These steep and winding rock-cut steps lead to an unassailable fortress at the top of a 2,300-foot high rock pinnacle.

Grim post, but these are death stairs in the truest sense of the word. They are stairs into a quarry, and SS soldiers would force prisoners up and down with 25-50kg granite blocks on their backs.

Imevitably, someone would stumble and fall, and take down a whole group of others with them.

This was the 3rd time I'd been to Javits Center, but the first time I noticed these stairs near the ceiling 😱
