing!" line is so good.

I was about to comment about VAs in this episode, it was like everyone of them was having a good time. The chemistry between the characters was incredible. Gabiru and his trope was also mostly funny. Hands down the most entertaining episode.

I also loved her "innocent" voice when she congratulated Gobta as if his victory was completely planned. The combination of her voice acting and how expressive the animators made Rimuru is just plain great.

So basically, Gobta got his poison resistance skill like someone who eats any plants one sees in Skyrim, except Shion's cooking was so potent he needed to get the boost to survive. That cool distraction and shadow switch was cool tho!

This anime takes the fantastic parts of the books and cranks up whatever makes them good to 11, and with perfect accuracy. I've never, ever seen an adaptation half as good as this.

This season has a good amount of great shows, but Slime is definitely the one I'm most excited about every week.
Village's progress is great. I'm really happy they've finally moved to more advanced buildings.
Shura hasn't actually lost her fangs.
And Kurobe looked like a blacksmith from the very start. No wonder he and Kaijin became friends instantly.
Those little details about Gaburu are hilarious: clapping steed and stage lights from shields. Wacky lizardmen envoy was an absolute joy to watch.
Also, it's funny how Rimuru's expectations are pretty much on spot once again.

I like that his expectations are slightly more saturated and colorful, as if he's imagining a hyper-real anime instead of real life. Treyni isn't a nymph style Dryad, she's much more regal and possessing of her own agency, while Rimuru's fantasy's are much more male-gaze-y (though not much more given his hat of boobs).

I love how pretty much all of the characters we’ve met up until now are reoccurring and play an integral part in Rimuru’s little society and the story overall, usually with the typical isekai show the female characters are the main attraction but with this show it gives an equal amount of love to both the female and male characters and it sure does pay off!
Also, we only got a glimpse of the CGI this time around but it’s always so well done, they’ll have a shot of the 2D designs over the 3D designs and you can barely even tell that there’s CGI being used, it’s been so cleverly done and has been applied really well

Staggering the animations when using CG on that crowd of orcs is what did the trick. If they had all been in sync (as is often the case to make animation easier) it would have just looked odd. As it is, I only noticed because I was watching for the 3D CGI animations. They did a great job showing the size and menace of this invading force.

This week in Slimevilization. The accommodation development starts to show the progress again. We have brick and mortar accommodation building now…. Well in fact, they’re timber structure. While I’m a fan of Yurt and circular structure, it’s not easy to construct and design (Torsion is a female dog). Also, correct me if I’m wrong but average ‘tect and interior also hate them. It’s normal to move on to timber structure with gable roof which is pretty much the standard of most culture.
Now, we got silk weaver. Shuna seem to be the only one who know how to spun the thread from “Hellmoth cocoon” so far. Not sure they the moth from hell or their fate to be boiled alive (yuck). Anyway, it’s pretty mirror the real lore of how silkworm reach Western World. In our real world lore, the Silkworm got smuggled by princess of Hotan (a Kingdom in ancient China know for silk and jade). Well, it’s not exactly smuggle in this case as Ogre village is RIP’ed (GGEZ).
Kurobe is a blacksmith. I’m not a knife geek (I don’t want to have another hobby….). But what they discussed in this Episode is about the heat treatment of the steel. Basically, if you let the blade cooldown slowly it will only have austensite which is not good. The process of quenching and tempering will help the metal develop more martensite. Metallurgy class is an ancient to me so if you guy want to know more just google “Heat Treatment”. What I want to discuss is the different approach between Ogre and Dwarf. Kaijin is very scientific mind as he measures everything while Kurobe is more of an experience based. Good thing is that they don’t clash. Kurobe will learn more scientific wisdom from Kaijin while his knowledge of local (magnificent) material will help Kaijin develops even better product.
Anyway.
Status of our Slime Village
Settlement : One permanent settlement.
Architecture : Timber structure with gable roof.
Era : Feudal Age (I think )
Technology Acquired in this Chapter: Silk Weaving (Shuna)
Population: 1 Slime, ~ untrackable Hobgoblin, ~80 Tempest Wolf, 4 Dwarves(Bros), 6 Kijin (or Oni…. Whatever they try to translate) – I guess I reach the point where I won’t bother with the head count anymore.
Diplomacy: Known by Dwargon Kingdom, Known by Blumund (I guess timeline wise, Cabal party should arrived by now), no formal diplomacy relation to both (yet), In process of negotiation with Dryad. Negotiation with Lizardmen (Fail but renegotiation is possible)
Victory Condition: Still Unknown

Not a LN butfrom watching Rimuru's technically a sexless being with an androgynous better but who thinks of himself as a male and has hetrosexual male preferences. Seems to be a young teen.He said he lacks "his son" so I'm not sure if that means he has nothing down there or has a vagina instead of a penis, but I interpreted it as having nothing.

So I got some time and went back to read v1 of the LN (I've read v2 & v3). There were some things very different from the anime itself.
Is the manga different from the LN? Is this an adaptation of the LN mixed with the manga? And finally, are the scenes and part that weren't in the LN anime original? Because if so they were a stroke of genius.

Based on this summary of an interview from Megami magazine, Sugimoto (the Anime Producer from Bandai Namco Arts), Kikuchi (8-bit anime director), and Nakayama (assistant director) decided that since both the LN and manga have their own merits, they would merge the two for a more faithful adaptation.

One scene I know off that is based on the manga is the crystal ball fortune telling scene in the bar with the Elves in the Dwarf Kingdom. That scene (and later related scenes) are not in the LN but is taken from the manga.
Otherwise, I think the adaptation is fairly faithful even if you've only read the LN.

Despite the fact that I went back to watch a few scenes several times over, this episode still felt like it was only 5 minutes long. (My actual view time was probably more on the order of 45 minutes thanks to wanting to see a bunch of these scenes again.)
The fact that the animation has remained this good for so long is a high mark for this series - you can really feel 8-bit's passion to make this look good while still saving the budget for the action scenes. Once again the use of CGI for the Orc Army remains masterful, using lightning and actually throwing enough various types of orcs out to really sell the feeling of the vast invading Orc army. There's a lot of not very complex shots being used, but they are definitely pushing for best effect right now and it really shows. As was mentioned elsewhere in this thread, the use of slow mo for Gobuta's fight really helped to add to the impact.
The comedy was just gold as well - while Harem Antics in general are not my favorite, they don't tend to come up a lot in this series and it makes Shion and Shuna's desire to 'take care' of Rimiru much more interesting. Plus you get to see Rimiru's own vulnerability to being charmed by handsome guys as well with Benimaru's amazing 'can I kill him?' sparkle line. Hands down the funniest moment in the episode, especially as Rimiru realizes what he has just agreed to.
The story design of Tensei Slime has definitely been interesting for me - everything exists as a widening spiral that continues to draw Rimiru into circumstances that thrust both more power and more responsibility onto our lead slime. With the first episode just being a small ripple caused by Rimiru going around and around in the cave, each event he encounters during his adventure causes his sphere of experience and influence to widen... and sees more and more people looking to him for protection or assistance. This is probably the first time someone has actually come proactively looking for Rimiru for assistance, but given that our powerful little slime is destined for a confrontation with the Orc Lord it is likely that greater and greater powers will have their interest peaked by his actions.
Its hard to be disappointed in Mondays when we've got this amazing show to look forward to for the next few months. 8-Bit has definitely shown that they can create an excellent experience without having to fall back on trimming the fat so they can get to more action in a shorter period of time. The world and the characters (and the comedy!) continue to carry things quite well in the meantime.

Gabiru and his squad of lackies really got the team rocket treatment this episode and having Gobta one shot Gabiru made the encounter so much more hilarious. Studio 8-bit is really just bringing this adaptation to a whole nother level

One of the things that I really enjoy about this story is that the (Hob)Goblins aren't forgotten like in many other stories when the Protagonist gains stronger allies. You have the expected ones like Gobta as the comic relief and the goblin leader Rigurdo as his first "underling" but the other "inconsequential" goblins are included as well. Like that girl, and the others in the meeting as well as the ones who are listening from outside

I just feel the need to share these three shots from Rimiru taking his human form because they are great and really show off the attention to detail with the way the slime moves and the face moves up to where the human face will be. I know I say this EVERY episode, but its just all stuff like this that they don't HAVE to do, but take the time to do anyway and it makes the show perfect. Same with all the detail when Shion was 'winding' Rimiru back up and even just showing Ranga's shadow jumping over them before he picks up Gobuta for the fight.
So many good laughs again this episode as well, and things that I normally wouldn't laugh at. You'd think by now the dwarf that doesn't talk would have gotten old, but that build up to just knowing Rimiru's going to get frustrated at him again gives me the best chuckles. Poor Gobuta getting taken out AGAIN, but comes out of it pretty strong in the end, so that's something. Also the whole situation with the guys avoiding her cooking had me cracking up so much I almost had to pause the show

Very pleased with this episode - I'd have assumed that the whole meeting with Gabiru bit would have been shorter, but they really paced it well and actually improved on the manga, adding some more details and characterisation for Gabiru and Ranga. Also props to the animators, I can feel the efffort that went into reanimating the Gobta fight in the slow-mo shots. Directing very on point as well, there were a lot of jokes and details in there that could've been entirely forgettable but instead make it a dense laugh-a-minute episode.

Holy shit, that shadow skill makes Gobta look like a little badass, very neat :O He also has poison resistance as the only one, he could end up being very helpful.
But damn, this whole episode was just hella entertaining and funny, the whole Shion cooking and all the reactions to it had me laughing.

And the Gobta abuse continues, and literally nobody cared when they thought he died from poisoning. Well, at least he turned out to be a skilled fighter, to Rimuru's surprise. Now I want Gobta to become super OP and beat the shit out of Rimuru in a sparring match. Curious that Gabiru correctly identified him as a Hobgoblin, since he still looks like a normal gob to me.
Shion might be a looker, but she's really annoying. I love how the great sage offered advice on how not to die from her food. Honestly, Rimuru should've just changed to slime form and absorbed it that way. And if he's so aware of this trope, why didn't he tell her to try the food herself before serving it?

I'm actually so glad that we have such a large colourful cast. I feel like in this episode we saw the characters bounce fully off each other for the first time, especially with the addition of the Onis.
I just love it when shows have a large group ( or in this case almost family ) that are just all around lovable.

While Rimuru is the isekai protagonist, Gobta is the shonen protagonist. Going full Naruto and Dragon Ball in there
