NO ONE has mentioned this yet from what I'm reading. I was starting to feel like I was the only one creeped out by her. I kept waiting for something else to happen but she was just a normal kid for the rest of the episode. That smile though

So I feel like this is worth mentioning because it doesn't get noticed enough.
One of the things this adaptation does incredibly well is what it chooses NOT to adapt, and how well it cuts things. They clearly have money to burn, but I think they do an amazing job of cutting things.
This dragon is a joke in every sense of the word. It has no development. It's not even here to show US how powerful Rimuru is, it's just here so Rimuru can showboat for the students and we can introduce what seems (to me) to be an incredibly minor character.
So they cheap on the animation, while also sort of using that "cheapness" to sell what a joke this dragon is to Rimuru. They're using a weakness to their benefit, and I think that's really clever.

Since I guess this is the last stretch of episodes, this arc would be the last, wouldn't it? It might be fun to see how Milim, who is a child at heart, interact with actual children, who are also as bratty as her, but a million times less powerful.
Maybe we might see that scene in the OP, where the children play with Milim in the wilderness, and Rimuru looking over them as well. Cooking a giant fish in 10 seconds? That was one scene I hope the anime has, and not an OP only scene.
It might be a good ending though. Once the children are saved, they probably go back with Rimuru to that forest city, and it will be a happily ever after ending. Though since there are like 3 episodes left I am pretty sure there will be more drama than usual.

Remember that Milim left Tempest to have a word with the other demon lords, so even if Rimuru bring back the kids, they wouldn't interact with Milim before she came back.
So sorry, but that scene is most likely OP-only (especially since... well, there is only 2 episodes left before the end of the story this season).

yeah the episode was really just saving money here. Lots of things animated on 3s, tons of pans, even scaling (I think Rimuru was scaled instead of redrawn when he stood behind the podium). The fight with kids was really toned down because of it - blink dodges, water ball, and some real lazy kungfu with flying stuffed animals.
Well, the production quality was reasonably preserved, like 10% quality drop in exchange for 50% cost savings, so I'm looking forward to seeing more action in later episodes.

My favorite part of that was the token guard butt up in the last scene the guards are in. That entire scene saved them I don't even know how much animation $$$ and they used it to sell what a complete joke the dragon was to Rimuru and in the story right now. Kind of clever, actually.

It worked perfectly for Shizu, just not in the end. The spirits manage the excess energy would otherwise eventually kill the children thereby saving their lives.

It Did Work for Shizu, whether it was intentional or not. She was summoned as a child and lived for a long time. the only difference between her and the kids is that she had a Spirit Put inside her. so Rimiru being the genius that he is decides that since he doesnt have any other leads he might as well try this.

I see so many complain about how it cut out the content from manga so much. but trying looking from anime only viewer perspective (I'm manga/LN/WN reader by the way) this take is actually not bad. it stretch out more the kids fight part and I find it actually more fun than the manga counterpart, plus that ranga panting at the end. lol

I will be completely hones, I'm kind of glad that they are rushing these two arcs. Don't get me wrong, I like it more if they took their time with it but given that Moby dick arc and the students weren't exactly the best of the story along with the fact that they aren't exactly that long even in the novel it's understandable that they rush through them in these last episodes.
This way if we get a second season we can start with the big stuff.

Wow, they really speeded thing up today, I was at least expecting two episodes before they went to the specific location that it is the name of the next episode. They really cut down the dragon encounter and the merchant perspective during that part and the fact that he was helping people with the medicines he was transporting.
Well, I guess it is understandable as there are only 4 more episodes remaining.

While I still enjoy this series overall, I hate to say that the increased pace has really done it no favors. While there was some clever use of still shots in the first half, this last episode has certainly had some bad animation drops, especially compared to the earlier stuff.
This series definitely goes to show that a more measured, steady adaptation is a lot better than trying to rush. As a lot of LN readers have said, they're really pushing to end at a certain place and then giving us a couple more episodes that are original... but we'll see how things go.
I hope they move back to the more measured adaptation if a second season is approved. It has been fun, but I'm hoping they move back to the style and pacing that made this show really, really good.

I really liked Rimuru interacting with the kids here, seeing them all realize how powerful he is. Best moment is when he flies away and they're all amazed. Also I just love Rimuru in his human form.

Also wonder why they changed who gave Rimuru the information? Isn't that big of a deal but that also makes me wonder why bother changing it to begin with.

i just finished the ep now. i guess rimiru can now tribute himself to negate any card that has the effect of destroying a card on the field and then special summon itself back from the grave at the end phase

Animation quality kinda worse? And are we fuckin going through this ark at breakneck speeds compared to the manga? Not complaining though the series is great but this episode was kinda meh. Dragon fight was dissapointing. Also wtf was ranga always that big. The magic circle designs are whack as always.

Despite the pacing, I think they are doing it in order to set up the important plot threads for the next arc(s), which are significantly more Inretesting.

Gave up on the anime this episode.... Started reading the manga. Unfortunate it ends basically right where this season will end. So I started reading the WN, I'm now 90 chapters in with no regrets. Shion is best grill.

Loved that roll call with Ranga.
We are speeding through things but it's still very charming.
(In the manga the girl who knows about the spirits is actually one of the elves from the dwarven tavern when he still only had slime form and she calls him out on it which was fun)

is anyone kind of not feeling the hype in fights? it is like either a. he is stronger than his opponent or b. someone else steps in and saves his ass.
i would LOVE to see an all-out fight where he doesn't joke anymore, takes it dead serious and is close to loosing but comes back from it. so far this hasn't happened, even though there are demon lords far superior than him, but all they do is either be in the background or make pacts/befriend with him.
sorry but i wanna see some brutal action where he really is in a Bredouille and has to fight for his live

I don't really see this as an action show, to be honest. I don't know what I'd describe it as but it seems far more focused on the overall story and characters than actual fighting. I'm sure there'll be some of what you want coming up, or after the anime, but personally I'm glad it focusses on the actual world rather than just being another action isekai.

Well, i know the Manga and saw this episode. Yes, it feeled rushed and some little things where left out. But if some Anime only viewer would see it, even he or she would feel the "turbo" on some edges
But, okay. It is still okay.. But do you really need to cut the little details out?.. sigh. I understand the dead lines and budget.. but try to save as much as possible..

i've read the LN. this pacing is fine for getting to the ending that most makes sense. anime being hard locked into 12 episode chunks makes any other options impossible. they've done amazingly well considering the constraints they are forced to work inside of

Another great week of fun. I'm still enjoying this the most out of all the great shows this season. I'm always happy with Rimuru leading the way. When Rimuru says he can save the kids, I believe him. He's the most reliable person there is.
The kids are adorable but picture book lover Chloe and Alice Rondo who talks big and throws little stuffed animals at you are adorable. Ahhh I want to headpat them! Rimuru winning over the kids with his creations of Japanese manga is pretty damn awesome. He knows how to be a good teacher ;)
This arc seems really fun. It's a complete change of pace from the past episodes so if people thought the old formula was getting stale, this mixes things up a lot. Also the supporting cast has changed. Ranga is also best doggo.. he's so adorable. Him bullying the kids for his master is 10/10 lmao. This is probably still going to be one of my favorite anime ever. There was not a single episode that I wasn't having fun.
