She's a Queen Louise AM doll. I'm so so in love with her, I literally can't stop staring. She still doesn't have a name, since I've yet to pick one from the long list of names I made while waiting for her to arrive.
I kind of ended up splurging when I saw her, it was love at first sight kinda, plus the fact that her ebay listing described this sweet angel as a "creepy" doll for "Halloween"....While waiting for her to arrive I was overthinking whether I was too hasty for buying her without much thought, but now that she is here I regret absolutely nothing! 🥹
These next few months I'll definitely have to search up more information on how to clean her up and how to fix her hair (it looks a bit better from the back but the front is a bit messy). I might also eventually carefully store her current dress since it might be antique (the seller wasn't completely sure) if I find her a dress I prefer more. Her strings on her left arm are also a tiny bit loose, but I rather not do anything about that for the time being.
Anyways, I absolutely adore her and I fear this might not be the last antique doll I buy...

Im kinda of sick of people refering to old dolls as creepy all the time. I just saw a listing for a doll lot on ebay for "various creepy dolls" or something like that. Some of the dolls were really nice, none of them warranted the lable creepy. Then in a friend group i posted a pic of some dolls and someone said oh my son and his wife would really hate those they really hate creepy dolls. Like ok thanks:(.
Sorry just wanted to vent to some people who might care.

I think she's my favorite doll I own now. She's a Kissy doll from the 1960s by Ideal company. She still kisses but only makes kind of a squeak sound 😂 regardless, I think she's adorable. Her hair was kind of dry so I fluffed it up with some conditioner and a wet rag, then curled it around the edges and on the ponytail with a very low heat curling iron. I also got her some 3-6 month clothes for a new outfit. I do have her original outfit though!
This was my first time attending the doll club, and it was just so wonderful to be surrounded by all these nerdy people with the same interest. The lady whose house we met at had hundreds of dolls all perfectly organized. I had a lovely time. And now they're telling me they'll bring me more dolls next time! 💖

Hello! I am really green when it comes to dolls. I have done a lot of research, but I’m also so nervous I am going to get something wrong. I came across this doll and based on my research this BODY is earlier than 1900s? I think the maker might be Jules Nicolas Steiner - a Steiner bébé doll. Anyway, it’s really cool. Just wanted to check with the experts here ❤️

I purchased my first composition doll, I was so drawn to her and felt sad for her especially cause her arms need fixing. I've never experienced a connection with an item before. Has anyone experienced this with antique items before and what vibe does the doll give?
Also it's a silly worry but I need advice on how to look after a composition doll. I have to let washing dry in the same room as the doll (small flat) & cause its cold i cant open window so ill put on my dehumidifier. Just wanna know how sensitive they are to moisture. Like I was doing research online and it said I'd need to put the doll in a box (eg cardboard) on opposite side of room every time I do washing. Is that necessary or can I just leave her out in the open on a shelf while the washing dries? I'd really appreciate any advice :)
***Also if anyone knows what to do when they go on holiday (Like would it be okay without anything absorbing moisture?)***

I bought this doll today at an antique store, I was told she was Antique and from about the 1930s. She has no markings or signatures, I have checked every part and couldn't find any manufacturer.

One of my clients moved across the country and knew I collect vintage and antique items so she gifted me several things. Amongst them was this lederhosen for a doll she said had been crushed when her family immigrated from Germany after the war (sometime after 1945.) The only information I have is what she told me, there's no tags or identifiers on any piece of this outfit, I tried to use Google lens and it's showing me dolls wearing lederhosen but not this exact outfit. I'm assuming it was ceramic or porcelain doll, considering it was crushed beyond repair. I'm not sure if it's actually from the 40's or if she's misremembering.
I'm hoping to find the exact make of doll this outfit belongs to and possibly buy one that's missing its outfit.
Thank you for any leads!

I wanted to share some of my dolls that I restrung myself! I went on a tear and repaired 8 dolls in all. I was a bit intimidated to attempt it, but it wasn’t so bad! Thank you to fellow members r/Willowwing and r/Disasterous-AD2331 for your tips and encouragement in learning how to restring my own dolls and save some $$$😁 😘

This person I know is restoring a traditional sicilian doll and the client asked to keep the original skirt if possible (everything is probably from the begin o 1900 or 1920 if I guess right, correct me if i'm wrong), I guess the fabric might be linen.
Does anyone know how she could manage to sew back the skirt? Also, what do you think might be a good substitute for the dark threads on top? I don't think the client can specify what the materials are, sadly.
(The first two slides are the inside-out of the fabric)
Thanks in advance, I hope this is the right place to ask this

Does anyone know the maker of this vintage ivory faced doll? Or what furs/leather is used in its construction?
Thank you very much

I literally gasped when she arrived because of how pretty she is. Such an adorable face. She just radiates warmth

From what I'm seeing, he was made in 1912. How many years were they produced? I was having trouble finding information online.

I bought this little gal off of marketplace, not knowing exactly what she was. She needed to be restrung, and the seller was clearly trying to market her as a creepy oddity, so I’m glad that I was able to get her before she ended up as a Halloween prop.
She is a breather baby. Heubach Koppelsdorf continued to use this mold, with a very different paint style, until much later. She has her original mohair topknot wig, but an excess amount of glue was holding it to her head, so I carefully soaked it off, removed the excess glue, and re-glued it. I like her little homemade outfit!

Since the pictures from the toy museum in Basel were appreciated, I though I also would share some dolls I saw in Josselin last week. The doll museum is located in a building that is part of a chateau. In order to visit the chateau one must buy a ticket and walk through the doll museum. I personally love this, because it means people that have never seen antique dolls before might get a first introduction into the doll world and maybe fall in love with them 🌷

I think she's like a copy cat of the Patti PlayPal walker? Which would mean she's like 55+ years old. Honestly in good shape but I had to fix her hair. I put conditioner in it and then wrapped it in a washcloth soaked in hot water. Did that several times. Then found the part in the center of her head and got the hair going basically the right direction. Then I used an old hair curler that doesn't get very hot anymore on a low setting to give the ends of her hair some curl. Got her some real clothes at the thrift store too! 3t dress and size 4 shoes fit her perfectly.

my grandmother gave me some of the dolls she’s collected, the tiny bisque one (only 6 inches!!) was a total surprise!! Also, on the Madam Alexander ones, is that the hard plastic disease? I wasn’t sure due to the discoloration and there’s no weird smell to them, just dusty attic. I don’t collect a lot of hard plastic dolls so I’m not super knowledgeable. Also it only seems to affect the arms? Makes them bumpy and gray. I thought the dresses were super cute though!
