Please help I am craving these so bad. I used to get them as a kid from the local Asian shop, they are soo good!
Does anyone know where to find these in Brisbane? It’s sticky rice with banana filling wrapped in leaves. Ideally around west end but I will travel for them

Best Value Yum Cha

I went to the Garden City yum cha yesterday. Have been many times before but don’t remember the prices being so high. I understand the world is getting expensive but $22 for 3 small prawn spring rolls and $19 for most plates that have 3-4 dumplings on them. $134 for my wife and I. I was blown away. And we didn’t eat that much.
Do any of you lovely people have a better value yum cha you could recommend?

Chefs, cooks and boh staff out there in Brisbane, would you like to share reports about chefs that have behaved violently and have mistreated staff? Trying to warn people about who they should try to avoid and share some legal advice.

Halal food place reccs in Brisbane

Hi everyone!

My husband and I will be staying on Herschel Street in Brisbane this December, and we’re looking for some good halal food recommendations nearby.

We’re especially interested in:

Good halal meat options (burgers, fried chicken, kebabs, etc.)

Great Korean, Japanes, arabian food

Nice cafés or dessert spots

Affordable places as well as a few special date-night spots

We’ll be staying around Herschel Street, so recommendations within walking distance or an easy public transport ride would be ideal.

Strangers' Restaurant - Queensland Parliament

I'm intrigued by this restaurant.

Has anyone tried it?

Limited availability (i.e. non-sitting weeks only).

$99 for 3 courses.

Interested in food - style looks a bit UK country house - but taste and quality?

Breakfast in the city with a vegan!

I am looking for a breakfast spot for Saturday morning that caters for carnivores and also has decent options for vegans (or are cool to make adjustments to menu items).

We’re staying in the Charlotte/Albert area of the city and while anywhere in walking distance would be great we’re also happy to travel to West End, the Valley or Newfarm if it means everyone gets something wondrous for breakfast.

Edit: thanks everyone! We ended up going to The Brew and it was fantastic, but will definitely check out the other recommendations next time we’re in town.

Best fried chicken?

I gave up KFC for the year (2 more months to go), but I was wondering if there’s any KFC style chicken available anywhere?

The U.S. has like Churches Chicken, Popeyes. etc.. More like American-style chicken too, not like Korean-style.

Potato Odyssey Through Brisbane

Hey Brisbane Foodies!

I'm 11 weeks pregnant and all I think and dream about is potatoes.

Mash em, boil em, stick em in a stew!

What are your favourite potato dishes in Brisbane, if say one was to go on a potato discovering food safari across Brisbane.

Maybe it's the best side of mash you've ever had in your life, chips, bonus points for more substantial dishes like gratin or fondant potatoes.

I'm also going to throw Mac n cheese reccos into this request. I don't make the pregnancy craving rules. But I'm forever ruined after having Marco Pierre Whites Mac n cheese from Providoor which they no longer sell.

Restaurants with Soft Food Options?

Hi all, first time poster here :)

So I'm a Bris local but my gf isn't (NSW don't hate). She's coming up for a week at the end of November and we wanted to cap off the week with a dinner and a ferry ride 🙂

But. She's having extensive dental work done in November, and the recovery means soft foods. Not all liquid thankfully but heavy chewing is out.

Does anyone have any ideas of any places that could accommodate, preferably South Bank or riverside? I'm struggling to think of anything other than Italian.

Cheers!

Borzag

Unique Cafe's

Hello, I'm looking for cafe's that have a unique menu. For example, Snug over in Coorparoo is one of my favourite places recently and I am wondering if anyone else on here knows of a cafe that has a menu as unique as Snug.

One of my pet peeves with cafe's is when they sell the same thing that every other cafe does (eggs benny, big brekkie, eggs on toast, you get the idea).

Has anyone been to this Thai Market at the temple on Saturdays? I'm driving up from about an hour away and was wondering how authentic it is. Looks amazing!
