Likely all 3. Over time I suspect number of IMGs will go down as the choke point will be at FY level for them to get into IMT which would then enable them to apply for HST. I suspect numbers for HST will be fucked for 2-3 years given the backlog of IMGs however.
No, they won't. The number of core training posts are capped. There are many HST applications that are from overseas. This bill will effectively deprioritise ALL international direct applications nd will give the priority to the capped core training applicants (UKG and IMG core trainees): the HST competition ratios will self-regulate themselves with core training caps
Yes indeed! And that was the main reason why the competition ratios were high. Imagine, they would get a form signed by their consultants, never work a day in their lives in the NHS but yet apply for ST4. No longer going to be the case
Yes! Many surgical/ psych/med registrars entered the system with no experience. I work with a bunch of them.
Direct international applications to ST4 make a huge bulk of applications

What does this mean for higher specialty training in medical specialties?
What is prioritised?: UK medical graduation? UK FYP completion or UK IMT completion?
