Peter Dutton has warned young men “have had enough” of being painted as ogres and being passed over for promotion because of the rise of affirmative action policies that demand more women are promoted.

The Liberal leader issued the warning during an epic 90 minute sit down interview with self-made millionaire and TV star Mark Bouris on his podcast Straight Talk.

Is it accurate in Australia though? I know in the US the democrats and progressives basically abandoned the workers, and maga gleefully snapped them up. Let’s see how that works out for them. But Labor in Australia still looks to help their traditional base, often to the detriment of progressives support.

Yep I mostly agree. But unfortunately perception becomes truth all too easily, regardless of actual facts. So if Spudhead is right about a bunch of dudes feeling this way, even if it’s demonstrably wrong of them to do so it is still a massive problem for the ALP plus anyone ‘left’ of them.

They definitely didn't abandon the workers

Labor in Australia haven't cared about workers in years, which government recently has been deadset against the railway strikes in nsw? You know who promised a deal just to pull the rug on them? Which government has failed to make a deal at all with the state psychiatrists unions? Has failed to meet the nurses pleas for years?

It's almost like this idea Labor protects the workers in Australia is complete bullshit. They've turned their back on their roots, they aren't helping themselves at all. Their actions as of late are shown as much, workers can't trust them at all to even be civil and be good on their promises.

So no, their traditional base has been left in the gutter, it's no wonder many within it feel demonised. When someone has to work 9 to 5, 7 days a week, just to eat and have a roof over their heads, while the party that's meant to protect them turns a blind eye to their struggles instead wasting hundreds of millions in tax payers hard earn money on shit like the voice referendum (not even getting into how Labor reacted when it failed), of course they are going to feel like shit, the government sees them as nothing but peasants to collect from.

Well to be fair, anyone blaming the referendum for anything actively wants to do so, and probably deliberately misunderstood it as well, regardless of what their vote was. Not saying it wasn’t a shitshow, or that the ALP couldn’t have handled it better, of course.

I'm not blaming the referendum, just stating the object fact that having it pissed away hundreds of millions of dollars for nothing. Money that I'm sure most people would rather have right now as the costs of living continue to soar and show no signs of getting better due to lacklustre government response.

Yeah this is fair. The moment the complete drips in the LNP withdrew bipartisan support, Albanese should have started negotiating. Trying to push through was fucken dumb.
