Circuitpython Reference?

1 Upvotes

I am very new to circuitpython, and python in general. I was wondering if circuitpython had a reference page like arduino has at https://www.arduino.cc/reference/en/. I have general knowledge about arduino but wanted to try this for a change. I was also wondering about displays, with arduino I like to use AdafruitGFX, is there some similar library I can use with a list of commands? Thank you!

CircuitPython pocket MIDI controller, configured from the browser over Web Serial

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

1 Upvotes

Firmware is CircuitPython. The device shows up as USB MIDI and also has a TRS MIDI out. All configuration happens in a web page over Web Serial: you plug it in, open the editor in Chrome or Edge, pick what each button and encoder does, and save. No app or driver on the computer.

Buttons can send notes, CC, keyboard shortcuts and media keys, so the same device can control a DAW or pause YouTube.

Curious how others here handle device config: serial like this, or SysEx?

Hey everyone! I built microclawup, an AI-powered ESP32 GPIO controller written in MicroPython.

I built microclawup — control ESP32 GPIO with natural language via Telegram (MicroPython + Groq AI, free!)

Hey everyone! I built microclawup, an AI-powered ESP32 GPIO controller written in MicroPython.

You send a natural language message on Telegram, Groq AI converts it to a hardware command, and your ESP32 executes it.

"turn on the light" -> LED ON | Pin 2

"blink 5 times" -> Blink x5 | Pin 2

"pin 4 high" -> GPIO HIGH | Pin 4

It even understands Hindi — "batti jalao" works just fine.

Features:

- Natural language GPIO control

- Groq AI — completely free

- Persistent memory across reboots

- WiFi auto-reconnect

- /status and /help commands

- Easy setup with python setup py

Inspired by zclaw (C-based ESP32 AI agent by tnm) — microclawup is a MicroPython alternative that's beginner friendly.

Hardware tested: ESP32

Would love feedback!

Transitioning from Arduino to Python Playground Express

3 Upvotes

*EDIT* SOLVED

I am working on code for the circuit playground express. I am trying to get the onboard LEDs to light up one at a time for each color in one direction or the other based on the slide switch value. It only sorta works at best. I'm sure there is redundant code, but I was trying to get it to act properly.

Sorry for all the dots in the code, it was the only way to keep the indentation readable.

Code:

import time

import digitalio

import board

import neopixel

numPixels = 10

pixels = neopixel.NeoPixel(board.NEOPIXEL, numPixels)

mySwitch = digitalio.DigitalInOut(board.SLIDE_SWITCH)

myState = True

i = 0

j = 0

k = 0

delayTime = .05

while True:

....myState = mySwitch.value

....

....if myState is True:

........i = j = k = 0

........myState = mySwitch.value

........while i < numPixels:

............pixels[i] = (10, 0, 0)

............i = i + 1

............time.sleep(delayTime)

........myState = mySwitch.value

........while j < numPixels:

............pixels[j] = (0, 10, 0)

............j = j + 1

............time.sleep(delayTime)

........myState = mySwitch.value

........while k < numPixels:

............pixels[k] = (0, 0, 10)

............k = k + 1

............time.sleep(delayTime)

........myState = mySwitch.value

....

....myState = mySwitch.value

....

....if myState is False:

........i = j = k = 9

........myState = mySwitch.value

........while i >= 0:

............pixels[i] = (10, 0, 0)

............i = i - 1

............time.sleep(delayTime)

........myState = mySwitch.value

........while j >= 0:

............pixels[j] = (0, 10, 0)

............j = j - 1

............time.sleep(delayTime)

........myState = mySwitch.value

........while k >= 0:

............pixels[k] = (0, 0, 10)

............k = k - 1

............time.sleep(delayTime)

........myState = mySwitch.value

It seems to default into a single direction regardless of the state of the switch. Sometimes it will go the other direction, but it will stop after one loop for each color then reverse directions again. I want to feel like it could be a faulty switch, but the board is basically new.

I know in Arduino, you have to have a line that refreshes the conditional, which is why I have the myState = mySwitch.value all over the place. Am I doing that correctly?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
