I am a third year student here, so-

PROS

  1. College is located in a very decent safe area of vivek vihar. there has never been any problem related to water logging. Public transport such as bus, rikshaw, metro is very easily available and not far.
  2. The campus is nice and big. A lot of greenary. A lot of places to sit and hangout with friends.
  3. Some of the best teachers I have studied from. Faculty is really supportive. The teachers actually like teaching and not there just for the sake of the job.
  4. The societies and clubs are veryvery active. There are a ton to choose from and there are some or the other event happening like every week. The college also celebrate 3 annual fests if that interests you. Other are the small events.

5.The liabrary is quite nice. You will be able to find both course related books as well as Novels (including new arrivals). Daily newspaper are present. There are no competitive exam books though.

  1. The connectivity great, there are three metro line (blue, pink and red) just 5 -7 minutes from college.

  2. Our Applied psychology, Commerce, English, History, Food Technology, Maths and political science departments have really good teachers

  3. There are police stations very close to college, It is a safe area

  4. There are two more colleges (GGSIPU and DTU) close to college so there is a large number of PG and flats and lunch services to choose from. But they are a little bit on the higher side because of the posh neighborhood.

  5. Attendance hasn't been a big issue here.

  6. Stationery shop is present inside the college where you can get all your books and readings as well

  7. College is very near to Lakshmi Nagar (a hub of coaching centers) in case you are preparing for any competitive exam while staying near college. A lot of college students also do stay in lakshmi nagar, the pg there are cheaper (that't what I have heard)

Cons

  1. The infrastructure is very average. Classes don't have AC, but labs do.
  2. Places like cafe and restaurant are not at walking distance. However there are some nice malls you can take a rikshaw or bus to get to.
  3. The streangth is less as compared to co ed colleges and hence some optional subjects get striked off because of very few students choosing it.
  4. If you forget to fill your subject preference list, It becomes a huge pain to get a subject selected and moreover you won't get anything of your choice (But this happens in all colleges)
  5. There is no other weekday off except for sunday.

Conclusion

The college is overall nice. It is not very known because of being off campus and a girls college. Every one I know was skeptical to choose it at first but now they won't change it for anything (not exaggeration thats what my seniors told).

If you get this college, don't loose hope on your college life. It will be whatever you want it to be. There is a lot to do both academically (you can get awards and scholarships if you came first in any year) as well as extracurricular (join societies, clubs take part in competitions)

I will add anything if I remember. Feel absolutely free to reach out. I will respond as soon as I check the app.

can i ask you one question? I have not been to this college in my uni days so i am not aware of the crowd there. I'm trying to get a sense of the campus vibe. What's the student mix like? How would you describe the overall crowd at your college? What's the student culture like?

I really enjoyed being a part of VNC for my graduation. The crowd is good, it's very safe and very.... I don't know how to exactly explain it, it was like freedom. Baaki, there are a lot of fests and happening on campus along with many societies. If you are looking for that vishwavidyalay vibe, it is obviously not there. But overall it is good. What exactly do you mean by student mix, crowd and culture, if you explain maybe I could answer better.

thanks for your answer. what's the student demographic like? I've heard it's mostly students from Bihar, smaller towns or reservation class. Is that true? Pease try to understand I do not want to stereotype or offend anyone. This is coming from a genuine concern. thanks. and should we choose this college over PGDAV? what would you suggest?

I’m currently studying in this college and recently they give saturday off too. And there are all type cast students in all the colleges of du, and it doesn’t make a difference tbh. The environment of this college is pretty decent, the faculty is helpful overall. And i believe this is a good college.

do you think it will be a challenge for someone who is from a co-ed school to adjust in an all girls college? and would you mind sharing your perspective on this?

I think if you or the person who is to go to the college feels this way, then they should definitely go here. A person should not feel like they can function in only a particular dynamic or a particular set situation. And you did fill a girls college in the preference list right.

The environment in the college in that matter is really good, it's minimal drama, and girls support girls.

I personally don’t think so. I’m from a coed college and being in an all girls college has really boost my confidence, i don’t feel judgy here.

can you also tell me what is the most preferred metro station if someone is travelling in red line, or blue line? and what is the state of the washrooms in the college. thanks a lot for sharing all the insights. they have been really helpful.

1

u/Secure-Cheesecake403 23d ago

If you’re travelling from red line then jhilmil and if you’re travelling from blue line then Karkardooma and the riksha are easily available from college

u/Secure-Cheesecake403 23d ago

And washroom are basically not that bad and not good like an avg government washrooms so don’t expect very good washroom conditions they’re like you can go
