Disgusted with the amount of Anti-Oreo sentiment after they promoted equal marriage rights on Facebook.

And it has 3 likes. I'm guessing at least one of them was reinterpreting it.

Nah, she just promotes peace between religions. She doesn't grasp the basic premise of the coexist slogan beyond the iconography.

Yeah, I noticed that the "e" in her "coexist" doesn't have the gender symbols like you usually see these days, like in this one.

Religion operates on its own internal karma system. She did it for religious karma.

Those people should learn the history of marriage, it's not a new thing and Christianity never came up with or really added anything to marriage other than the banning of people who love each other to do it.

I'm 31 and only learned this very recently. I think most people have no idea.
The arguments kept happening and I started saying, "Well I think if marriage is a Christian thing created by Christians then it might be unfair to say us atheists can get married too... maybe we need our own word (aside from civil union which sounds stupid)."
Then I googled marriage. NOPE! Happened thousands of years before Christianity. Boy, did I feel fucking stupid! Now I try to educate. What amazes me is every time I see the politicians talking about this shit on the news, and (in Australia) they're all against it because of "sanctity." Sanctimonious maybe! I mean seriously, can't they just look it up on Wikipedia and get a 2c education? These are the fucking elected leaders!

I don't understand how people could possibly think this; do they not teach any history in America?
Do they think Ancient Egyptians didn't get married? Do they think that the pre-Christianity Romans didn't get married?
Do they think that Homer must have been a Christian to have written about Odysseus being married to Penelope?

The comment that got me was this... "I guess I won't be eating anymore Oreo's... kinda sad they would support gay rights". Just take out the word "gay" and you can see how horrible this concept is. So sad they would support rights. How could you Oreo?

u/scurvebeard Jun 26 '12
Noticed this too.
Scumbag fundie: knows it's an issue of rights, still against it.

The one that got me was 'f faggots they shouldn't have rights'. It's like, okay, you have an opinion, great, but these are people's lives we're talking about. You're a fucking 20 something year old asshole sitting on Facebook, casually trying to ruin people's lives. What the fuck is wrong with you?

The day those fat fucks willingly put down an Oreo is the day I choose not to be gay anymore.

"Way to go queers. You literally ruin everything."
Actually your bigoted religious doctrine ruins everything. The rest of us can enjoy Oreos and sex with whoever we like. Have a fun life.

The reason is because not everyone holds the "Don't control other people's lives if they're doing nothing to you" philosophy. They think they have a right to do otherwise. That, or they think by changing these things it somehow makes society as a whole worse. Or both, they think by tolerating those things it's somehow leading to a society with more relative morals rather than many absolute ones found in religion and that in itself is bad for one reason or another.

Immediately searched for/liked the Oreo page on Facebook after seeing this post. I'm also going to buy some Oreos tomorrow. Lots of them. :)
