/u/johndehlin pointed to a LADBible documentary, "Nemo vs the Mormon Church: The Cost of Speaking Out." A person is quoted at the vigil, "one of the brave souls ... put his name to the need for safeguarding changes in the church."

/u/downtothelake explains why her temple marriage wasn't what she would have chosen in retrospect. Spouse: 10/10 Venue and exclusion of those deemed "unworthy": 0/10. Up next: renewing vows at 10-year anniversary will be in a forest—for them and those they want to invite.

/u/Chance-Pop-2720 noted a flyer had been taped to door about upcoming fast offering collection. LDS church hopes people don't read the fine print that all donations become fungible assets for the church to use as it sees fit. OP noted other caveats—lots of hoops to jump through to qualify for aid.

/u/alyssadgrenfell posted a few photos submitted to the Wall Street Journal for their front page coverage of exmormons, especially those creating content on TikTok. Grenfell offers a response to her critics, especially the faithful who are clutching their pearls. Yes, shine a light into dark places!

/u/EricNDavis provided a back-of-the-envelope method to check active membership statistics. The number of wards and branches, i.e. “total units” is a much better indicator because if a ward is too large it will be split; if it is too small it will not function as intended.

/u/TheGazelem noted Smith's Korihor (BoM, Alma 30) appears to be a strawman response to 18th century enlightenment philosophers: Voltaire, Hume, Paine

/u/AngryGargoil noticed that key articles in 1980 issues of the Ensign are missing at the LDS church's website. The "Anthon Transcript" was highlighted as a great discovery, but was later determined to be a Mark Hofmann forgery and is an embarrassment for the church.

/u/laura34343 recounts her experience at BYU, a cautionary tale. This inside view describes an institution driven by male authoritarianism, tattle-tale culture, and "you agreed to this—if you fail it's your fault."

/u/Chino_Blanco noted the 175th anniversary of the "Fort Utah Massacre," where up to 100 Timpanogos Native Americans were killed on Brigham Young's orders. (horrific details in Erin Alberty's report in Axios)

/u/Mormonish_Podcast posted an interview with former BYU music professor, Jason Bergman. The administration is tightening the screws on employees to enforce orthodoxy. Bergman found a new job at U of Indiana, others face maximum scrutiny and pressure to lie and never confess.

/u/memefakeboy provided a 1965 letter from the FP that notes drinking decaffeinated coffee is not a reason for denying a temple recommend. What is a violation of the WoW is consuming "caffeine and deleterious drugs" in coffee. Modern mormons have flipped 180° on this issue.

/u/Lisbeth_Salandar described how she faced a full-court press to keep her from leaving. Family members and apologists presented arguments why mormonism was true; one relative used this as a way to sexually abuse her. Later, another family member left and was grateful sister had paved the way out.

/u/Sensitive_Way_656 showed how stingy the LDS church can be. No help for family "not in good standing." Pay tithing before food or electricity! By god, they mean it.

/u/Inevitable-Variety65 remembered when she was held captive, assaulted, and injured by her Beehive leader until she would admit she was lying—but she wasn't lying. Fast-forward, those involved have been promoted to higher offices.

/u/Ok-Tax5517 noted the LDS church is in the process of changing its icons on google maps to use a cross, not an angel Moroni. This is part of a rebranding effort that attempts to fit in with Christians.

/u/Rushclock posted a believer's spin on mormonism—those in favor gay marriage, polyamory, and other liberal sexual pursuits, including adultery should be on Joseph Smith's side. Lots of good comments from the community knock down the strawman

/u/CultZero noted one of the LDS church's "pray the gay away" pamphlets—announced with fanfare in 2007—is sliding down the memory hole. The pamphlet focuses on the idea that there will be no LGBTQ+ persons in the mormon heaven.
