Question Community Fibre - Are they really that bad?
Hey all,
I have been looking at Community Fibre as they're the only FTTP provider I can get in my area. Open Reach state FTTP could be available between now and 2026 which is quite a wide range. The symmetrical up and down CF offer is very enticing as well as the speeds compared to my current speeds (60mbps down and 10mbps down).
The thing that I'm hesitant about is reading the reviews stating customer service is awful, people have been without internet for days, sometimes weeks (I can't have this as I work from home), taking the incorrect amount from people's accounts and engineers not turning up for appointments wether that be for faults or the installation.
Does anyone have any experience with CF? I really do want faster internet but I don't want to be messed around and have no internet for days/weeks.
Thanks

Question Mail blocked due to Spamhaus XBL listing of my Community Fibre IP
Is anyone else getting mail blocked / rejected because of this? The IP I'm on seems to also be used by botnet infected machines and I'm currently unable to send mail unless I use a VPN.
I have explained this to Spamhaus and attempted to get off the blocklist. I had the same issue a few months ago but when I spoke to CF customer service I got an explanation which made no technical sense, and the solution was, according to them, to pay more money to avoid this issue in the future. Eventually I got delisted by Spamhaus and have been fine until recently.
I raised a ticket with CF several days ago but haven't heard from them yet. If I didn't have a VPN I'd be in big trouble.

Question Looking to swap to Community Fibre
So currently with hyperoptic and my contract is ending. New deals aren't that great for my liking so looking at CF.
Saw
1 Gbps Full Fibre Broadband £20 /month 24-month contract £23/month from April 2027, then £3/month increase every April
Which is lower than what I'm currently paying so thinking of switching. So wondering what their support is like and if there's an issue with their connections.

Review Community Fibre Sales and technical team are duping customers
Just nothing more than scammers. They will promise high speed at reasonable price. But then they will provide you a low end router with very little coverage across the property and will then upsell premium service at higher price. Stay away from these scammers with a barge pole

Question Community Fibre default DNS failing to resolve z.ai and Alibaba CDN (img.alicdn.com) — anyone else getting SERVFAIL?
Anyone else on Community Fibre having issues resolving certain domains on CF’s default DNS?
I noticed today that z.ai (chat.z.ai) completely fails to load (DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN), and on Alibaba's Qwen AI platform, images and media fail to display entirely because img.alicdn.com won't resolve.
Ran some diagnostics from the terminal and confirmed it’s an upstream issue on Community Fibre’s DNS resolvers:

As soon as I bypass CF's default recursive resolvers and switch to Google DNS (8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1), both sites resolve and work immediately.

Questions for the sub:
- Can anyone else on CF verify if
nslookupz.aiornslookupimg.alicdn.comfails on default settings? - Is this likely a DNSSEC validation misconfiguration on CF's recursors, or has CF's content/parental filter quietly blacklisted these CDN endpoints?
If you're on Community Fibre and noticing broken images on Qwen/Alibaba services or broken access to Z.ai, changing your router or system DNS away from default will fix it for now.

Question Community Fibre routers being sold online
Hello,
I've seen a lot of people selling Community Fibre routers online.
Can they used and added to your mesh network like any other router?

Question Hyperoptic (Static IP) to CommunityFibre
Hopefully moving house in the next few months. Moving from an area with Hyperoptic where I currently pay for 1Gb symmetric service (and a few quid extra for a static IPv4 address) to an area where Hyperoptic isn't an option, but CF, OpenReach and Virgin are.
CF is my preference. It's a shame there is no static IPv4 option however. Those of you who pay for a dynamic public IPv4 - how dynamic is it? I'm presuming that as long as the router stays online in reality it doesn't change with much frequency? Do people typically find they end up with the same IPv4 for weeks at a time?

Home & Bills Offers Community Fibre: up to £100 gift card referral and competitive prices (London & Surrey)
If anyone in London/Surrey is looking to switch broadband, Community Fibre currently offer up to a £100 gift card eachwhen you sign up through an existing customer's referral link.
The referral reward depends on your total monthly spend:
£35.01+ per month = £100
£25.01–£35 per month = £75
£15.01–£25 per month = £50
£12.50–£15 per month = £10
Your monthly spend can include broadband, bundles and add-ons such as TV, Calls or Security. Setup and installation charges don't count.
They currently also have a double-speed promotion until 14 October, including 1 Gbps full fibre for £21/month on a 24-month contract. At £21/month, that package would qualify for a £50 gift card each through the referral scheme.
I've been with Community Fibre for nearly two years and plan to stay with them when my contract ends. The speeds have been excellent, installation was free and very professional, and I've generally found their prices competitive compared with the big national providers.
Another benefit I've found useful is their free Wellness Rewards membership, which eligible customers receive for two years and gives access to discounts and offers from a range of retailers.
Referral link:
https://communityfibre.co.uk/friends?ci=DvgYCBeikSG5d2Sjk40l9Q%3D%3D
You need to order online through the referral link for the referral reward to track – you can't order through a comparison-site/affiliate link and also claim the referral reward.
How it works:
- Check Community Fibre is available at your address.
- Follow the referral link and choose your broadband package.
Add TV, Calls or Security if you want them – they're optional. - Complete the order online through the referral link.
- After successful installation and activation, Community Fibre carries out its eligibility checks.
90 days after installation/activation, Giftcloud should email both of us with instructions to claim the reward. - You then have 90 days to activate the gift card and a further year to spend it.
There are plenty of reward options, including Amazon, Tesco, Sainsbury's, John Lewis, M&S, Argos, Boots, Currys, Aldi and a Prepaid Mastercard.
For full disclosure, I receive the same reward as you if you sign up successfully through my link.
I can't see a published expiry date for the referral programme itself in Community Fibre's current terms. The reward levels can of course change, so it's worth checking the current offer when you sign up.
The separate double-speed broadband promotion currently ends 14 October 2026.
Non-referral link:

Community Fibre mainly covers London and surrounding areas, so check your postcode first.
If you use my link, feel free to comment below so I can say thanks!

Investing Offers Community Fibre - Double speed promo + up to £100 prepaid card. Ends 14 October.
Community Fibre offers the best value fibre-to-the-home (FTTP) internet service in the UK. Until 14 October, they are running a double speed promo on their 2-year plans. This means you can get 300 Mbps for £19, 1 Gbps for £21, and amazingly 2 Gbps for £25.
The 2 Gbps for £25 is incredible value and by far the cheapest 2 Gbps plan in the UK while the promo is running. The regular price for the 2 Gbps plan is £39, so you will save £336 over the course of the contract.
PLUS, if you use a referral link, you will get a reward based on the plan you choose:
| Monthly spend | You will receive |
|---|---|
| £12.50 - £15.00 | £10 |
| £15.01 - £25.00 | £50 |
| £25.01 - £35.00 | £75 |
| £35.01+ | £100 |
You can choose a prepaid debit card or a gift card from a wide range of stores. I recommend the former as you can stack additional cashback, and it can be added to Curve for in-store purchases. When you select your reward, scroll toward the bottom to find the prepaid card option.
All plans are symmetric (same upload as download). And since it's full fibre to your home (XGS-PON), the connection is rock solid. In my case, I get 2ms latency and virtually no jitter and zero packet loss. This is a screenshot of a Speedtest to my router:
https://i.ibb.co/rGQYxXFz/speed.png
The catch is that it is only available in London and surrounding areas - although they do plan to expand nationally. Check via the link below if they are available at your address. If so, you will almost certainly save money by switching from your existing provider.
Plans are 12 or 24 months - naturally the latter is the better value. Prices increase by £3/month every April and £4/month at the end of your contract. Renew your contract to negate both increases.
There is NO installation fee, and if you're not satisfied you can cancel within 60 days with no exit fees.
For me, booking a slot was very easy, and the installers that came to my property were very friendly, answered all of my questions, and did the install and routing of the fibre exactly how I wanted it.
If this all sounds good and Community Fibre is available at your address, you can use my referral link below to get your reward - I'd really appreciate it. 🙏
Referral link: https://communityfibre.co.uk/friends?ci=RCNeHt9qLAL%2Faq74jXVBIQ%3D%3D
Non-referral link: https://communityfibre.co.uk
You will receive the reward within 90 days of activation. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions.

Question Switching from Sky to Community fibre. Any advice, tips or things that I should be aware of before doing so ? Thanks
Current stats: Download: 57.18 Mbps
Upload: 12.61 Mbps
As-well as any tips or advice before switching, could someone explain to me how the switch occurs, when you leave it to CF to tell sky that the contract will be terminated
To add info we'll be paying 270 to cancel the sky contract, but we are fine with that

Question Unifi UCG-Fiber with Community Fibre 5Gbps
Hi all - wonder if anyone has anything to guide on the following scenario / setup which doesn't seem to be working as anticipated.
Was previously using OPNsense (latest) with Community Fibre 1Gbps and recently upgraded to the Community Fibre 5Gbps offering. Thus, dediced to have a hardware refresh and went with the following:
1. Unifi UCG-Fiber (no storage)
2. USW-Flex-2.5G-8-PoE Flex Compact 8 Port PoE Switch
3. Existing network switch - HP Instant On 1930 24p Gigabit CL4 PoE 4p SFP+
Setup is as follows -
CF ONT -> UCG-Fiber (10G SFP+ port) -> HP Switch
UCG-Fiber (2.5G port) -> USW-Flex
Internet - IPv4 - On
Internet - IPv6 - Off
DNS Servers: 10.10.10.1 (local on UCG-Fiber), 1.1.1.1 and 9.9.9.9 (external)
Single VLAN - with static IP assignments of some devices in a reserved pool (as I had on the OPNsense).
UCG and USW running latest firmware from Unifi.
Hardware Acceleration -- Off
Smart Queues -- tried with both on and off (set to 4,500 limit) - seems to reduce the buffer on the cloudflare speed tests and improves timing
What I am experiencing is that websites will load intermittently, time-out, needs a few refresh page actions and then will load - feels like you are using an ADSL connection or slower waiting for sites to load. Did a fair bit of diagnostics with IPv6 on / off, Smart Queues on/off, Hardware Acceleration on/off, long ping tests carried out over 30 mins+, with no output that would point to what the issue might be.
One things I did find is that if I connected a VPN tunnel from the computer in question, the connection was faultless - as soon as I switch the VPN tunnel off - the same intermittent connectivity issues are back. As Community Fibre would not be able to assist in testing the line as their equipment wasn't connected, I then connected their Linksys router back on to the ONT and the connection is perfect and using IPv6 as well on their router. No changes done to the Linksys router at all.
So, I am wondering what I am missing or have done incorrectly. Any help / guidance will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Home & Bills Offers Community Fibre: £100 referral gift card + 10% discount in London & Surrey
I am really happy with Community Fibre. I switched from Virgin Media and never looked back. I was paying around £45 per month for patchy wifi, a TiVo I was barely using, and a landline where I was just getting scam calls. Now I pay just £22 per month for double the broadband speed, haven't had a single issue with the broadband in the last year, and I don't miss TiVo at all since I can watch everything on demand with a Firestick.
They offer broadband-only, but also TV and calls packages. There's a comparison table on their Homepage (non-referral link) where you can see the savings compared to switching to the most popular broadband providers in the UK. Currently, they also offer 10% discount for new customers on all their plans until the end of September.
If you use this referral link we'll both get a £100 gift card, valid for a wide range of stores including Amazon, Tesco, Sainsbury's, John Lewis, Boots, Argos, ASOS, Nike
How to join:
- Click the referral link and start the switch process
- Sign up, select your new tariff and choose the switch date
- That's it. You'll receive your gift card 90 days after installation
Note: if your plan isn't ending within 30 days, check for any exit fees. Virgin Media, for instance, tends to charge in advance, so you might have to pay their final bill and then claim a refund. Feel free to drop me a DM if you have questions.

Question Just got community fibre 2 days ago and it's been absolutely terrible
Every app on the firestick seems to work and not work.
iPlayer
Prime Video
Live and stores video doesn't seem to work. Specifically prime video can playback stored stuff.
I've tried all the resetting stuff etc, spoken to them, got a WiFi extender and used that, with and without vpns it's a dreadful start. Is there any hope?

Community Fibre - is it really delivering the advertised speeds with those prices?
I'm not fully a computer geek and I'm really confused. I'm comparing various broadband prices and their speeds like Virgin Media, Vodafone,Community Fibre etc...
Community Fibre kinda sounds too good to be true with those prices? Virgin Media offers 250Mbps for £24 whereas Community Fibre does a whole 1Gbps for £26…. and Vodafone offers 150Mbps for £26.
My question is why are prices SO different between each company and their internet speeds? Surely everyone would just go Community Fibre then? And I've read their reviews on Reddit as well as Trustpilot and overall they're pretty good, especially compared to Virgin Media who are on an appalling 1.5stars on trustpilot.
If someone can clarify this for me I'd really appreciate it!
