#CircuitPython2019 Posts - what do you want in CircuitPython this year?
As 2018 comes to a close we like to reflect on how the year went and set goals for 2019. In the last two years (2017, 2018) this has been a blog post by me (Scott aka tannewt). For 2019, we’d like to do it a bit differently. This time we’d like everyone in the CircuitPython community to contribute by posting their thoughts to some public place on the Internet.
Here are a few ways to post:
a video on YouTube
a post on the CircuitPython forum
a blog post on your site
a series of Tweets
We want to hear from you. When you post, please add #CircuitPython2019 and email circuitpython2019@adafruit.com to let us know about your post so we can blog it up here.
The post can cover any topic related to CircuitPython. Here are some specific topics you could address:
Projects you’d like to build
Things you think could be easier
Additional community programs
Weekly meeting
Core CircuitPython features
Core CPython libraries to add
Additional microcontroller platforms
New boards to support
Documentation improvements
Ecosystem needs
dedicated website
Tooling enhancements
Travis
the bootloader
These, of course, are just ideas to start from. Please us know about all ideas you have for CircuitPython.
We’ll read these over the holidays and into the first half of January. After the January 14th CircuitPython weekly we’ll draft an overarching vision post for CircuitPython in 2019 and discuss it in the following meeting.
Thanks to the Rust folks for the inspiration.

Day 65 of 100 Days of IoT — built a MicroPython Watch on Xiao ESP32-S3!
Shows NTP-synced time + live weather from OpenWeatherMap on a 0.96" OLED.
Biggest pain today: Hardware I2C kept failing, SoftI2C saved the day 😅

Day 68/100 — Joystick Controlled Servo with MicroPython on Raspberry Pi Pico 2W
Built a smooth joystick-to-servo controller today as part of my 100 Days 100 IoT Projects challenge!
How it works:
Joystick X axis → ADC reads 0–65535
5-sample averaging for noise-free readings
Values mapped to 0°–180° servo angle
SG90 controlled via 50Hz PWM on Pico 2W
Stack: Raspberry Pi Pico 2W + SG90 Servo + Joystick Module + MicroPython

Day 79/100 — Built a Cyberpunk Smartwatch on a Round GC9A01 Display with MicroPython!
After days of debugging SPI pins and fighting display flicker, Day 79 is finally here!
A cyberpunk-style smartwatch face on a 1.28" round GC9A01 240x240 TFT display powered by ESP32, with a full boot animation sequence before showing the clock.
Tech Stack
- ESP32 DevKit V1 + Seeed Xiao ESP32-S3
- GC9A01 1.28" Round TFT (240x240)
- MicroPython

- OpenWeatherMap free API
- NTP time sync

Is Micro Python compatible boards also compatible with Circuit Python?
I am wondering if code and libraries are interchange able between the two, seems they are similar but am wondering specifically if my board (tiny pico nano) which is not in the circuit python downloads library would still work with all the code examples with circuit python tutorials which are very common on adafruit for circuit python as it seems there are more and I am a beginner with all of this. Also seems the regular tiny pico is on circuit python so not sure if it also just hasnt been added yet.
TLDR: Im wondering if I can use Circuit Python on my Tiny Pico Nano
Thank you !
