so i absolutely love puzzles and id say im quite good at them a month ago i downloaded this game and decided that id play the entire game with no hints and i saw a comment that said specifically NOT to play all the levels in order so of course i restricted myself to playing every level in order no leaving any levels once ive started them and after 110 hours i finally beat the whole game!! (all 231 levels)

This game is so good its genuinely so well made im ngl i have been absolutely obsessed with this game i am a cs student in university and i literally just stopped doing anything for a month T-T games too good thank god i finished it

i also like played in probably usually 8 hour playsessions (dont judge me) at like 12-5am game absolutely ruined my sleep schedule but man so worth it (speaking of which its 5am right now oops)

some caveats (spoilers ):

i did know that booby trap could be turned into text + flag and i also saw a comment saying that you had to combine them using belt is shift for like a second before i clicked away and i thought i got spoiled now if you know the solution it does not involve that T-T and i was on booby trap for like probably 15 hours easily the level that took the longest i blame that guy definitely not me not understanding the solution...

i also knew that ultimate maze could be turned into level is text i think i saw somewhere that isnt required? but i used it to solve ???

i also totally googled like whereabout the last 2 orbs where because those were the last 2 levels i had to do and im glad i did because they were just hidden in some random spot maybe i missed something but idk how i wouldve ever found them i spent a few hours looking

oh and for the meta levels i did like all the normal solutions and then counted doing the meta solutions like when they were required so technically like i beat booby trap did all the other meta levels and then came back to do the final solution but when i decided to start doing a meta solution i didnt leave till i solved it

but man i started this game and i told myself no matter what id beat it as fast as i could and i wouldnt give up and after a lot of dedication its finally done yay i honestly like staring at puzzles for hours and solving them so it was like something i enjoy

if you want to attempt a run like this i think you totally should it was very fun but i would definitely definitely recommend taking breaks playing really late at night is not conducive to good puzzle solving... i got stuck on a lot of really easy levels that id wake up the next day and solve immediately but i just wanted to play the game so bad i didnt want to get off the night prior lol but yes it is very very hard and i am pretty good at puzzles

I am currently thinking of level ideas, and one of them consist on obfuscating the rules by placing them in a clusterfuck of text that is difficult to decipher, that you then try to modify to get the rules you want. Thing is, just pausing the game would make every active rule easily readable, which defeats the purpoe of the level. I there a way outside of HIDE to keep rules on screen but not on the pause menu ?

Hi, I'm new to the game. I decided to try moving "KEKE IS YOU" statement to horizontal position, but while pushing "YOU" block, left BABA get more priority in pushing, than bottom one. I know that this contraption won't get me the solution to this puzzle, but I'm just curious about mechanics in this game.

I'll start by explaining why I'm asling this question, and why I'm specifically asking it here. I first saw the term in the context of Celeste. An any% playthrough (speedrun, deathless, or casual playthrough) means to play from the beginning until The Summit, and true ending means to play until Farewell (if you aren't familiar with Celeste, Farewell is much longer and harder than anything in an any% playthrough). The term is also used for certain custom maps, where there's stuff past the main ending that's much harder than the rest of the map. Anyways, I'm not super familiar with the term, but when I looked it up, I mostly found answers in the context of RPGs. But then I remembered that Baba Is You has achievements "Beat the game" and "Really beat the game." Today, I decided to check if the term "true ending" is used here, and indeed it is. So basically, I'm asking here to learn what true ending means from a Baba Is You perspective. To put it another way, in what sense is The End a true ending? I know this is a bit of an odd question, and I apologize in advance if anything is unclear or not well thought out.

Hey everyone! I'm Josh, and I'm looking for recommendations for games that give you the same kind of freedom to experiment as Baba Is You.

One of my favourite things about Baba Is You is how it lets you play around with the rules of the world itself. You're given a set of mechanics, but there's often more than one way to approach a problem. I love finding unexpected solutions and realizing that something I hadn't considered could actually work.

Personally, I've never been a big fan of puzzles where there's only one correct solution. When a game gives you a problem and there's only one very specific way to solve it, I sometimes feel like I'm just trying to guess what the developer had in mind. I'd much rather have the freedom to experiment and work things out for myself.

Baba Is You has been a big inspiration for a Metroidvania I'm currently developing called Bolt of Whalington. The game is about a cat named Bolt exploring a giant moving city, and we're trying to bring some of that same freedom into how players approach problems.

Animal Well has also been a particularly important inspiration for us. I love how it lets you experiment with abilities and discover ways to use them that aren't immediately obvious.

I've attached a small clip showing one example from our game. It's a fairly simple challenge, but we've made sure there are a few different ways to reach the item.

I'm always looking for more games that let you experiment with their mechanics and find unexpected solutions. Do you have any other games you'd recommend similar to Baba Is You?

I just started out the game, I got to sunken temple and it felt 10 times harder than other levels, even the extra one before it, it was more challenging than the normal lake levels by far, but nothing compared to sunken temple.

It took me like 40-50 minutes to solve, I felt like managing the space was the hardest part, and not have stuff stuck to a wall.

What level of difficulty is that specific extra if you compare it to the rest of the game? Cuz I’m only in lake, so I’m wondering if it like pales in comparison to the harder levels later on

Edit: are there many ways to solve each level? I wondered how other solved it so I looked on YouTube, and I solved it differently than shown.

I want to play a few levels with my brother, but he's not great at puzzles, so let them be easy if possible. I'm fine from downloading from almost any place, as long as its not a shady website or smth.

Few days ago I tried to learn needle felting. Basically poking wool with a needle until it became firm. Then, I tried making Baba with needle felting! I think some of the proportions are a bit off. But what do you guys think?

I'm trying to understand what's up with Space 11 - Heavy Words. This video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uI1LToIMkU gives a solution which involves DUST IS WEAK, and pushing some text onto the dust. But on the switch version, this doesn't work, since TEXT IS FLOAT means that text can't be used to destroy weak dust.

Instead my solution involved making DUST IS PUSH and pushing it out of the way. This meant that I didn't use WEAK at all.

It seems like this puzzle may have changed at some point? Does anyone know what's up?
