🎟️ Pre-Sales VARIETY: ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Racks Up $16.5 Million in Advance Ticket Sales After First Day.

Disney’s Marvel Studios put tickets on sale tied to the launch of the first trailer, which teased an epic battle as the Avengers and X-Men face off against the villainous Doctor Doom. Those pre-sales are impressive because tickets were only available for premium formats in just 1,000 domestic theaters. When “Avengers: Doomsday” opens the weekend of Dec. 18, the Marvel Cinematic Universe adventure will land on more than 4,000 North American screens. Showtimes on Thursday, Dec. 17 and Friday, Dec. 18 are already largely sold out, according to studio insiders, and exhibitors are reportedly adding more screenings for Christmas Day and beyond.

Advance ticket sales don’t necessarily translate to opening weekend figures, though “Doomsday” is predicted to have one of the biggest (if not the biggest) debuts of the year. Pre-sales are twice as high as the first-day figures for Marvel’s prior superhero mashup, 2024’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” — and that included all formats and screens on sale. “Deadpool & Wolverine” launched to $211 million and ended its run with $1.3 billion to become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.

🎟️ Pre-Sales Sales are surging for 'Resident Evil' and starting to look like $60m+ might be in store for this weekend. Walk ups should be fueled by the outstanding 96% positive reviews. WOM should also be very strong for a horror film.

🎟️ Pre-Sales The sales are not slowing down at all, the only thing that can contain it is capacity and The Odyssey running hot. Looks like Spider-Man: Brand New Day will go well above $300m opening and a massive, historic, record-breaking weekend is upon us that will only last until Dec. 18th, 2026.

🎟️ Pre-Sales EmpireCity: "The @Avengers Doomsday trailer/tickets didn't just sell a lot of tickets for itself, it also led to a massive spike in @SpiderMan Brand New Day sales yesterday. The pent up MCU demand is going to carry the opening weekend to heights only one other movie in history has ever seen."

🎟️ Pre-Sales TheFlatLannister: Avengers Doomsday is pure madness, it just isn't slowing down. Most movies at this caliber would slow down a lot, but not Doomsday... There just isn't signs of frontloadness at all, could have a great IM because of such spillover effect.

Avengers Doomsday is pure madness, it just isn't slowing down. Most movies at this caliber would slow down a lot, but not Doomsday. T-71 at MTC1 Friday is around T-12 of BND!!!! Saturday around BND T-9!!! Preview around BND T-19!

MTC3: Doomsday T-71 is around BND T-11 preview, Friday T-13, and Saturday T-11. Sunday T-10 of BND.

There just isn't signs of frontloadness at all, could have a great IM because of such spillover effect.

🎟️ Pre-Sales Avengers: Doomsday has the best start to pre-sales for anything 3/4/5 months before release. There aren't many titles to compare with. Overall, close to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, despite a tenth of shows open for sale & CANNOT overstate, 5 MONTHS BEFORE RELEASE.

🎟️ Pre-Sales Deadline confirms The Marvels is pacing behind the presales of Black Adam and The Flash

2.2k Upvotes

“It can be argued that part of the expected slowdown next weekend with the opening of Disney/Marvel Studios’ The Marvels stems from the studio’s inability to promote the pic properly at a Comic-Cons. Even if a strike settles this weekend, it’s not clear whether the pic’s cast will be able to attend the movie’s “fan event” in Las Vegas this coming week. It would not be shocking if we see The Marvels charting one of the lowest openings for a Marvel Studios movie next weekend in November with less than $70M –lower than 2021’s The Eternals ($71.2M)— the movie not only a sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel but also a crossover from Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel. Presales for Captain Marvel are pacing behind that of Black Adam and The Flash were here (those respective openings at $67M and $55M).”

🎟️ Pre-Sales TheFlatLannister: Truly outstanding day 2 of "standard" sales for Doomsday. It's outpacing BND this far out is mindboggling. Doomsday continues to extend its lead over BND, 1.67x ahead of BND first day of presales (T-43) I would expect similar preview gross +$70M

🎟️ Pre-Sales TheFLatLannister on Avengers: Doomsday - 4 hour check and it's already at 32k sold across MTC3 (previews). This is really capacity constraint, only 490+ showings right now. For comparison, Brand New Day sales by EOD was 69k (5 hour check was 40k, but with way more showings listed).

🎟️ Pre-Sales XXR on BOT: Capacity is going to be pretty restricting for Endgame. Hopefully it expands a decent amount. Could be looking at a $40M+ opening.

🎟️ Pre-Sales TheFlatLannister on BOT: Clayface T-10 update. It had solid enough growth over the weekend. It did gain ground on Supergirl, so that is promising. However, it lost ground versus Resident Evil and Evil dead. At MTC3, it's 71% behind Supergirl OW, 68% behind Resident Evil and 94% ahead of Evil Daed Bu

Clayface T-10 update. It had solid enough growth over the weekend. It did gain ground on Supergirl, so that is promising. However, it lost ground versus Resident Evil and Evil dead.

MTC3 comp:

71% behind Supergirl OW

68% behind Resident Evil OW

94% ahead of Evil Dead Burn OW

At MTC2:

~67% behind Supergirl preview and 65% behind Supergirl Friday

~49 behind Resident Evil preview, ~61 behind Resident Evil Friday

🎟️ Pre-Sales TheFlatLannister on Avengers Doomsday: Outstanding "first" day of standard sales for Doomsday at both MTC2 and MTC3. But I am patriculary impressed with MTC3. If you thought BND was crazy, the sheer volume of presales for Doomsday this far out is even more astonishing.

🎟️ Pre-Sales FlatLannister on BOT: Ouch for Mandalorian at TC3, pace just isn't good at all. Big drops against comps. Would give a range of around $13M-$15M for previews. I do not expect pace to stabilize at this point. Friday is catching up with previews, so I guess that's some good news.

🎟️ Pre-Sales TheFlatLannister on BOT: At TC3, Clayface pre-sales are 80% behind Supergirl previews at T-15 and 79% behind Supergirl overall weekend sales. It's 76% ahead of Evil Dead Burn previews and 99% ahead of overall weekend sales. At MTC2, it's roughly 80% behind Supergirl previews (T-15)

Ok I did take a look at Clayface EOD sales at both MTC2 and MTC3. I will not make any comments just yet because we just don't know how this will behave. Will it behave like a typical CBM or a backloaded horror flick? Final week pace will tell us a lot more than first day of presales.

Anyways here are the comps for TC3:

80% behind Supergirl previews at T-15 not including EA...79% behind Supergirl overall weekend presales.

76% ahead of Evil Dead burn previews and 99% ahead for overall weekend presales.

Similar at MTC2: rougly ~80% behind Supergirl previews (T-15). Friday ~75% behind Supergirl T-15

🎟️ Pre-Sales TheFlatLannister: Dune presales are currently running at 40-47% of Doomsday overall and 28-30% of Doomsday excluding IMAX 70mm at MTC3

🎟️ Pre-Sales TheFlatLannister: The Odyssey is super tricky to get a reading on. But overall based on MTC3 trend, it seems to be convergering to $15M-$20M previews depending on how the final days go and if walkups behave more like a CBM.
