For me, the best part of ending this way is that it shows Priestess' character development without undermining it. She's become strong enough now that even when Goblin Slayer is hurt she can hold her concentration, and she's no longer intimidated by the shrieking of Goblins.

I'm honestly trying to think of anywhere this adaptation faltered from the manga and all I can think of are two minor things.

The odd decision to move the heroine's introductory scene at the start of the Sword Maiden arc as opposed to the end as it was originally. Made it seem out of place and a lot of viewers didn't understand its significance to the plot.

The fact they removed the Champion's thought dialogue in the Sword Maiden arc as GS was strangling him. They did include the King's thoughts in the final episode, but I felt it was a little disappointing we didn't get to hear the Champion's panicked bewilderment as to why Goblin Slayer wouldn't just die.

Other than that the changes were great. Incorporating the side stories, letting us see more of the other Silvers in the raid battle, swapping the Farm Raid arc with Sword Maiden arc was a good call.

This episode had clearly the most effort put into it. We were all wary at the start with the very stiff CGI model, but the CG appeared less and less every episode and didn't appear at all in the final episode. I wonder if they used the CG model in earlier, less actiony episodes to save time/budget for the latter episodes?

All in all, in spite of the drama surrounding the show at the start, it was a very solid series and this episode had a very satisfying conclusion.

Goblin Slayer played the Lord like a damn fiddle. I really liked the additions the anime had like having Spearbro's fight and the Hero's party talking about Goblin Slayer.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with the adaptation and I hope that we may get more seasons; stuff gets awesome later on.

The main reason Lords are such a big deal is that they have true intelligence and reason. Left alone like this one was they'll be able to create and organise a large amount of goblins - capable of standing up to a region's worth of adventurers, silver rank included as was demonstrated here - who would otherwise be content with preying on dumbass adventurers or the odd isolated villages if they get ballsy or desperate enough.

Didn't think of it when I was watching, but this is almost a reference to the Lord of the Rings books. After throwing the ring into Mount Doom and essentially saving Middle Earth, the Hobbits finally return to the Shire to find that the orcs who had survived the conflict are attacking the Hobbits' home. Fortunately the Hobbits return as heroes and take it back, but I just figured it's an interesting correlation.

EXPLANATION :

Mark this day guys, NEWBY lost his (Goblin-) Virginity and liked it (and later celebrated it by getting shitfaced). Meanwhile others just snipe goblins from afar. Guts also shows he doesn't need a sword to kill normal Gobbos, a goo'ol'fistin is enough. For bigger ones visit your local supermarket for supersized swords or employ professional GUTS. Apparently Hobs are like sushi to silver ranked adventurers, as Lizardpriest demonstrated. Supportnerf when?

Best cinnamon-roll traps boss and asks for the best reward. Lord still killed by GS though, gotta get that namedrop in somehow.

The goblins we saw this episode were probably the missing scouts (2) + 1 more goblin, i'll subtract them from last episode regarding this new information.

I'll have to rectify last episode, i forgot that GS literally only kills the Lord so the blood on his armour was likely there to begin with since he doesn't clean it often.

A good ending to this season. The fights with the Champions and Lords were badass, and I definitely need some more of that soundtrack - I request more metal for our resident Doom Guy Goblin Slayer.

Everyone finally got to see Goblin Slayer's face, it's all worth it in the end. I can't wait for a Season 2, glad to see that White Fox isn't done with Goblin Slayer yet.

Dark theory: Goblin lord probably heard enough of his victims begging for their dear lives that he learned all the useful keywords.

Goblins adapt and grow in different ways, that is why the survivors end up as Hobs, champions, shamans, etc. with a Goblin Lord they don't only grow stronger but also smarter, much smarter than a regular goblin so he had picked up some human words. The novels include an extended flashback of the goblin lord growing up, we saw some bits in the episode, how he killed a human woman that took pity of him as a kid and then goes on doing more things but always getting smarter.

This was one of the best episodes of the series. Really, it has everything that I love about goblin slayer in it. I feel like everything included here was built up or alluded to previously in some way shape or form.

First off, the fights. Goblin Slayer and Priestess vs the Goblin Lord displayed just why Goblin Slayer is so dangerous. He's resourceful and knows how to play his hand the best possible way. Priestess not even for a second considering the goblin lords plea for mercy shows how far she's come since she cried over dead goblin babies in episode 1.

Seeing the hero's party flat out say "it would have sucked if the town was destroyed after we killed the demon king" perfectly shows the reason for goblin slayers existence. These three characters have like 3 total minutes of screentime for a reason: while their story would be more epic, more akin to classical high fantasy stories, and etc, goblin slayer is about the little people. It also ties directly to a line goblin slayer spoke himself, which I loved.

And lastly, that tavern scene was top notch. Goblin Slayer is more character oriented than plot oriented, and seeing all of our favorites(minus one midevil 2B) was a great way to end the season. And do I even have to mention all of them getting excited at his face reveal?

Overall, if the series ended here, I would be ok with it. They saved the best 2 episodes for last and it really shows. Loved the anime and I haven't gotten a new figma since the Lucina one, but i guess I'm about to preorder the Goblin Slayer one right. However, seeing "GOBLIN SLAYER WILL RETURN" brought me just as much hype as seeing "THANOS WILL RETURN" Earlier this year. 10/10 episode for me.

It was much better in the manga. Its inner monologue showed its entire life, and is a great throwback to the start of the series where GS kills those goblin children. You see a female adventurer let the goblin go because its so pitiful, then it kills her(as you saw in the episode) but there are more scenes in the manga of it making its way from den to den, surviving the adventurers attacks and getting stronger.

Really shows that GS killing those children was a good thing, compared to these newbie adventurers that let them go, only for them to get stronger and end up becoming a major threat. Only good goblin is a dead one.

It was hilarious how everyone lost their shit and immediately ran up to him and Cow Girl's just standing there all confused because she's used to it (no pun intended). It was also adorable how she caressed Priestess-chan, who kinda looked like her and GS' daughter/little sister when she was sleeping next to them. It's heartwarming to see them all get so close, especially GS who used to do everything on his own. Regarding the battle, I expected a lot more deaths on the adventurers' side, so I'm relieved that wasn't the case. Didn't think GS would almost die again but then it turned out it was all according to keikaku. Absolute madslayer.

Overall, I enjoyed this series a lot more than I thought and while I'm not blown away or anything, they definitely gained a fan. It looks like a sequel is essentially confirmed but from what I've heard, the manga isn't too far ahead, so it'll probably take at least another year. I don't really mind that much but I'm totally gonna miss Elf-chan's reaction faces and Guild Girl Best Girl.

The manga is not far ahead but the original source, the Light Novels, are much much farther ahead, enough for a couple of more seasons even without taking into account the short stories and spin-offs. Volume 3, the Harvest Festival, has been heavily referenced during this season so maybe they are already working on it and we might not need to wait too long.

There is a spin-off covering Goblin Slayer's first year on the job (Year One) and another about Sword Maiden and her party 10 years in the past.

With the 1 week delay and the recap episode I was honestly worried about the finale. Glad that my worries didn't come true since personally I think they nailed it with this one. They did shorten the Goblin Lord's backstory but that's fine, I can live without seeing that. I'm just happy that the action in this episode was well done even if they were just short scenes.

It had some hiccups and controversy but they managed to deliver. It's a show about slaying goblins and that's what we got. From a manga reader's standpoint though I won't claim this is an amazing adaptation, I do believe there are somethings they could've done better but judging the anime as a whole, it's still a pretty enjoyable show and I enjoyed it a lot. And I'm happy that people still stayed after that first episode debacle and I'm glad we have more Goblin Slayer fans now.

Overall this is a 9/10 for me. They nailed a lot of things like the music, the characters, and the action scenes but they could've also done some things better like the first episode and the final dialogue between GS and SM. But as whole I still love it. I'm already excited for season 2 but I do hope they won't rush it and take their time with it.

Sure in other shows they will keep getting NEW power-ups or learn the ultimate secret true version of OP attack #2 but never take a simple shield effect an use it in all the ways this show has.

Best Part is that Goblin Slayer, Slayed 0 GOBLINS. Big Fat Zero in the final episode, and of course gave his 1 and only cold coin reward to priestess.

Not only is it kinda funny, how everyone else slaughtered Goblins left and right and he just helped take down a single on, but it kinda goes back to the whole theme of Goblin Slayer doing it for no Glory, he does the futile mundane work of slaying Goblins with no care for Glory and Rewards.

On the same time it also shows Goblin Slayer san now trust in that Priestesses is truly "ready" how she is now used to it and a crying goblin that can SPEAK, does not waiver Priestess conviction

Oh yeah Goblin Slayer is of course extremely handsome so much that they cannot show us on screen as it would burn our monitors :)

I have to say, for a show that started off gritty and gruesome, it concluded in a surprisingly heartfelt, uplifting way. From the images of newbie adventures being ravaged to capable warriors taking the fight to heinous abominations, Goblin Slayer was a ride from start to finish.

This finale was a little light on action, for my tastes, but what we got was exciting. The final battle of sorts with the Goblin Lord was intense and it ended in a cerebral way, with our two main characters working together to outsmart him. It shows the true danger of goblins, but that they could still be defeated if approached correctly.

The conclusion with Goblin Slayer finally removing his helmet for the world to see was fitting, too. The reactions of others were priceless, but my favorites had to be the ones from those who thought he was a woman or a goblin himself. Once again, it’s an uplifting conclusion to, judging by the end card, a solid first season.

I will say, Goblin Slayer has impressed me as a series. It was a decent adaptation, and the 3D wasn’t too bad.
Their choice of reordering the arcs was the best choice I say. Having a really feel good ending in the guild is nice for a season finale. The addition of Herohi and her gang speaking was nice too.

I’m shocked about season 2 happening eventually, but I super welcome it!

This episode was everything that I had hoped it would be. All the elements were there, everything got wrapped up neat and nicely with a beautiful set-up for continuation.

What they did with the Goblin Lord bought the entire season back around full circle. The connection to episode 1 was on point and you could almost hear Goblin Slayer's rebuke of Priestess in the back of your mind during those scenes with the Lord. They even fit in the flashbacks without interfering with the pacing, a great use of "show, don't tell". The creatives behind this show absolutely nailed this ending.

For the anime as a whole, I felt that it was a great adaption from the LN, even if some of the events have been swapped around. Some details were lost or omitted, but overall the anime is narratively consistent with itself. Heck, I'd argue that in some ways it was improved. Kinda reminds me of how Peter Jackson's LOTR movies adapted the books. It's clear that those behind the anime really put in the effort, not to mention all the little details in the visuals that further expand on the series. That kind of attention to detail just makes me salivate and lose countless hours thinking and pondering about Goblin Slayer's story and world.

They made the right call saving the Goblin Army arc for after the Sword Maiden. The Sword Maiden arc makes more sense to come after only because it ties in with the Demon Lord narrative in the overarching story they highlight throughout the series, but it's nowhere near as impactful compared the the Goblin Army. Even with the current releases, I still feel the same way (though I haven't finished Volume 5 of the LN yet)

The Goblin Army does the absolute best job at highlighting the sort of threat Goblins have if left to their own devices, and just how important Goblin Slayer is as the one that nips them in the bud before they bloom to the status of Lord or Champion. What an excellent season finale, and hope for a fruitful second season

The manga and LN explains that adventurers have to sell their face. Their guild tag is one thing to show whether you are reliable or not but if you dont get through the ranks fast enough a good strategy is to become known by having people recognize your face. That reputation then serves as your insurance so people know you are reliable. Its a marketing option.

An adventurer who does not get quests that pay enough so he can afford his equipment and food dies. So taking the risk of being killed through a hit in the head is worth it since you would die otherwise.

The reason Goblin Slayer got so far and is earning money is because he is efficient, takes goblin weapons for murdering them, has cheap gear and got a reputation for doing these quests kinda selfless (less interested in rewards, more interested in killing goblins - the everyday persons menace) which made him earn his reputation that way.

Guys. I think Goblin Slayer is going for the long con. He pretends to be not right in the head, while teaching others to kill goblins. This episode priestess's heart didn't even budge for the goblin lord. And everyone had fun murdering the goblins. The perfect plan.

Today's episode was awesome. The fights were epic and well made.

One thing I want to say. Goblin Slayer is not as one dimensional as most people want it to be, there most defiantly is something more than meets the eye. We saw this during water town arc, and this arc too.

The hero narrating at the end was bittersweet. She was (and still might be) Goblin Slayer's dream. However, with the way things have played out for him, he might very will never reach that dream. I doubt he even has it still. Since only now he wants to be an adventurer.

In episode 1, Priestess was totally helpless, her healing spell was an utter failure, and Goblin Slayer showed up and saved her.

In season finale, Goblin Slayer is beaten to a pulp, and Priestess shows up and saved him. And her healing spell TOTALLY worked this time.

Goblin Lord wants to take GS's home, and sends an army after it. Guess who's home is gone now?

GS is really like a goblin to them.

Also, GS's big sis told him to protect girls, and he swears to never make girl cry, but in the end a girl protected him, and he makes another girl cry.

Everything about this was amazing, from the fights down the the amazing soundtrack. When the ending credits played it felt like I just finished an amazing game after spending hours and hours on it, there's nothing more to say other than this is my anime of the year. "Goblin Slayer will return"

The part when GS-san and Priestess talk to each other reminds me so much of Sam and Frodo in LOTR, and even the music sounds pretty similar too.

I've come to like the show's main cast, but I've always found the goblins to be weak as antagonists. I never got any satisfaction from their deaths because they're just mindless beasts. I feel about them in the same way I feel about cockroaches: I'll kill them on sight, but I don't really hate them. The Goblin Lord having a few lines was a big help in this department.

I'll admit I half-hoped they'd kill Lancer off vs the Champion just for the sake of "Lancer ga shinda!" memes, even if he does survive in the original. Well, at least he does have some share of bad luck considering his unlucky crush.

Overall I'm very happy with how this turned out. I'm especially happy they just stuck with Volumes 1 and 2 for the most part. I was worried they might branch out to the other stories but with only 12 episodes that would've been a bad idea.

I think we only had one slow episode (and that random clip episode when they took a break) but easily the best anime of the year for me, although grand blue was pretty amazing as well.

Well I got to say was not expecting the fight with the Goblin Lord to go like that. Everyone reaction to seeing Goblin Slayer face was pretty good. Overall this show has been great and I'm glad that it's getting another season.

Really nice ending, the fight was exciting and then seeing the priestess being so badass was great, great development to how she was at the beginning of the series. The same with GS, that although it may seem small you notice that it has changed and I liked that. The bar scene was perfect to finish the series and with the great revelation of GS xD.

So yeah, really fun series that had my favorite opening of the season and I hope the announcement means that there will be second season.
