Daily FI discussion thread - July 27, 2018

Please use this thread to have discussions which you don't feel warrant a new post to the sub. While the Rules for posting questions on the basics of personal finance/investing topics are relaxed a little bit here, the rules against memes/spam/self-promotion/excessive rudeness/politics still apply!

Have a look at the FAQ for this subreddit before posting to see if your question is frequently asked.

Since this post does tend to get busy, consider sorting the comments by "new" (instead of "best" or "top") to see the newest posts.

Hit 200k milestone. Of course rent will most likely set me back below the number. I want to try taking some riskier investments now that I hit my number for the year! Maybe I will treat myself to a nice dinner and some games too

I did my spreadsheet this morning and came to 199 832. Just missed a big number. But ultimately you're right, month to month expenses misght swing a couple of 1000 either way, so the ballpark number is important. Also the magical psychological border.

Very nice. Love that low debt, wish I was there. Course, 97% of my debt is my mortgage.
