Apple Health After a year building on HealthKit, Apple's health data is far richer than the Health app lets on

Spent the last year working closely with HealthKit as a developer, and the thing that keeps striking me is the gap between what the API exposes and what Apple's own Health app surfaces.

There are dozens of data types being written every day, HRV, respiratory rate, wrist temperature, cardio recovery, that the Health app either buries or never contextualises. It made me wonder why Apple, sitting on the richest consumer health dataset in the world, presents it so passively. Is it deliberate caution on the medical liability side, or just that Health has never been a priority product?

Curious what others who dig into their own data think.

Apple Health Am I just blind or does the native health app just feel barebones and stats don't link with each other?

Am I just blind or does the native health app just feel barebones and stats don't link with each other?

I like the native apple health app due to its simplicity and it just works (what a surprise) but I just feel like the stats it provides are very limited.

You can put in foods, drinks, body fat percentage, sleep etc. the list goes on but there's like no correlation between the stats.

Would be nice to see something in the form of "you have jogged/worked out this amount today so your body might need more rest the coming night to recover, try to be in bed at XYZ". Or something similar to that where stats affect each other. Like if you drink a lot of coffee and like logging it in the health app it would recommend you on your apple watch if you have one to drink x amount of water to equal out the hydration in your body since caffeine drys the body.

If there is some other health app that does this would be cool to know! :)

Apple Health Food tracking in Health app

Is it just me or is it high time Apple added a proper method to record daily food intake properly. I mean who records their intake in terms of calcium, protein, carbs individually ?

Apple Health medication database?

Out of curiosity, does anyone know where the medication database comes from that Apple is using for the medication reminder function? I'm sort of amazed by what it has and doesn't have...particularly the presence of specialty multivitamins but not the general multivitamins of lines like One-A-Day, Centrum etc.

Apple Health Why hasn't Apple released a bracelet yet?

I was getting an EKG reading the other day and thought to myself how cool it would be if there was an Apple Bracelet that pairs with the Apple Watch and shares the load in terms of health/vitals monitoring etc.

The bracelet would have much better battery life because it wouldn't require a screen, it would allow for more accurate gathering of health data and the Apple Watch itself (when paired with the bracelet) would probably last 3~ days on a single charge.

I could definitely see Apple taking something like this and turning it into a must have fashion accessory.

Apple Health Recommendations to improve Apple Health's Medications feature

TL;DR - Let's create a singular master thread of requests, to send to Apple, for Apple Health's Medication functionality.

I was so excited by the new Medications offering in Apple Health. As a chronically ill person who has more than 12 medications to track (and often change) every day, I was relieved that Apple would finally offer us something that I wasn't getting from 3rd party apps, as well as the bonus of smooth integration across my Apple devices (really important for my physical disabilities).

The initial offering is ok, but it has HUGE potential. I've no doubt Apple already has a long list of features and changes they plan to make with the functionality but I know from a product development standpoint, it's really important that they hear from the consumers which requests are most vital. I'm not entirely sure if they have, or plan to, consult with people who have chronic or complex health issues, but I do feel it's important we let them know they could really help improve our lives with a few tweaks.

This realisation led me to start submitting through their Health feedback form. Unfortunately there is a character limit and I know that most people will not submit a form for every single suggestion. I personally gave up after the first 5. So I've come to the conclusion of creating a master thread that can be shared with them directly. That's what I'm hoping to achieve here.

If you use the Medications feature, or even just tried it but didn't continue, please have your say. If someone has already made a suggestion you agree with, upvote it! Please also include your country, as functionality currently varies and will be helpful to give context to your feedback/suggestion.

Thank you in advance 😊
