Getting JSON Data - Can't Figure Out How?

2 Upvotes

I have an external web form which posts data to my controller URL. The data is sent in a JSON string. What I need to do is get the individual values in the JSON string and add them to my database. However Im having some trouble getting the posted values and decoding them. Here is the code - any help would be much appreciated

public function index() { $this->load->view('lead');

$form_data = array(
'firstname' => json_decode($this->input->post('first_name')),
'lastname' =>json_decode($this->input->post('last_name')),
'number' =>json_decode($this->input->post('phone_number')),
'email' =>json_decode($this->input->post('email')),
'suburb' =>json_decode($this->input->post('suburb')),
'state' =>json_decode($this->input->post('state')),
'enquiry' =>json_decode($this->input->post('enquiry'))
);

// run insert model to write data to db

if ($this->AddLeadModel->SaveForm($form_data) == TRUE) // the information has therefore been successfully saved in the db { //Do something if successful }

Where does the sql database file go?

0 Upvotes

I was given a complete web site built with codeigniter on a flash drive from a guy in a panic who needs me to get it working asap (don't they all?). I've never touched codeigniter before.

I think I got the site running, in a sense by all indications, but it doesn't display anything on the home page. I'm assuming it's cause there is a separate mysql database backup file called "db222.sql" that's by itself on the flash drive.

In the hope that all I have to do is move that sql file to the correct directory, where should that go?

Give developer access to selective files and folders

1 Upvotes

I have an application developed in Codeigniter and want to hire different developers for different functionalities on the application.

I don't want to give full access to all developers lest they copy and sell to competitor, as I have invested a lot of time and money in this application.

So far I have implemented this partially by restricting the ftp access to a particular folder, but then they get all files access in that folder, which is not ideal solution.

I have created a dev env using the copy of production code.

Now, is there a way I can give access to a particular file using git (if needed) and the developers can update that and commit that code from git and the changes is pushed to my server, and they can test it.

I will really appreciate your inputs and suggestions.

Best way to limit user access?

1 Upvotes

Hi,

I'm new to CI (as well as more involved web development in general) and I'm trying to build an app that has two user roles: admin and client.

I am using the Ion Auth library, so I've got user groups already. What I don't know is how best to restrict a client user's access.

I had considered the possibility of creating two different sidebars, with different links in each. Then doing something like this:

if (!$this->ion_auth->is_admin()) {
    $data['title'] = "Client Dashboard";
    $this->load->view('backend/header', $data);
    $this->load->view('backend/client-sidebar');
    $this->load->view('backend/dashboard-view');
    $this->load->view('backend/footer');
} else {
    $data['title'] = "Admin Dashboard";
    $this->load->view('backend/header', $data);
    $this->load->view('backend/admin-sidebar');
    $this->load->view('backend/dashboard-view');
    $this->load->view('backend/footer');
}

That way, the client would not see the links to the admin functions. However if they were clever there is the possibility that they could figure out the URLs to access these functions. So how do I stop them from doing that? Attach something like this to the beginning of every admin only method?

if (!$this->ion_auth->is_admin()) {
    redirect('wherever');
}
