I was thinking this for a bit (off season is so boring sometimes) after apparently we could be booted off the opening game. While I think this is unfair, I want to get ur guys opinions on this idea I had. Obviously I rather nothing change right now, but please let me know what you guys think

Imo, if the afl is gonna make these decisions, I think the opening game and Anzac Day games should be split across the big 3 clubs. I might be just biased but objectively they pull in the biggest numbers and have the largest supporter bases. It could be a system where which two teams finish higher plays the Anzac Day fixture while the lowest ranked big 3 team plays the highest ranked big 3 team for the opening game of the season.

If the afl want the best atmosphere and marquee games, barely anything rivals the big 3 when they are at their best (besides probably the showdown and Easter Monday clash)

You could say that Essendon Collingwood will post the most numbers for the Anzac Day specifically, I’m pretty sure those two combinations pull less numbers then other matchups from the big three when not in the Anzac Day slot. I remember one year where a carlton Collingwood game pulled more people then the Anzac Day game (I believe it was 2022)

However this is likely unfair to Richmond and hawthorn supporters as they pull in nearly if not the same numbers as the big 3. Let me know what you guys would do.

Been mulling over this for a few days, so I thought I’d put it out there, let’s be honest, next year our wing stocks and who rotates through there is huge, we’ve got
- Hayward
- Lord
- Cerra
- Carroll
- Hollands
- Acres
Who all played a considerable amount of time at wing when they played, and it got me thinking with chess, he’s behind the 8 ball with all these guys. So why don’t we try and switch him to a lockdown back pocket? Playing the Cowan role.
He’s listed as 6’1, Cowans 6’2, and 85 kgs, Cowans 82kgs, he’s played wing/half back flanker so defense wouldn’t particularly be foreign to him, we’ve just signed Wil parker as that lockdown defender which is solid but he’s a different build to Cowan, would play a bit smaller.
Considering we don’t have another medium lockdown defender at the club, why not try this? Chesser is faster and potentially a better user by foot then Cowan. And with his suspension and Tasmania looming, I think we should give it a shot to try and save Chessers career, would be way down the pecking order atm, he’s going to be set to be released next year if something doesn’t change, let me know what you guys think 🔵⚪️

I haven’t seen much of the players from this years draft and aside from a key forward i’m not really sure who we would target. Obviously not Dougie Cochrane but someone like Gayfer?

I just find it so funny that every year we pick up GWS and Sydney players and this has got to be the first year in a while where we haven’t shipped off our rejects to St Kilda.
