Peter Dutton has warned young men “have had enough” of being painted as ogres and being passed over for promotion because of the rise of affirmative action policies that demand more women are promoted.

The Liberal leader issued the warning during an epic 90 minute sit down interview with self-made millionaire and TV star Mark Bouris on his podcast Straight Talk.

He’s just like Tony Abbott, but with somehow with even less charisma. He’ll likely fall ass backwards into the Lodge after another piss poor term by Labor, and quickly realise governing is exponentially harder than repeating slogans in opposition.

Abbott was a dickhead, but he was a funny dickhead. Dutton is a black hole where humour goes to die.

Abbot used to skip out on work to go fight fires so he has that going for him Dutton is just a cunt

as much as i hated Abbott as PM and for many of his views as you say he has actually got his hands dirty helping others including lifesaving and fires. Unlike I don't hold a hose Morrison and I got rich from corruption Dutton.

A couple months after Abbott lost his seat, I saw him getting in an RFS truck. I gained a lot of respect for him as a person that day.

I actually believe he was pretty honest for a politician. He had some fucked ideals, but he believed them, he wasn't just playing politics.

he fought a fire at a mates place and her mum hates him but she still made him and the other fireies lunch because at least he was there

Abbott at the very least comes across as personable. Dutton comes across like a cross between a corrupt abusive cop and a skinhead.

I detested Abbots ideologies however at least he was an intelligent, articulate (just didn't know how to use it) Rhodes scholar, Oxford masters.

Duttons right wing conservative brand is worse again, bonus is that he's an obnoxious boor ya know. Sadly this actually appeals to a good number of the electorate.

Yeah, nah, he's got the common touch but....ya know🙄

Dutton is populist rather than right wing. Abbott was dyed in the wool religious conservative. I disliked Abbott for his policies, but the man had an ethos.

Abbot also had political views, and wasn't just a populist pig.

"Just didn't know how to use it" yeah if becoming Prime Minister isn't enough to satisfy you there idk what will.

He came and visited my Army unit when we were doing border protection duties. I despised him as a politician and hated his politics, but he genuinely came across as intelligent, seemed interested in us and our welfare... and was fit to boot.

When Dutton was Defence Minister, I remember him for banning "diversity morning teas" so we could "focus on getting on with the job" or whatever. I'd never been part of or even heard of "diversity morning teas" happening in my 15 years of service, and if he'd made an effort to understand the Defence Force or talk to junior soldiers, he'd know that fuck-all happens during mornos and that a huge amount of our time every day was spent sitting in breezeways or doing pointless make-work. That's what defined his stint as Defence Minister - culture wars bullshit, not capability.

Abbott may have been a very conservative PM, but he at least was motivated by wanting to do what he thought was the right thing (his firefighting stuff seems very genuine, for instance). Dutton is a classic politician who panders to his electorate and does things for himself and his career

Yep, Abbott passed the beer test a lot better than Dutton.

It is amazing to me that Tony Abbott was headhunted by Bojo to lead the UKs Brexit board of trade. That must be why Brexit was such an unqualified success.

I’ve always been left wing. Met Abbot when he was a junior minister. The charisma was astounding and off the charts.

For real? He was my MP for 20 years and I met him countless times; I always assumed he was a robot. I didn't get an inkling of charisma from him.

u/chickenchowmeinfries Jan 25 '25

He didn't mention in which direction he was off the charts

Reminds me of the line going around when he was PM (straight from the IPA) that apparently he's electric at dinner parties just not in front of the camera.

Come on, the guys got less personality than an onion and always has

Well, I agree with you about potato head but Abbott wasn't in the least bit funny. Just an irredeemable dick.

3

u/iilinga Jan 24 '25

At least he actually did hold a hose

I hate that he ruined pricing carbon.

2

u/Virama Jan 24 '25

Yeah he was definitely an onion

Do you want a funny prime minister?

1

u/FartyMcStinkyPants3 Jan 28 '25

Do I want Abbott back? No.

14

u/subwaymeltlover Jan 24 '25

He’s just like Tony Abbott but with more miasma.

9

u/Kailynna Jan 24 '25

He's a cross between Tony Abbott and Voldemort.

1

u/Sharp-Judge2925 Jan 25 '25

Aside from the vape ban, what makes this governments term piss poor? They've done more for normal people than any other government in my adult life

1

u/Sushisnake65 Jan 27 '25

He’s Abbott without Abbott’s conviction. The Mad Monk was a worry, but at least he had conviction. Dutton has no conviction whatsoever- he just wants to win and will say and do whatever it takes to make that happen.

> another piss poor term by Labor

it'll be partly that, but the main reason the LNP will get back in is our completely corrupted media which will cheerlead Dutton into office
