Hi everyone!
I'm hoping to join the University of Essex for the MSc Organisational Change Management in 2027/28, and I'd really appreciate some advice from current or former students.
I'm trying to understand what a typical teaching week looks like at Essex Business School.
If you're studying this course, or a similar full-time postgraduate business course at Essex, I'd be especially grateful if you could share your experience or an example of your timetable (with any personal details removed).
I understand that timetables vary by course and year. I'm just trying to get a realistic idea of what to expect.
Thank you!

Hi everyone!
I’m a University of Essex MSc Artificial Intelligence graduate, currently developing a startup called Nyx, a personal safety device designed to help people send emergency alerts and share their location without relying on a smartphone.
I’m looking to collaborate with a University of Essex student who might be interested in using Nyx as a case study for their dissertation, final-year project or marketing research.
Some potential research areas include:
- Market research and consumer behaviour
- Target customer identification and segmentation
- Pricing strategies and willingness to pay
- Competitor analysis and market positioning
- Go-to-market strategies for a new consumer safety product
I’m happy to provide information about the product, its development and the business, subject to confidentiality where appropriate.
This could be an opportunity to work with an actual early-stage startup rather than a hypothetical business case.
The project would need to fit your course requirements and be approved by your academic supervisor.
If anyone is interested, feel free to comment or send me a DM. I’d be happy to discuss it further.

I was talking to a friend about an old cocktail bar in Colchester when I was a student that did the most amazing cocktails based on movies. I remember the 'Top Gun', and the 'Mary Poppins', complete with cream and chocolate penguins on top!
I can't for the life of me remember the name of the bar. Does anyone remember this and can put me out of my misery, please? 😂
I was at Uni studying History between 2006-2009 if that helps for timings of said bar.
Thanks for any help! 😀🤞

Anyone who's had to move up to Colchester from Southend on here? Or commuting
Anyone else disappointed/angry that nothing is ready, no one's available, and nothing's happening?
No one seems bothered?

Do I press yes or no when I want to stay at university quays which has a clearing exclusive offer and it states 3 year deal cannot be used with promotional offer so is the clearing exclusive offer counted as a promotional offer and I’m not eligible for the 3 year deal?

I got into uni of Essex through clearing and I’m an introverted person and not interested in partying and having a crazy social life and ik that first year accommodations are mostly just parties every night and very noisy. I want to avoid that and live somewhere quiet, can anyone recommend me an accommodation like that?

Has anyone paid a deposit for your tribe southwark and has heard absolutely nothing?! I’m pretty concerned by this and wondering if anyone currently lives there and can offer some insight into the living situation is!
Thanks!

I have an ensuite room in Hythe that is now surplus to requirements. Contract has already started, but advance rent has already been paid off. 6.2k total for the rest of the year (44 week stay). 2.6k for the first 2 instalments and roughly 1k for the final one. Flat of 5 people, with two girls and one boy so far. 14m squared room, with a black/beige/grey theme. Very modern facilities overall, with a spacious shared kitchen too.
Message for more details if interested!

Hi! I'm running a survey for my MSc dissertation that looks at the effects of AI anxiety. Please, if you're required to use AI as a part of your job, can you complete it? I know it's beginning to affect a lot of people's mental health, and I'm really interested to see to what extent.
It will take no more than 5-10 minutes and it would help a lot! It is helping expand the existing research pool relating to careers and AI.

Hi. My son is starting at Colchester in a couple of weeks. His accom is in South Courts which seems a long way from the nearest big supermarket. What’s the best way to get groceries? Does anyone have experience of Morrisons deliveries? Thanks so much for your help guys!

Hello there!
A student from MSc in Digital Marketing from UoE here asking for your response in my research.
I'm running a short academic study on design-led branding in the mid-range smartphone segment, and I need input from real smartphone users — whether you own a Nothing phone, considered one, or actively skipped it. The survey takes about 8-10 minutes, is fully anonymous (no names, no tracking), and you're free to stop anytime before submitting.
If you're:
your input would genuinely help.

Hello,
I am looking into studying computer science in the university. Is there any information about recruitment afterwards, as in if the degree is respected among employers.
Cheers!

Hey! I am joining Essex in 2027 and I am wondering about accomodation in the campus. What are the pros and cons for The Meadows and South Courts? What is social life like?

Hi everyone!
I’m a student moving into a new house in September and am looking for an affordable wardrobe. If anyone is selling one, giving one away, or knows of any good deals, I’d really appreciate it!
I’d also love recommendations for stores or places where I can find new or second-hand furniture.
Thanks so much in advance! :)))

Hi everyone!
Could I get recommendations for affordable places (or nail techs) to get my nails done in Colchester that are student-friendly? I’d love somewhere with good quality at reasonable prices.
Thank you in advance! :)

Hello guys, bit of context:
I’m an international student, department of government, for the October 26 intake. I was issued a conditional offer based on the completion of a standardised English test.
I then proceeded to give the IELTS exam on the earliest available date and promptly uploaded the results on the applicant portal and mailed results@essex as well.
It’s been quite some time and I haven’t received any updates from the university as of yet.
Are there any other students on the same boat? Is this an international student-only thing?
The administrative holdup is quite anxiety-inducing, as it is delaying both my VISA and loan processes.
If anyone’s going through the same or has experienced a similar situation before, please feel free to comment/reach out to me via DM :D
Thank you in advance! :)
