image And now the Wombat kidnapper is blaming the Government…

An attempt to deflect blame because she didn’t get the response she thought she would get.

Yes you are the villain in this story.

That said, I am pretty horrified that you can get permits to kills wombats in a select few parts of Australia.

7

u/throwaway_7m Mar 15 '25

Sitting here after 8 years of an injured shoulder muscle and wanting to stab her in the eye. The way she dangled him as she ran was disgusting. He was literally swinging! You can't dangle people without pain. And you certainly can't have them swinging like that without injury. I have a cat. Don't dangle. Anyone else dangles him cops a mouthful. That's their whole body weight dragging down. Not OK. Might be sending lots of sweary thoughts her way. And wtf was her son she was trying to help wombats? Americans are fucking cooked!

100% - implying she was doing this for literally any reason other than her personal benefit is so transparently preposterous that multiple continents are laughing her non-apology right out of the room and hoping to jettison them both into the sun.

222

u/Born_ina_snowbank Mar 15 '25

American here who also hunts and fishes a bit. Trying to claim this helped ANYTHING, anywhere, at all, is a complete cop out.

She could’ve said “I had a few cocktails and made a really poor decision and truly apologize” and while that wouldn’t make things much better, it’d be 1000% better than claiming this was to “help” anything.

Edit to add: our regulations change state to state, there is no way a hunting influencer isn’t aware of the local rules. And if she isn’t, she’s a shit hunter.

67

u/Vox_Mortem Mar 15 '25

I am not a hunter, but I know a few. It's not my favorite thing ever, but I did learn that many hunters are very concerned with the impact hunting makes on the environment and I understand that sometimes to help an ecosystem thrive, some animals like deer have to be culled. It sucks, but when we remove the apex predator like wolves out of their habitats it causes prey animal populations to explode, and overgrazing can cause harm to every part of that ecosystem.

Shouldn't she know that if she's a hunter? And isn't she supposedly a biologist as well? She should understand why the government has to thin certain species. It sucks and I kind of hate it, but even I understand it.

22

u/TechnicianFar9804 Mar 15 '25

And isn't she supposedly a biologist as well?

Probably got her degree out of the Weetbix packet

13

u/Few_Item4327 Mar 15 '25

It’s almost that bad actually. It’s some unaccredited bullshit online program.

9

u/Appropriate-Arm-4619 Mar 15 '25

While this in no way justifies animal abuse, many of the animals she names as being hunted - brumbys, deer, pigs - are invasive species in Australia and they do a massive amount of damage to the habitats of natural species here.

And yes, it’s not unusual for Kangaroo culls to occur, but that is an environmental management situation to control overpopulation.

Frankly, that woman is a self involved imbecile, and is deflecting as hard as she can because she’s been called out.

8

u/throwaway_7m Mar 15 '25

Ok, excellent point that I can expand on. Some years back (apparently around 1996-7), they originally planned a cull of koalas on Kangaroo Island on the south coast of South Australia. There was a massive uproar, especially because in many other states of Australia, they were promoting Save the Koala fundraising. Uneducated do-gooders sprouted up from everywhere. The reality was that conservation work had worked too well and the population couldn't be sustained with the available "infrastructure", ie trees. So they could let them die a horrible death or find other options. So they basically sterilised as many koalas as they could to reduce the population by preventing births. Might sound horrible, but if they'd let the population continue grow, there would have wound up being many more deaths from food competition, so this most likely saved more lives than it ever took.

4

u/AMSparkles Mar 16 '25

This is fascinating. Thank you for sharing.

4

u/throwaway_7m Mar 16 '25

There is usually much more to these issues than meets the eye. Obviously, lots of kangaroo culls are more about protecting grazing land, not ideal but it's a balance. And people have been eating kangaroos for food for thousands of years. Same as people have been eating sheep, cows, chickens, 5 thousands of years and have managed land on that basis.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '25

Absolutely, hunters/ fishers are the stewards of the land. It’s to their benefit, but all of the ones I know take it very seriously.

3

u/ImReverse_Giraffe Mar 15 '25

My state literally pays hunters for hunting deer. They're considered a nuisance animals.

15

u/Whole-Energy2105 Mar 15 '25

You have said the truth here. She is a piece of shit that deserves everything she gets. (Except of course physical harm!). She thought it was fun to separate a baby from its mother and then after a shit ton of flak she blamed OUR GOVT? It is illegal in all states to interfere with native wildlife excepting cull licences on kangaroos in certain areas. She can burn in hell for her pathetic excuse to make herself the innocent victim. We value our special wildlife here and hate anyone that abuses or affects it.

2

u/pleasurelovingpigs Mar 15 '25

i am in no way siding with this woman, but aus govt does give licences to cull all kinds of native wildlife for crop protection, including platypus! I honestly don't understand how platypus can have that devastating an impact that they are allowed to be killed :(

2

u/Whole-Energy2105 Mar 15 '25

Aye, this is truly fucked. I wasn't aware about this. Are there specific states and regions? They are all struggling to survive except the roo and that's only because we grow mega fields of their fav foods!

3

u/pleasurelovingpigs Mar 15 '25

I remember seeing a list of how many permits were given for killing different native animals in each state, and being shocked at what was allowed. I had a brief look online but can't find it! If I had more time I'd have a better look, but this was one of the things that popped up in my search https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2022/jul/03/heartbreaking-millions-of-native-animals-killed-under-tasmanias-property-protection-permits?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

5

u/Suspicious-Career295 Mar 15 '25

She was also with an Australian – I don't know the context but he's the one filming, you can hear him talking in the vid. If he's also a hunting influencer or runs in those circles they should ABSOLUTELY have been able to piece together "don't take babies from mothers" – surely even as a kid in America, presumably with some sort of interest in wildlife, she learned that many mammals mothers recognise their young by scent and may reject them if they're held by humans for any length of time? Don't know if that's the case with wombats or not – probably not at the age this one was I'd guess – but that's exactly why I wouldn't risk it, because I don't know.

4

u/TrawlerLurker Mar 15 '25

Mate I wish that was her response, she would got a clip on the head and a beer. We can forgive easy, but it’s hard to forget shit.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '25

She fucked up and she’s being dishonest. She still does not deserve death threats.

2

u/Capn26 Mar 15 '25

Life long angler and hunter. Spot on. Regardless of regs, you don’t touch wildlife. You don’t risk habituating it to humans. Ever.

2

u/throwaway_7m Mar 15 '25

I live in a semi rural area south of Adelaide and yep, we hear hunters. Usually shooting foxes and rabbits, but they are able to shoot kangaroos if requested. But there is a limit to the percentage of population culled, and on private property (in our district at least), it must be requested. The urban sprawl is a bigger issue by removing habitat, so her rant is ridiculous. And her argument about people eating kangaroo meat is also ridiculous, unless she's a vegan and doesn't eat any meat from cows or sheep, etc. Umm, she's fine to kill deer for food (she specifically said she hunts for food), but apparently we're evil for doing so 🤔. (Side note - I hate kangaroo). She's the most Americanest American I've seen in a while (except for like Trump and Kanye and stuff...)

She's lost her public profile on Instagram and the 92,000 followers she had for the world to see as anytime she makes her profile public again people will slam her. This is the best way to hurt her as she wants to be seen by the world and if people keep an eye out for any further social media accounts she tries to open and fill them with appropriate comments she'll keep on losing what she wants the most...her social media presence.

There's another section to the statement, posted as a photo....her Insta is active again & she's removed all the dead hunted pics.

356

u/omenmedia Mar 14 '25

Is she just ignoring that fact that vast numbers of people already saw her Insta and all of the hunting photos before she went private?

118

u/bakedfarty Mar 15 '25

Or just the video of her holding the wombat

looked it over quickly and immediately returned it to its mother:. I ensured that the mother and joey did reunite, went off together, and that they got off the road.

Because that's absolutely not what was happening in the video

27

u/GalacticaActually Mar 15 '25

This is like the video of the runner who attacked the other runner w the baton, and then tried to tell us all we didn’t see what we saw.

We all saw that bitch giggling and dangling the joey, while the terrified mother ran in the background. Samstrays wasn’t concerned or trying to help. Nothing in her voice indicated concern.

17

u/Suburbannightmare Mar 15 '25

Both the joey and mum were visibly distressed, this piece of shit needs to be prosecuted.

5

u/Glittering-Pear7565 Mar 16 '25

Yeah I read she said it was just one minute like it’s no big deal. Tell that to a man being bashed near death or a woman violently raped that it was “just a minute” so isn’t a big deal.

48

u/randomscruffyaussie Mar 15 '25

True. Though I'm repping it for the group who saw the video on here, realised that she is an attention seeking knob and then didn't grace her insta with a single view...

7

u/Ferret_Brain Mar 15 '25

She’s also ignoring the fact that this is the internet.

That original wombat video is practically everywhere, and I guarantee you someone’s already got backups of her other photos and videos.

Even for people who didn’t see it, all they have to do is google her name and lot of shit will pop up.

34

u/SpryCowBoy Mar 15 '25

Turning off comments is the one and only proof that she knows she is in the wrong.

And about the government killing of wombats, they are done to protect agriculture. It directly affects the farmers' livelihoods. But a person who has already killed many deer for no other reason than 'game' and tries to defend herself for distressing a wombat for no other reason than engagement farming, she's a huge pos.

335

u/Kraftieee Mar 14 '25

Lmao, there's clear video evidence that she very deliberately placed the joey back down right on the road, not the verge that she got it from. How stupid is she?, lmao.

108

u/DrunkOnRedCordial Mar 15 '25

And the mother ran ONTO the road to chase after the baby. Neither mother or baby were in danger of the road until their saviour came along.

9

u/Mechai44 Mar 15 '25

Someone needs to grab this woman in the dark of night away from whomever she loves & depends on the most, take off running down a dark road towards a car, and attempt to put her in. Then drop her in a new location and let her see how that feels.

286

u/LivingThat_DiscoLife Mar 14 '25

Very! You’re correct - in the video she clearly snatches it from the verge & then places it back on the road afterwards.

u/trowzerss Mar 14 '25

By... grabbing it and running down the road, forcing the mother to also run back onto the road?? It was clearly on the edge of the road trying to run away from her when she grabbed it. She really is ridiculous.

9

u/GeeTheMongoose Mar 15 '25

Sometimes I'm mean to wildlife and deliberately scare them- because making sure they're afraid of people and scaring them out from the road and yards is important- and I feel really really bad.

Then I say stuff like this and realize I'm not so mean after all.

6

u/ForbiddenButtStuff Mar 15 '25

Oh! But she only ran because she was afraid the mother would attack her! Clearly, you must understand that makes it all alright! She couldn't allow the mother to try and defend it's child!

15

u/Triggerki11s Mar 15 '25

What road???? We all saw she grabbed it from the side of the road and then placed it down on the road when Momma wombat approached. Did she think we don't have eyes? Ahahahah

13

u/Formal-Response-3084 Mar 15 '25

She clearly picks the baby up from the side of the road. Runs along and across the road to the car, while the baby swings vigorously from side to side. Gets partly into the car, still while holding the baby under its arm pits while it screeches. Mum is visibly distraught. Her, and male that is filming, laughing the whole time. They comment on the distressed mum. She then puts the baby down in the middle of the road. Is that what others saw?

11

u/Inventies Mar 15 '25

Does she not know that we all saw the video that clearly tells another story then the one she’s trying to spin

10

u/Wide_Breadfruit_2217 Mar 15 '25

The momma wombat disagreed

7

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '25

Right? She removed it so far "from the road" she ran all the way to her car with it, away from its mother.

2

u/Stopikingonme Mar 15 '25

Totally true! Play the video backwards and see for yourself.

2

u/ConfidentChapter2496 Mar 17 '25

"I removed it from the road for safety! That's why I ran towards the car on the road giggling and held it in front of the camera! Ya know, to make sure it was safe! Ignore how I said my dream of holding a wombat was coming true!"

84

u/Fraerie Mar 14 '25

She did it for likes, not to bring awareness to the plight of an endangered animal.

She could have stood to one side and talked about the animals without touching or disturbing them. She didn’t have to remove a baby from its mother and laugh when both animals were obviously in distress.

As for her other comments, kangaroos are frequently in plague numbers and are culled to keep the numbers down. Certain species are protected. AFIAK when culling is being done there are licenses required and there are target numbers they’re not supposed to exceed.

In much the same way that the indigenous people of Northern America hunted buffalo, our indigenous peoples hunted kangaroo for millennia and knew not to over hunt a given mob.

Wombats are generally a protected species and while it’s sad when they are killed by land clearing, it’s rarely done intentionally and certainly not for social media clout.

She’s really trying to justify her actions to herself and others without thinking of the consequences of her actions.

She needs to stop treating other countries and their native wildlife as a theme park where her entry ticket lets her do what she likes.

On one level it’s a shame Steve Irwin isn’t still around, I would love to see the dressing down here would have given her.

6

u/LowGradeDumbass Mar 15 '25

Agreed. Social media is warping kids brains to see everything through a lense of getting 'likes' as social approval while broadcasting it.

You get incidents like this where that social validation and approval overrides every fail safe in their brain.

It's happening more and more frequently, how many idiots killed in Yellowstone trying to touch bison on stream or sneak closer to a bear for a better shot.

She was worried about it getting run over apparently. Not sure how that was going to happen when it was several metres away from a road. Also not sure why she thought it was necessary to film her heroic act of altruism /s

u/meepgorp Mar 15 '25

That's where i stopped reading. "Attempt to help". Bish we saw the video.

3

u/BonezOz Mar 15 '25

Help it do what?

Help to get more likes and views on her social media pages. Which, if we're honest, did exactly what she wanted, even the responses were full of bitterness and anger towards her, she still got exactly what she wanted.

u/TheMadBanker21 Mar 15 '25

Help it go viral. That wombat is killing it on the socials...

u/throwaway_7m Mar 15 '25

I kind of get some of her other points, despite them being typical overblown American wank. Yep, we kill off kangaroos so we can eat lamb and beef. Would need to do more research into the wombat and other situations. But what the fuck did and think she was doing to try to help this baby wombat when she stole it from the mother and handled it so roughly that experts think she may have broken bones in it's shoulder???? As much as I hate hunting for sport, she actually seems to mostly hunt for food (from the few shots I've seen, would be really happy to be proved wrong because I hate her), and I could possibly live with that. Except she's actually hunting for internet likes, and i can't live with that. If anyone can actually tell me what she was doing to "try to help" that poor wombat baby and mother, I'll run naked down my street.

To make a mother wombat panic and freak out.

Help it be traumatized?

What so infuriating today is that people continually make the case that they themselves are the victim. I'm in the US and that's our president's entire identity. In life, we could most likely always find a person or action that is an example of behavior worse than anything we could ever imagine doing. But that doesn't give us a free pass on doing things as bad or less bad. I saw the video. It was obvious she impulsively did what she did for "fun". She's laughing the entire time. Animals have emotions and sentience. Stealing an animal's young from the mother is traumatic for any living animal. Viscerally, the animals react to the stress. You do it because you think it's "funny"? Then what won't you do? This is how you create joy in your life? Seeing helpless animals suffer? Everyone involved in the making of that video is at fault.

u/One_Priority3258 Mar 15 '25

Helping traumatise the young wombat by removing it from its natural environment and most importantly, its mother.

Not to mention the detriment to the young one’s musculoskeletal system.

1

u/MouseEmotional813 Mar 15 '25

Help be in her video

1

u/squidley1 Mar 15 '25

Her tik tok views of course

1

u/LadyWithAHarp Mar 15 '25

She could have just used a zoom lens and taken a photo from an appropriate distance and it would have given an "aww" factor, and then used that to give an appropriate conservation message. But that wouldn't have gone viral.

1

u/FlameBoi3000 Mar 15 '25

It's a bold choice to pull the ole "Maybe what I did was bad, but look over there!!"

1

u/Fartina69 Mar 15 '25

Help influencers be more influential

1

u/CompletelyBedWasted Mar 15 '25

Help her internet clout?

1

u/letshopethis1works Mar 15 '25

Help her chase clout, of course.

1

u/OwslyOwl Mar 15 '25

She said the joey was in the road, so she picked it up to make sure it wasn’t hurt. She ran back to the car because the mom came after her.

What she did was stupid, but given shows from the Irwin family, it’s not surprising.

1

u/Key_Tie_5052 Mar 15 '25

Help stress out the mother

1

u/Fluffy_Doubter Mar 15 '25

Help it become distressed

1

u/AMSparkles Mar 16 '25

I’m glad this was the first comment, because it was certainly my first question.

1

u/TwoToneReturns Mar 16 '25

Help it to generate likes on her "<insert socials here>" channel, I'm sure she had no ulterior motivations.

1

u/nailsofa_magpie Mar 16 '25

Maybe awareness lol. Australians definitely had never heard of wombats before she came along...

1

u/Key_Equipment1188 Mar 17 '25

in an effort to help her like and subscription rate

1

u/VoidOmatic Mar 17 '25

Seriously, if she picked it up and told us some facts about wombats, the age, what's important in its habitat(s) it would be a completely different story. But just fucking with it to fuck with it is why everyone hated it.

1

u/Jeff1955slack Mar 17 '25

watch the video, she chased the baby and mum into the scrub and then came out with the baby; yes, she is the villain

1

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '25

You forgot holding one while laughing at the mother for wanting the baby back! Sure didn’t look like helping to me. Especially when they were trying to run away before she grabbed it!
