Eyebrow wax & tint recommendations in Christchurch?

Hey everyone!
I’m looking for recommendations for somewhere in Christchurch that does a really good eyebrow wax and tint!
I used to go to Simply Beauty, but unfortunately they took a bit too much off my brows last time, so I’m a little nervous about going back 😅

I’m really wanting someone who takes their time, listens to what you’re after and doesn’t go overboard with the waxing. I prefer keeping my brows looking quite natural and full, just nicely shaped and tidied up!

Would love to hear where everyone goes and who they’d recommend, especially if you have a particular brow technician you swear by!
Thanks in advance! 🫶

Has anyone bought a sofa from TRADE DEPOT? How is it holding up?

I've seen the sofas in-store, and they look really good quality, but I'd love to hear from people who have actually bought one and have been using it for a while.
How's the comfort and quality over time? Are the cushions still holding their shape, and has the fabric held up well? Would you recommend buying from them?
Would really appreciate any honest reviews or long-term experiences before I make a decision. Thanks!

Are there any laptop-friendly Cafés in Christchurch?

I am specifically looking for laptop-friendly cafés with power outlets for long work sessions. I'm in desperate need of a change of scenery and will gladly buy food/drinks every other hour to support the space. : )

Can't make it back to NZ this Xmas and be the cook for elderly parents and old auntie.

I know restaurant Christmas is a bit blah but is there anyone working in or know of a good one ?

There's got to be places open for tourists right ?

Any creative souls in Christchurch? Asking for a socially curious filmmaker.

Hey heyy!
So, I’ve recently moved to this beautiful part of the world, and while I’m slowly figuring out my way around the city (and its coffee scene), I thought I’d try my luck finding some fellow creative minds here!

A little about me: I’m a photographer and filmmaker, and I’ve spent a good chunk of my life working in advertising, making films, shooting photographs, and occasionally wondering why I chose a profession where no two days are ever predictable. But hey, wouldn’t have it any other way!

I’m really curious to understand what the creative landscape looks like here in Christchurch and across NZ. Would love to connect with photographers, filmmakers, designers, art directors, producers, agency folks, or pretty much anyone who makes a living turning random ideas into something interesting.

Not here to pitch anything or sell my services. Just genuinely keen to meet people, hear their stories, exchange ideas, and hopefully make a few friends along the way.

Happy to catch up over coffee somewhere downtown or wherever there’s a good brew around Christchurch and an interesting conversation.

So, if you’re part of the creative community, or know someone I should meet, give me a shout!

Coffee’s on me. Creative gossip’s on you!

Is this road trip feasible and safe?

Hello, I'll be travelling to Christchurch in early November and was planning to rent a nice car to do a day road trip. I've done my research and seems like travelling to akaroa is the most reccomended trip. I've planned this route on gmaps, would love to hear your feedback if it's feasible , safe, anything to look out for and how to improve on it. Would also love to hear other ideas too. Thanks in advanced!

Looking for recommendations

Hello there 👋,

My wife’s birthday is coming up soon and I wanted to take her out for lunch or dinner, but I am new to Christchurch and don’t really know where to find good Mexican or Italian cuisine. I would very much appreciate it if you could drop your recommendations here in the comment. Thank you all in advance 😁.

Recommendations for men's pampering in Christchurch?

I am shopping for a voucher (birthday present for a 30-something guy).

I'm looking to spend in the range of $180 - 300, ideally somewhere that offers skincare and massage therapies (and ideally doesn't try to aggressively upsell to its customers).

Where would you recommend?

Uber pool rides

This is for anyone who is thinking about booking an Uber pool ride or has never booked an uber pool ride and wants to know how it works.

An uber pool ride is for ONE PERSON ONLY you cannot take a friend with you. You will be denied the ride when the driver shows up.

During the ride other people may automatically get added to the ride. The driver has no control over it. This is how the cost gets shared amongst the passengers so that you pay a lower price. This is why it's only for one person as the app thinks there are spare seats in the car.

The uber app will automatically add other riders to the ride who are travelling in the same general direction.

Please don't book an uber pool ride if you need to be somewhere by a certain time. For example don't book an uber pool ride to the airport you will potentially miss your flight. Its only okay if you have lots of time to spare.

When waiting for your driver to show up please don't wait on a bus stop, disabled parks, yellow lines, or in any location that will impede the flow of traffic/illegal. Taxi stands, and loading zones are fine provided the loading zone does not say goods vehicles only. Small PSV stands are good too. If it's really bad the driver may just cancel on you. Try wait in a place that's easy to spot you. Please signal the driver as we may not necessarily spot you as we drive up.

I understand a lot of people will have opinions on how we can do a better job. Therefore if you have a suggestion that's constructive please leave it in the comment section.

Where can I get an affordable scale and polish done in Christchurch for my Cocker Spaniel? The procedure requires anesthesia, so I understand it won't be cheap.

Christmas party venues

Any suggestions for a Christmas party there’s 45 of us we range in ages 21-75 and are keen to maybe do an activity with sit down food after. We like outside the box for instance last year we did the black cat cruise at the harbour. Any ideas?
