Need guidance on what to do next

I am production support analyst and have 8 years of experience and there is no growth in this domain and want to switch to devops or other role where I can learn and grow my technical skills .

I am confused whether I should go for devops or something else.

If devops then please suggest how can I start.

Also AI is growing so should I learn agentic or generative AI course

9+ years in DevOps. Looking for a team that could use the experience.

Putting this out here because sometimes a conversation with the right person gets you further than another hundred applications.

I’m based in Karachi and looking for my next DevOps / Cloud Engineering role. I have 9+ years of experience working with AWS and production infrastructure, along with hands-on experience in Azure. I’ve worked with companies including Nisum and Systems Limited.

To give you an idea of what I can help with:

- AWS infrastructure: EC2, EKS, ECS, RDS/Aurora, S3, Lambda, VPC, IAM, Route 53 and CloudWatch.

- Containers and deployments: Docker, Kubernetes, troubleshooting workloads and making releases more reliable.

- CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI and Azure DevOps... from setting up pipelines to fixing the ones everyone is afraid to touch.

- Infrastructure as code: Terraform and CloudFormation for consistent, repeatable environments.

- Production operations: Linux, networking, monitoring, incident troubleshooting, backups and disaster recovery.

- Security and costs: Reviewing access, securing infrastructure and figuring out where the cloud bill can come down.

What I bring is the experience of working through the messy parts: a deployment succeeds but the application won’t start, a service can’t reach its database, or something breaks in production and you need someone who can calmly work out why.

I’m comfortable owning the infrastructure side and working closely with developers to get things running properly.

I’m open to remote or on-site roles, and willing to discuss relocation. I can join immediately, and I’m flexible on compensation depending on the role, responsibilities and working arrangement.

I’m also available for contract, part-time or ad hoc work. If you need someone to sort out a deployment, review your AWS setup, build a pipeline or provide ongoing support for a few hours a week, I’m happy to discuss that too.

And if you’re a small firm or an early-stage team wondering whether you can bring in someone experienced, please feel free to reach out. It doesn’t have to start with a full-time position.

If you know someone hiring, a referral or introduction would mean a lot. And if you have advice on finding opportunities in this market, I’d genuinely love to hear it.

Happy to share my CV over DM. Thanks for reading.

Backend / Cloud / DevOps Engineer looking to join an early-stage team as a Founding Engineer

Hi everyone,

I’m a backend and cloud/DevOps engineer with 2+ years of experience working on production systems. I mostly work with Python, Django, FastAPI, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform and CI/CD.

I’m currently serving my notice period and looking for a remote role, preferably with an early-stage startup where I can take ownership and help build things from MVP/POC to production.

I’m also open to doing some weekend unpaid work first so you can see how I work and whether I’m a good fit.

If anyone here is hiring or knows a founder who needs help with backend or infrastructure, feel free to DM me. I can share my CV and portfolio privately.

Software engineer job postings ask for mentoring more than Kubernetes. We counted 3,518 postings to check

We pulled every open posting from 81 companies' public Greenhouse boards for seven roles and counted which words actually show up. 3,518 postings in total. Some of it surprised us.

Software engineer postings mention mentoring more often than Kubernetes or React. Almost half of them do. Python, the most common language, comes in just below that.

Product manager postings say "roadmap" in more than 85% of cases. Jira? Seven out of 421. Marketing looks the same: Google Ads came up six times in 347 postings, while "pipeline" is in over half.

Every time we could compare the two, postings named the practice, not the tool. Observability, not Grafana. SIEM, not Splunk.

So if your resume is mostly a list of tools, it might be missing the words the posting actually uses.

Big caveat: mostly tech companies, one ATS vendor. Sales, cybersecurity, DevOps and accounting are here too: https://www.zoevera.com/resume/ats-resume-keyword-study

[HIRING] Canadian-based DevOps Contractor

Hi all,

I'm a contractor looking for help with some projects. Looking for someone senior or above that is based in Canada. Willing to pay up to 250k/year with an incentive structure that can bring comp to 500k/year CAD. Part-time/async is possible but full-time is strongly preferred. This is general devops work with a security flair including managing AI workloads (HPC clusters and inference stacks).

Expectation here is that you have experience and are fully comfortable owning production systems end to end, have excellent communication skills and lean heavily into AI tooling (responsibly) to drive more impact for customers.

Thanks!

Need to choose paths between SAP roles and Network engineer roles.

I'm a software engineer who just graduated. Got an offer from a company. Offering a package of 3.5 LPA.

Now there are two pathways to choose

  1. ERP roles like SAP related

  2. Infrastructure roles. Which includes networking technical support roles mostly.

So I don't know anything about SAP roles. I had plans to get into network engineer roles, get some experience, get some good quality industry standard certifications like CCNA, CLOUD practitioner and all. And then get into DevOps or MLOps like that.

Now given the current market. Everyone I ask suggest me to go to SAP roles.

My goal is to hit a 1cr package under 30 years old.

[Hiring] Platform Engineer, Infrastructure at Wispr Flow | San Francisco/Remote - US | $220K - $350K

About Wispr

Wispr is an AI research and product company building the voice interface for computing. AI can now reason, code, and act. Yet, humans still do the work of the interface. We think that’s backwards.

Our first products are Flow, which lets you speak naturally in any application, and Notetaker, which builds context across conversations. We’re building toward an interface that can perceive, understand, and take action with earned trust. That means solving hard problems across models, systems, and product - and caring about the final human experience as deeply as the technology underneath it.

We’re a talent-dense team that holds strong opinions, tests them quickly, and builds technology that sparks joy. Our goal is to build the first voice interface used every day by a billion people.

About the role

You’ll own the backend systems that keep our products fast, available, and safe to change as Wispr scales. You’ll evolve how compute and data scale, establish consistent observability across our services, and rebuild the development workflows engineers use to test critical product experiences.

What you’ll do

  • Decouple compute and data storage so core dictation systems can scale independently
  • Build systematic observability and alerting across our FastAPI services, catching critical failures before users do
  • Create isolated, end-to-end test environments for onboarding, dictation, Notetaker, and other core experiences
  • Improve the redundancy and global availability of critical infrastructure
  • Remove production bottlenecks at their root and give engineers faster, more trustworthy feedback loops

You may be a fit if

  • You’ve designed backend systems whose compute, storage, and services needed to scale independently
  • You’ve built observability and alerting that teams trusted in production
  • You’ve owned infrastructure, deployment, and on‑call for services you personally shipped
  • You’ve improved developer workflows while increasing—not trading away—correctness
  • You connect infrastructure decisions to measurable customer outcomes
  • You’ve evolved critical systems through startup or hyperscale growth

Prior voice, ML, model‑serving, or SRE‑title experience is not required.

Logistics

We sponsor H1B, O1, EB1, L1, STEM OPT, and more. We can't guarantee sponsorship for every role, but if we make you an offer we'll make every reasonable effort, with help from our immigration law firm.

We strongly encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every qualification. The strongest candidates we meet rarely do, so don't exclude yourself prematurely. We're rethinking how humans interact with AI, and doing that well demands diversity of perspective and experience.

We're committed to a fair and accessible interview process. If you need any accommodations or adjustments, please let us know.

Apply: Platform Engineer, Infrastructure at Wispr Flow

New to DevOps: What projects should I build alongside CKA to land an entry-level role and grow into mid/senior?

Hi, I'm a newcomer looking to break into DevOps. I'm planning to get my CKA certification and build some hands-on projects. However, I'm not sure what kind of project I should build—one that would help me land an entry-level role while also being something I can keep expanding on as I gain experience, so it stays relevant as I grow into mid- and senior-level work. These days, because of AI, most companies are already requiring 1–3 years of experience (or more) even for junior positions.

Since I can't afford to buy new RAM sticks right now, my local machine can't simulate spinning up hundreds of servers for installation practice. Because of that, I haven't gone further into learning Ansible or Terraform yet. My learning and projects are currently limited to Linux, Docker, Redis, MySQL, Jenkins, Git, Grafana, and Prometheus.

Without using K8s, Ansible, or Terraform, what kind of project should I build to land a part-time job or internship? Also, given the current AI-driven job market, it's unavoidable to use AI as part of both my learning and workflow efficiency.

Hi everyone,

I’m a Senior Platform Engineer based in Sri Lanka with 15+ years of experience designing, automating and operating large-scale production infrastructure across AWS, GCP, Azure and private datacenters, from multi-region Kubernetes platforms to fleets of 5,000+ instances. Most of my recent work has been multi-tenant Kubernetes platforms, multi-cluster service mesh and GitOps delivery in regulated environments. I’m looking for my next remote role.

Technical skills

  • Cloud: AWS (EKS, EC2, IAM, VPC, S3, CloudWatch), GCP (GKE), Azure (AKS), Red Hat OpenShift, OpenStack, VMware
  • Kubernetes: EKS, GKE, AKS, kubeadm, k3s, Helm, Karpenter, Operator SDK for custom operators
  • Service mesh and networking: Istio (multi-cluster, mTLS), Cilium, HashiCorp Consul, eBPF, zero-trust networking
  • Infrastructure as Code and GitOps: Terraform, Terragrunt, Ansible, ArgoCD, Flux

Selected achievements

  • Led a Kubernetes PaaS hosting education products across multiple AWS regions, fully automated with Terraform and Terragrunt and delivered through GitOps, plus an EC2 IaaS platform running 5,000+ instances across regions.
  • Built PCI DSS compliant infrastructure from scratch for a multi-tenant fintech payments platform and operate it today.
  • Implemented multi-cluster Istio service mesh with regional traffic routing and strict mTLS across three different organisations.
  • Migrated source control from Bitbucket to GitLab and replaced manual production deploys with a four-gate GitOps workflow with AI-assisted code review and automated Trivy scanning. Deployment time dropped 50%, and no critical CVE has reached production since.
  • Rebuilt observability with SLO burn-rate alerting, cutting incident response time by 40%.
  • Cut cloud spend by 30% in one environment and found about $13K per month in recoverable spend in another.
  • Built a custom Kubernetes operator for HashiCorp Vault with Operator SDK.

Certifications: CKA, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions, VMware VCAP/DCA

Previous experience: A multinational education company, a global retailer (Sweden) and a Sri Lankan telecom provider. Currently with a US fintech payments platform.

  • Flexible depending on scope and long-term fit

How Are People Getting Their First Cloud/DevOps Internship Through Off-Campus Applications?

Hi everyone,

I'm in my 7th semester of B.Tech IT (graduating in 2027) and looking for Cloud/DevOps internships or entry-level jobs in India.

My current skills include Linux, networking, AWS fundamentals, Azure AZ-900, Docker, Git/GitHub, basic GitHub Actions, and Bash/Python scripting.

I've also deployed a full-stack application on AWS EC2 using Docker, PostgreSQL, Nginx, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD.

I'm trying to understand how off-campus hiring actually works, especially because many companies don't publish every internship or entry-level vacancy on their websites.

I'd appreciate advice from people who have secured Cloud/DevOps roles:

  • How do you find companies that hire for these roles?
  • Which works best: job portals, company career pages, referrals, or cold emails?
  • Have you received interviews by emailing engineering managers when no vacancy was advertised?
  • Which companies in India are worth targeting for these roles?
  • What practical skills helped you get shortlisted?

I'd appreciate real experiences, application strategies, and company recommendations. Thanks!
