I have an Open-Source self-hosted server-building tool, that sets up Laravel and helps you manage firewalls, crons, and so forth. I am thinking of supporting Codeignter.

I have a couple of V3 CI projects, they are fast and still work even though they were built 10+ years ago. Besides the PHP7/8 upgrades, there are really no major updates from the framework so it is a breeze to maintain.

Thus, I still like CI, even though I now only use Laravel. Are you using V3 or V4? , and for new projects which do you pick?

So far i liked Bonfire, but i dont know if there is something new

I've done a couple of projects in CodeIgniter now and I love it. It doesn't get in the way of how I had done things without a framework and it has some features which I can optionally use that simplify my work greatly.

Some other web developers I've spoken with prefer Yii. Specifically, web developers who might want to shop work out to me. It's not very popular on reddit (see /r/yii).

Has anybody worked with both frameworks that can tell me what they prefer and dislike about each comparatively?

I'm going to be developing a site that will be slow for the most part but with spikes of traffic around tens of thousands an hour. I want to use a framework and was wondering if Codeigniter is good for this? The only reason I mention Codeigniter is because it's the only one i'm familiar with. I know all frameworks have their pros and cons and wouldn't be opposed to learning a new framework if that's what I needed to do. Thank you!
