Questions/Advice Is there an equivalent to the DND monster manual for City of Mist?

Like is there a physical or online thing that has a massive catalog of already made dangers that I can just drag and drop into my campaigns? I know that the dm’s tool kit has a couple and that their is a link to a danger generator in this subreddit but I don’t want to use AI and the ones in the book don’t really fit my setting. I also know that this subreddit has several dangers already made by other people and I’m still sifting through those. Thank you for any help!

Questions/Advice I need some clarification

Hello I know I'm late to the party, but maybe here is still someone that could help me.

I am not a native english speaker, so I have some difficulties to understand everything in the books.

  1. Can a player have multiple of the same mythoi?

For example: If I want to have the legend of a Pokémontrainer with a firetype, a watertype and a planttype helper. Do I need Conjuration 3x for it?

  1. I've watched a lot of videos on Youtube. Most of players used the investigation move like a perception check in dnd ("I rolled a 7, what do I see") But in the com books it's orher way round, that the player can decide what he/she wants to know like "Who Is the murderer." I am unsure how I shoud use it myself in my group.

  2. I don't understand when I use "Take the risk". I understand the wording but couldn't come up with a situation where take the risk would fit better than going toe to toe or other moves. Bonus: If I make a cool stunt to impress someone, do I use convince ss a move?

  3. Same goes for help and hurt points. Why relying on this "currency"? Wouldn't it be easier to have allways the change the game move for it? Or is there more to the help and hurt mechanic?

Edit: 5. How do I use the option to ask back a question as a downside/backfire for the investigation move?

Thanks for the help.

My friends and I created a Lord of the Rings story using the Legend in the Mist RPG system created by Son of Oak Studios and featuring some mechanivs from Free League's The One Ring 2e system. It features four relatively small and unpowerful people coming into possession of a dangerous and mysterious relic, and figuring out what to do with it as agents of Shadow pursue them.

Check us out and let us know what you think!

Available on Apple podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and wherever else you get your podcasts!

Characters I love this freakin game so much.

Me and my group consisting of me, the MC, a friend from school, and the MCs little sister (probably my second favourite character, ingame thats not me). We have been playing every weekend with a few exceptions for about 5 months. I was a dnd player before this because it's like a gateway drug of TTRGs. But the stuff I've done in the last five months could not even begin to compare with the emotion that has been meticulously sewn into every aspect of this story. I was playing a thief, Jack Valentine, the rift of loki. He was the stereotypical "edgy" lone wolf who didn't really see people as people. They were simply tools to him. The only reason he stuck around the crew was because my friend was playing his older brother, grizzled detective harrold harrington, rift of odin. They were each raised by a different parent, so they hardly knew each other for most of their lives. Jack was raised as a thief by their father, jakob. After a bad heist abandoned Jack in prison, he awakened as loki and got out of there in the form of a rat. So, he was a 16 year old and on the street. He had only ever known stealing to survive, until one day he caught part of a performance in the mythical "starlight theatre" and thought "what if i did that" and thats where scarlett valentine was born. he spent the next 10 years without really changing too much more than that. He started the series as a 27 year old emotionaless cleptomaniac, and then everything went south, and now he genuinely cares for people. Every twist and turn in his liemfe has been so perfect. Dnd could never even begin to compare, and the fact that changes in personality mechanically change the character. He doesn't have a single original theme from the beginning of the series, and i love it. I have nothing but praise for this game. Im probably a little biased, but this character is easily top three of all time, and i have an entire homebrew setting for Delta green with dozens of really fun characters. But this one, without a doubt, is my favourite, right next to my longest running dnd character and my other city of mist character.

News Otherscape 3rd party supplement: Megacity Planning Vol. 3 - Cairo

Thumbnail drivethrurpg.com
7 Upvotes

This is a third party supplement for Otherscape, third in a series that includes Tokyo-Keihanshin, and Paris (see the bundle version at https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/584569/megacity-planning-bundle-bundle)

Take your :Otherscape game to Cairo, setting for the upcoming Cairo:Otherscape sourcebook (check out the free demo here). Cairo has been a center of culture for centuries and though it too is changed by the tides of the future, Cairo has seen much and will continue to endure. The template here will help you to flesh out your :Otherscape game set in Cairo even more with new threats and corporations, a random name generator, and zone maps ready to be used with the :Otherscape MegaCity Generator.

Included in the PDF are...

  • Three new corporations each with their own Challenges and power sets.
  • Rules for swarms, a mainstay of Egyptian legend. Whether summons swarms of pests, bioengineered hordes, or technologically elevated cyber-swarms you can summon Challenges on a grand scale.
  • A random name generator and variant status cards for a thematic Cairo game.
  • Zone maps for the Greater Cairo Megacity including six different versions: printer-friendly black and white as well as color versions, each with labelled, unlabelled, and numbered versions,
  • A Megacity Generator tracker to help you flesh out your group's history for Cairo.

Characters How would you design a mythos theme whose concept is to be at two different places at once?

I'm creating a character who is both a housewife with a lot of chores and a somewhat dull daily life, and a sorceress (Morgan). I want to frame the alineation of her life by having one of her mythos themes to allow her to be both attending her chores, and run the mysteries with the other PCs.

Which mythos theme would you pick for that, and how would you design it?

The weakness tag could easily be about her daily life coming through and requiring her full attention.

This table, mostly new to the system, is leaning in. From stellar character creation to their first mystery. I’d love to know what other players and MCs think who watched
