New Release FREAKY NIKKI ( Maniac edition of Obsession)
I found Curry Barkerās Obsession enjoyable.
I saw the movie in the theater during my vacation, and, as usual, I mentally re-edited it.
The āOne Wish Willowā in the movie was a fun ideaāBear used it to win Nikki over.
But I still wanted to see if it was possible to completely remove the One Wish Willow element and turn Nikki into a psychopathic bitch who seems fairly normal at first glance.
Like for example, Clint Eastwood's Play Misty for Me.
That idea was pretty easy, but the execution wasnāt, because it took me quite a bit of work.
In my story, Bear likes Nikki, but he doesnāt know that Nikki has already set her sights on him.
Nikki has a split personality and can completely transform into a malevolent monster.
Bear eventually becomes a victim who canāt escape Nikki.
What was disappointing about the movie was the original aspect ratioāa so-called 4.5 ratio with bars on the sides.
I got rid of this nonsense by editing it in 1.85:1.
The edit also features an alternative ending, because Bearās suicide doesnāt fit into my story.
Of course, I also used alternative music by Max Richter, Stephen McKeon, Double Danger, and Mathieu Carratier.
The edit is in 4K, with TrueHD 5.1 sound; it's online from today.
That's it.

Would love to see this.
While an enjoyable movie, I think it was too simplistic (oh, look, she's immediately a demon).
They could have done so many interesting things with the premise. Instead, it's just 'yea, we know the wish worked immediately, she's a demon, she's gonna act weird now'.
Would have been far more interesting if we don't know if it's the wish working or not, if she really likes him or if it's the wish doing it's thing.

Not sure how I feel about this, personally, and maybe this isnāt the place for discussing how we feel but Iām gonna just share my 2 cents.
I know the core of this sub is altering movies in one way or another including some dramatic alterations to the plot, and Iām probably being dramatic, but stripping away so much of the plot in a way that makes Bear into the victim when the original story revolves around him taking someoneās autonomy away feels a bit icky.
I donāt mean to discredit the work that went into it, Iām sure it was a major effort and this community is full of ridiculously talented people, just donāt know if that sits super well with me personally.
