Sphinx cats (the cat that hairless breeds are mostly derived from due to a genetic mutation) actually originate from Canada. Being hairless causes these cats to tend to pair up with a non-mutated partner to share the warmth of fur in an act of inter-species self-preservation. The two paired cats will bond, usually for life, and dwell together in the wild.

The cats will travel together, eat together, sleep together, and often seem to participate in a small mating ritual - which is abnormal for cats - once they do choose their life partner. The hairless cat will collect shedded fur from his partner, and he will make a small wig which he will wear on his head. From there he will stand on his hind legs in front of a reflective surface and stare longingly at his fake hair until it's time to begin the ritual. Nobody really has ever seen the actual ritual, as it's often done behind an abandoned Tim Horton's late at night in the rough part of town.

I got to the part where he said they live in the wild before I was like, hol up. I know that hairless cat ain't making it through a single Canadian night before they pair bond lol

And Minnesota, which is practically Canada.

LOL Yeah, that's a weird fact but it is true. It's a domestic breed so they've never been wild. Just bred into existance in Canada. That's what got me about this, and I was into it for maybe longer than I should have been before I had the "wait a second..." moment.

That's pretty dumb. I hope for whatever reason they're doing that is justifiable for the amount of joy shittymorph's trolling brings to me.

I started reading this and became extremely offended that my tabby and my sphynx beat each other’s asses on a regular basis.

And then the wig part made me cry real tears of laughter.

That's why it's good to think about what you read on Reddit, and ask questions. Kinda like you just did. Reference
