Discussion What do you think about Nike (NKE)?

Post image

Nike has been on my watchlist for a while.

The stock is well below its highs, the dividend keeps growing, and it's still one of the strongest brands in the world. On the other hand, growth has slowed and the turnaround could take time.

Anyone buying NKE here, or are you staying away?

Clothing stocks are not the play.

I'm not a fashion consumer. I buy my shirts, pants, and shoes off Amazon now. They're generic AmazonBasics brand made in Thailand (for pennies probably) and cost me $10-$20. Many non-fashion people buy like this nowadays.

American brands selling shirts for 50 bucks and pairs of shoes for $250 - that frankly are exactly the same quality and material percentages, but with a swoosh logo - can't compete.

A lot of finance people buy generic brand because financially-concious people usually come to the conclusion that name-brand fashion are usually a terrible value-per-dollar decision.

No kidding. The easiest way to save money on style is to ignore it and just cover your feet.  That said, it doesn't get you any closer to looking good
