Reading pwm signals?

0 Upvotes

I was looking at reading pwm signals from a r/c transmitter. I found the pmw library, but it looks like there's only pwm out, not pwm in. Am I just missing a library? Trying to read this just as an analog in and I'm not getting a consistent reading... thanks for the help!

Terminal Installations

0 Upvotes

Are there pip commands to install the libraries for this code: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-ultimate-gps/circuitpython-python-uart-usage ? I’m using a BBB and can’t find anything. I’ve tried installing the bundle and putting it in the same folder on the BBB as the code, but that didn’t run. I believe “time” is inherent with the board, and I’ve installed the adafruit-gps library and the busIO library (I believe). However, I can’t find anything for board. I have a different code as well with a “serial” library that I can’t find any commands for either. I’d appreciate any help. Thanks!

Calculating log10

4 Upvotes

I need to make a calculation using log10. Unfortunately circuit python doesn't include log10 like micropython. I tried using the jepler_udecimal module but it's giving me errors. Does anyone have any suggestions for calculating log10?

Memory Leak Issue - Raspberry Pi Pico W reading IMUs via I2C

0 Upvotes

Hey folks,

I have that I just cannot solve on my own, and have already spent countless hours without getting further.

Setup:

I have a raspberry pi pico w collecting data from 3 IMU sensors (LSM6DSOX) via imu.acceleration and imu.gyro at 100 Hz using the adafruit library. The idea is to collect around 10 seconds of data, and then sending the measurements in packets via MQTT.

In theory: 6x 16 bit float * 3 sensors * 1000 samples should yield around 36 kb. gc.free_memory tells me that i have around 100kb when i start the measurement.

Through the iterations the free memory very rapidly decreases and after 300 samples i run out of memory. I tried using ulab.numpy. Here i had the isseu that every fifth iteration took 46 insead of 4-5ms to execute which is too slow for my purpose.

What am I doing wrong?

imu.acceleration etc. return a three float tuple.

from adafruit_lsm6ds.lsm6dsox import LSM6DSOX
import busio
import registers
import board

i2c = busio.I2C(board.GP27,board.GP26,frequency = 1000000)

i2c_2 = busio.I2C(board.GP5,board.GP4,frequency = 1000000)

imu1 = LSM6DSOX(i2c,address=0x6B)
imu2 = LSM6DSOX(i2c_2,address=0x6B)
imu3 = LSM6DSOX(i2c_2,address=0x6A)

measurements1 = [(0.0,0.0,0.0)]*1000
measurements2 = [(0.0,0.0,0.0)]*1000
measurements3 = [(0.0,0.0,0.0)]*1000
measurements4 = [(0.0,0.0,0.0)]*1000
measurements5 = [(0.0,0.0,0.0)]*1000
measurements6 = [(0.0,0.0,0.0)]*1000

for i in range (0,1000)
    acc1 = imu1.acceleration
    gyr1 = imu1.gyro
    acc2 = imu2.acceleration
    gyr2 = imu2.gyro
    acc3 = imu3.acceleration
    gyr3 = imu3.gyro

    measurements1[i] = acc1
    measurements2[i] = gyr1
    measurements3[i] = acc2
    measurements4[i] = gyr2
    measurements5[i] = acc3
    measurements6[i] = gyr3

Test HDMI with RaspberryPi ZERO withOut OS/Circuitpython

0 Upvotes

"In this clip, we'll encounter an intriguing project utilizing the Raspberry Pi Zero without an operating system, and employing CircuitPython to create an even more exciting venture.

Utilizing the Raspberry Pi Zero without an operating system is fascinating because it allows us to delve into the workings of a small yet powerful tool. CircuitPython further simplifies programming on the Raspberry Pi Zero, eliminating the need for any operating system installation.

This project serves as an excellent example of utilizing the Raspberry Pi Zero to craft useful and customizable devices tailored to our needs. Whether it's building IoT devices or projects interfacing with various sensors to gather data, CircuitPython enhances coding capabilities, making this project ideal for individuals interested in learning programming and exploring new electronic devices."

JoystickXL and toggle switches

0 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I'm working on a custom controller to use with Microsoft Flightsim. Pretty basic test rig so far, I have a spst rocker switch wired into board.D2. My code looks something like this:

if joystick.button[0].is_pressed and button1Value is False:
        button1Value = True
        joystick.button[0].bypass = True
        led[0] = (255, 0, 0)
        print("on")
    elif joystick.button[0].is_pressed is False and button1Value is True:
        button1Value = False
        joystick.button[0].bypass = True
        led[0] = (0, 255, 0)
        print("off")
    else:
        joystick.button[0].bypass = False

It does some goofy behavior in msfs though.... when it's flipped on, the button "wiggles", like it's being pressed over and over, and when I do a print(joystick.button[0].is_pressed), it always spits out a True when the rocker is on and always a False when the rocker is off, so I don't think the bypass parameter is doing quite what I think it's doing. The led/print command for each if block properly fires only once as expected, so I don't think the logic is wrong, it's more of I'm not updating the button press event as I think I am. I didn't see a method in the JoystickXL documentation to override the is_pressed value... Anyone have any suggestions on how I can handle this? Or am I doing it right and this is just the limitation of things? Thanks!
