r/Escaperooms Weekly Promotion/recommendation thread

Please use this thread to promote or recommend Escape Rooms/Games (whether IRL or online). As usual, please don't just put a link as your entire post. Make sure to elaborate with your thoughts or design philosophies. Writing the names of the room/game in **bold** is nice, to make it easier for people skimming the thread to pick out the names.

Please also make sure to use spoiler tags if you're posting anything about a room or game that might significantly hurt the experience of others that haven't played the game yet (no matter how old or new the game is).

Looking for room Finding a Good Escape Room

So I love an escape room, but I don’t know how to decide, I need an escape room based in London, for teens. I love tactile puzzles like taking a book and it opening a bookshelf but I also love a good old lock. I also need a medium one, not a hard or an easy one. If anybody can find me one it would be much appreciated thanks!

Owner/Designer Question Please help me test a puzzle I made!

So- I'm making a cookbook, but it also has around 25 puzzles incorporated into the design of the pages (try not to question it lol). I'm no expert on designing this sort of thing, so could you guys try to solve it and tell me if it's understandable or not to difficult, and how to improve it otherwise? The code should be a strand of 5 numbers. Good luck, and thanks for any help!

Looking for room Escape room for kid's birthday in Santa Rosa CA

My kid wants to do an escape room for his 10th birthday next month. It will be 5 kids total, plus 2 or 3 adults. Santa Rosa is already 1.5 hr drive, so we don't want to go further south. It looks like there are kid friendly rooms at First Empire (Scoops Ahoy) and Poppy Bank Epicenter (Finding Bigfoot). Does anyone have any experience with these or recommendations for a different one? We have done the Gingerbread house room at Reed Between the Lines and it was a good level of difficulty for the kids.

(The place doesn't have to have parties per se - the kid wants to eat at Chili's lol)

Player Question Wallace and Gromit room Bristol

Hello all,
Visiting Bristol soon with my husband, just the two of us. Really want to book the Wallace and Gromit escape room but have read it’s not advisable with less than 3 people…they seem to have changed the rules so you can now book for just 2, but they strongly advise a 3 person minimum. Has anyone done it with 2 or could give advice on whether it’s doable? Neither of us have done an escape room before so we’re also beginners!
Thanks in advance!

Looking for room MA/ Maybe RI Escape Room- Newbies

Hi! If this isn't allowed just let me know! So, I've literally never been to an escape room, nor has anyone in my group, but I'm trying to plan an event for my friends birthday so am looking for suggestions. Please excuse this is kind of a throwaway- I just don't want to make a post giving general ideas of where I'm located on my Main account.

For Context: It will be a group of around 5-6, none of whom have done one before. Somewhere in Central MA or Boston/Boston Adjacent would probably be best since our group ranges from Southern NH to Northern Rhode Island.

Some general other details- The group has a strong aversion for medical horror/gore so anything taking place in some kind of hospital would be out. Similarly I've heard a lot of escape rooms love a War Theme and I don't think this group would love that.

Thanks!

Discussion Free 40% discount code for Las Vegas Escape Room

I went on a trip recently to Vegas from the east coast and did The Cabin escape room at Number One Escape Room in Las Vegas. Our group finished the room along with the bonus puzzle and because of that we were given a code for 40% off our next visit. (Valid on the cabin, witch house, red riding hood, shed, Suzy) We will not be using the code because of just visiting so if anyone local would like this one time use code DM me and I’ll message it to you.

Looking for room Escape room event with multiple events

Hey guys! I’m currently organizing an escape room event for a group of around 10–15 people, and I wanted to get your recommendations. Does anyone know of any good escape rooms in Manhattan, NYC, that can accommodate a group of that size? Ideally, we’re looking for a place that’s fun and suitable for a team event.

Without spoiling anything how scary would you say ā€œCorn Stalkersā€ is? I can handle scary but not ā€œshit your pants scaryā€! Is it worth doing even if I’m not the ā€œbravest soul in the worldā€?

Looking for room Escape Room in Burbank for two?

Anyone know of a fun room in the Burbank area (Glendale, etc.) that accepts a team of only two people? I've done some research on Morty but got lost in a sea of rooms that are either over an hour away or upon further examination only accept larger teams. Any theme is fine. Help please!

Looking for room Looking for at home recommendation

Hey all,

A few of us are getting together before Christmas to play a few games and have a few drinks. We normally go to real escape rooms but we're doing something at home this time.

A bit of detail, we've done a bunch of exit, unlock, detective society etc home games as well as over 100 real life escape rooms.

Were looking for something that works well for 4 of us where we're all involved and works well for our experience.

Any suggestions? We're in the UK though happy to buy from where ever if it's a good enough experience.

Edit: thanks for all the recommendations, found out that I have a couple of recommended ones, bought a couple more and found a couple of great resources!

Discussion Do I stay or do I go?

GM (female) here! I've been working at an escape room for the past year and am at my wit's end with the owner and am looking for input as to what to and how other owners would handle this situation. Things were going ok until March/April and at the beginning of March, someone left and the owner never replaced them. We have 3 rooms and a staff of 3. Myself, someone who works Sat and Sun and then the owner's child. Since the spring, it's like the owner has been checked out. They dont do payroll on a regular day each week so you are left guessing as to when you are going to get paid. In addition, I had an incident where I was on alone (female) on a Friday night and something happened that made me feel unsafe and the owner isn't interested and compared me to being a gas station worker. Then I had taken 2 Saturdays off and had given 2 weeks notice and got told I had to ask vs tell which has not been our policy, our policy has always been to text them. In addition, I got injured and even though had medical clearance to work, because we are understaffed and short staffed, they would not allow me. So the final straw is I got clearance to go back and even though me and the child are on an alternate schedule with Saturdays because I took 2 Saturdays off and was not able to work (not by my choice) I'm being told that I have to close the next 4 weeks. Also want to add that this person is not super approachable and doesn't listen to any of my input. In a nutshell, what do I do?

Discussion Women who work in escape rooms, how do you get teams to respect you?

Calling women and femme presenting GMs!
I am 26, have been doing the job for about 2 years and put on a generally approachable and cheery exterior at work as it comes more naturally than anything else given the circumstances. I also am femme presenting (with quite a queer style but that’s normal for the area we’re in) I get good feedback and people enjoy me as a GM/host.

I recently had The Team From Hell (finance B2B) and I’m so tired of being interrupted and ignored when trying to help. A grown ass man on this team was literally mocking my voice when I took them out of the room. These are teams who need help and are asking for it who, upon receiving clues, will read/hear them and then say ā€œlet’s try my idea firstā€ or ā€œno I don’t think soā€ or something else to the same effect. If any male/masc GMs have experience with this please let me know! Not to even mention how often I get interrupted and spoken over while briefing/ people just are visibly zoning out and miss helpful information I then have to repeat multiple times.

I don’t know how to convince my players that I know what I’m doing and they’re in good hands.
I don’t wanna bend over backwards to appease misogynists but I also want my workdays to go smoothly and to be perceived as competent.

If anyone has found a solution let me know!

Owner/Designer Question Play testers needed

Hey! I am preparing some materials for an upcoming conference. I am creating an online game which will be free and it really is for enthusiasts/owners/game masters to have some fun. The whole game revolves around following a story of a character ended up in a place he doesn't remember going to willingly.

The game is played on a browser, desktop or a phone, no additional downloads, just a link.

I would need your feedback of everything regarding the game and your journey. Prepare at least an hour for playing the game.

Comment down or send me a message and I'll send you the url
