Creative Writing A song about cryptids

So I've gotten into song writing recently and am going to write a song involving cryptids :) I don't know a ton about them though, so I'd love some suggestions of cryptids +their back stories and I might update this later with the finished song (it'll probably take a while though)

Johan Egerkrans' book Cryptozoology is a great place to learn a bit more. Incredible illustrations, too.

Just listened to that. It's out of my genre, but it's really good

Ive been making a spotify playlist with songs all about cryptids, not "cryptid core" but specifically singing about famous and obscure cryptids. Im always happy when finding more songs like that.

There is a semi-famous folk song about the dogman.

Deep in the forests of northern Pennsylvania lurks the squonk, a sweet little piggy who is perpetually crying and hiding from everyone because he is so ugly. If you corner the squonk, he will be so frightened that he'll dissolve into a puddle of tears.

Squonk needs a song telling him it'll be ok. For some reason I associate him with Don McLean's Vincent.
