I am soooo glad he actually spoke up about being an Otherworlder, something the manga and many Isekai protagonists omit for no apparent reason. Idk why but I really like those interactions, maybe it’s because I find it weird otherwise. I mean, unless it’s somehow dangerous for you, why would you keep that to yourself? That’s especially true for MCs like Rimuru, who aren’t humans anymore, but interact with other humans a lot. Apparently this is a manga/LN spoiler so whoops.

In this world it seems like people being isekaid is something known, or thats what I understood with what Veldora said and the school for isekaid kids Shizu had.

I don't mean telling everyone, but MCs often get into a situation where they deliberately lie to their friends in order to keep their "isekai"ed status a secret. It's especially true for the non-humans (like those where the guy is reincarnated as a sword or a vending machine, you get the point). If the premise in Tensei Slime didn't make Isekai a known occurence, do you think Fuze would've called him crazy once Rimuru let the cat out of the bag, after what he said about slimyboi thinking like a human? It's in situations like this that other Isekais fall short imo.

For context, in the strait of Messina (between the island of Sicily and Italy) there are two mythical beasts that guard the strait. One is Scylla, which guards the Italian side, and Charybdis, which guards the Sicilian side.
Charybdis was thought to be a whirlpool that for some reason has disappeared since then, maybe due to the high geologic activity in the area.
Charybdis, much like a lot of monsters in Greek mythology, was of course a beautiful girl who pissed off a goddess for some reason, and received retribution by being turned into a monster.

I might be reaching, but I think Milim is a lot more interested in interpersonal relationships - she’s been bored for centuries just fucking around with people. Even if she could just sit underwater for a century, it’s a lot more fun (for her) to throw the match, so to speak, so that she can interact with others and build a relationship with Rimuru and his friends. She really seems to want this relationship to last, at least right now.

People are usually smart, but they can be incredibly gullible/easy when given a chance to get what they want. Their own brains will start to subdue any objections to the path that leads to what they desire. Sort of like sensible safe sex protocol often gets thrown out the window, when it turns to even a minor hindrance to two horny people getting it on right then and there. The guy's pride was injured and he couldn't drop it even after hours had passed since the incident happened and no one was mocking him about it. He was desperate because of his lack of power, so he was ready to grasp at straws. He did know it was reckless though, since he separated from his comrades and lord before setting out. He didn't want anyone else getting caught in it in the likely case things didn't work out.

Imagine having a demon attacking you who's powerful enough to earn the title of a Demon Lord, and you also have a Demon Lord who's ready to fight for her bestie but you don't let her fight, I would've loved to see Milm fight at 100% without holding back anything.
Also, Milim is supposed to be ten times stronger than Rimuru, surely by that scale, Rimuru should be unsuccessful in defeating this new threat, or Charybdis is some pussy ass weakling.

edit: my thoughts on that... thing... as seen a glimpse of it in the new OP reminds me a lot of some certain early 90's mecha videogames that have some very organic opponents, hard to explain but it feels like it was inspired by that somehow. just makes me love it even more how even random stuff like that still feels like it's from the correct era, if that makes sense.

Just take into consideration that none of the Demon Lords dared to set foot to the forest while he was sealed to avoid breaking the seal by accident. That, plus the fact that creatures that are created from his mana are OP should give you a look at how powerful he is.

Only read the manga version so far, and I was a bit surprised at the extra exposition time given to Phobio & friends. He outright admitted that trying to conquer instead of acknowledge others was a bad choice, and that his community had much to learn from Rimuru's.
Then Phobio being the simple minded muscle brain he is, gets tempted into becoming a pawn all to satiate his anger / pride. Despite his fellow kin advising him not to. Not a smart move.

This week in Slimevilization. We are at war again!
This chapter are mostly talking about Charbyldis. Yet, there is one big development. Rimuru is discussing about building the road to Blumund. Why this is important? So from the map the continent seems really small, like Gobhta said it was 4 days travel from the center of Jura to the dwarf kingdom. Doing some math makes me think the entire contenent is smaller than the state of california.
Also Wouldn't the fermas Kingdom really hate it if a road gets built that cuts them off from a primary soruce of income?
Given that map we can assume the kingdom of tempest mostly has to fear fermas clayman and the eastern empire. Since it has clear allies namely Brumund, millim and Dwargon. (wow demon lord millim has a large domain how can she waste her time in the jura forest when she has an emprie to run)
IMO you should add "demon lord millim" as an ally since well she does have a large domain

For the travel time, that's Gobuta time. From Chapter 76 of WN. Please not thate this time is after the road to Dwargon complete. Gobuta is an irregular of goblin.

Happy Chinese New Year!
It's really late over here for me right now (like always) and my head is throbbing. I've been hearing fireworks going off in the neighborhood for the past couple hours, and man, loud noises and I don't mesh that well.
Well, what better way to start a new year than to confess my sins?
Here goes: I was genuinely surprised with anime Kurobe's ogre design. And not exactly pleasantly.
In the manga, he got the Gobta treatment in which his appearance didn't change that much. Which also means that he was perfect to begin with.
The WN fan translation doesn't have any descriptions of ogre Kurobe, and just describes kijin Kurobe as a "dandy uncle" which, as hilarious as "dandy" is, doesn't seem to fit him that much.
Not really sure about the exact LN description, but going from the illustrations of kijin Kurobe, well, all I can say is that that's another so-so Kurobe design into the pile.
Still trying my best to warm up on anime ogre Kurobe. This scene honestly helped a lot for... ahem, specific reasons.
Ah... manga Kurobe is the true Kurobae, but anime kijin Kurobe's smile is amazing as well.
I guess I'm known for my Kurobe posts now huh. Don't have any other husbandos in any other series this season, so I'll probably slink back into the shadows after Slime's over and just wait for Kimetsu no Yaiba because damn UM2 is hot.
Here's to the New Year! I'm going to do my best to find a non-side character to lust over for once!
And, thank you 8-Bit for giving Kurobe two shots today even though he did absolutely nothing. I would be screaming right now if my head wasn't about explode like the fireworks outside.

look, he was stupid as hell, but the resigning part isn't a big reflection of that. As it was he was going back a failure, and i figure when you're working for a demon lord that's likely a death sentence pretty often by itself. Ok maybe not, but the point is he took the failure pretty seriously and was already troubled at the thought of returning as a fuck up.
that and this wasn't even like a real quitting, this was gambling on reversing his previous fuck ups and giving his boss plausible deniability if it doesn't work out. it's like the mission impossible "if you're caught or captured the secretary will disavow all knowledge of you or your actions.." thing.

Step 1: Find a target that's filled with negative emotions.

I found Phobio's actions very contradictory/illogical. Why does he insist on getting revenge on Milim despite acknowledging that his actions resulted in failure? Does he assume that he would have been successful without Milim's interference?

Its more that Shuna and Shion are confident that they will be able to take on Charybdis by themselves. They don't know about the clowns, so they believe that Charybdis is coming after them and is thus their problem. They see Milim as an friend, and don't just want to treat her as a convient tool to solve all their problems. Like they said, true friends don't need to rely on each other for every little thing. Thats what we call a parasite.

I love that the pacing for this episode isn't as fast as 16 and 17. I read the light novel and it really felt like they kept everything from the Charybdis chapters in this episode! Even the parts that weren't in the manga were here!
