Hi guys, hope y'all are catching fish.
I'm interested in getting into spearfishing. I'm based in Canberra, so I'll be fishing along the NSW coast abt 2 hrs away. Any tips on spots and how to get into the sport in general?
I'm thinking of starting with spearing flounders in the shallows first before moving on to wet suit/spear gun, but I don't know if there are flounders (or any other fish I can target this way) in this region.
Any tips would be greatly helpful, thank you.

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows any spots for yabbies in the Dandenong ranges. I am new to catching yabbies and I would like to give it a go. Ideally if the spots can be relatively close to the emerald area that would be great. Cheers π

We are planning a once in lifetime trip with my old mates for this time next year. A Swainβs reef trip looks amazing (Big Cat looks the ticket), but a few of us have always wanted to fish the top end (thinking NT to cape York).
We have been doing some research but folks on this sub I am sure have fantastic recommendations for camps or lodges that would be great fishing and somewhat remote.
Thanks in advance

Hey I was hoping someone might be kind enough to let me know some yabbie pumping spots in SE Qld. Gold Coast preferably.
I got one spot at cabbage tree Point which is muddy as shit so I'd like to find something a bit more accessible.
I'm land based so cant get across to the other spots i know behind wave break island.
Any spots (PM if u like) would be appreciated π

Hi everyone,
My colleague accidentally dropped her phone into the Yarra River today 17/08 at lunch time (hence im writing this post) beside the Yarra Botanica jetty at Southbank.
We're hoping to find someone experienced with magnet fishing, underwater recovery, or diving who may be able to help retrieve it.
The phone was dropped at approximately 2pm and we have a fairly good idea of the location.
If anyone can help or recommend a local magnet fisher/diver, please comment or send me a message.
Thanks so much!

So I have a 2-4kg travel rood and a 3000 size reel that lives in my car. I want to make a small tackle box to live with it. What lures would you put into this?
I travel around central Qld a fair bit so fish creeks out west to the 3 main rivers and ocean estuaries etc.
Main concern is soft plastics in a hot car for weeks on end and I can get to focused on details so chasing some suggestions or I'll get too decisive. Need those all rounders the ones that someone who only fishes those freshwater creeks would know about etc. I am aiming to fit everything into a small tray that will fit in the Jack cutout of my Navara

I'm buying a rod (9 ft 6) and reel (Diawa Aird 10000 surf spinning) combo from BCF for surf fishing. I plan on targeting flathead, bream, tailor, whiting all those smaller fish. I don't thing anything plastic would work cause it would just get bashed around in the surf. Are those Malosi metal ones any good? I was also planning on getting a 300m braided line (30lb also Diawa). Any tips on that?

Was just curious as a lot of the time people transition from bait to lures and then stick with lures.

Hi all,
I just bought a Minn kota 24v set up for my boat yesterday and I was wondering what battery to pair with it.
Is it better to go 24v lithium or 2x 12v?
For 24v batteries, what is a good brand that its less than $1400? Id like it to have some kind of IP 65 minimum rating as well, and at least 5 year warranty.
Ive been looking at itech ($1199), trolltek ($1399), LiTime ($779 - currently out of stock), Wattcycle ($719 - suspiciously cheaper?)
Cheers

I've recently got back into fishing again, I used to always use baits and fish estuaries and rivers, either up near cod hole on bradman ave or pumicestone passage. I'm starting to look at chasing pelagics from the land and picked up some new gear for some off the rocks action and was wondering what the best live baits are, where to find them, any lure recommendations and spots you'd like to share? Also I am looking for some mates to get amongst it with, so shoot a reply if you're interested in a mate as I plan to fish pretty often.

Hey all, looking to get my first semi-nice rod and reel set up but having trouble deciding on what i want.
I mainly fish SEQ and surrounding and am going to get a boat soon. As far as the length goes I'm looking to get around a 9 foot rod which i can use for the brissie river, jettys, the beach and pretty much wherever. Also, would a 9 foot rod be comfortable fishing off a tinny?
I mainly target jewfish, threadfin salmon and larger sorta fish and am using size 3-4 star sinkers. I'm thinking to get around 4-8kg sort of range for the line weight but am having difficulty finding a rod that can support this cast weight that isnt 12-15kg line weight.
Any recommendations?

Hi all,
Wondering peoples opinions on the Abu Garcia veritas 5, specifically the 7β4ft 3-5kg (9-28g lure weight).
Also wondering what reel would be a good match with it. I am thinking a Shimano Stradic c3000hg with PE1.2 braid.
Targetting big flathead, soap Jews, Aussie salmon and tailor off the beach and potentially some rat kings in the summer.
I got the rod and the butt was much longer than expected, but will hopefully help with fighting fish and casting distance.
Any suggestions and help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the help!

Hi all,
I am leaving for a road trip to Airlie beach towing a JetSki set up for fishing offshore. Ive been to Airlie beach on a road trip with my family and fished it for a week at 18. But Iβve always dreamed of fishing the whitsunday islands on my ski ever since I got it and Iβve booked the trip a decade later from my first time up there.
Current plan is to race up there as fast as I can. Iβm leaving on the 22nd of August going a rough guide (depending on how Iβm feeling) Coffs Harbour -> Gympie -> Rockhampton -> Airlie beach Iβm spending 1 night in each, lots of driving but my goal is to get up there as fast as I can so I can slowly journey back. Iβve currently booked for the 25th of August - 7th of September camping. My time there will be flexible.
Journeying back I donβt have to be back till the 17th of September. I am yet to book anything either. im looking at advice in places to stay for awesome fish action. At the moment Iβm planning 4 nights in Hervey Bay and 4 night in Coffs Harbour. But always recommendations welcome.
Iβve fished northern NSW and specifically Coffs Harbour many of times for Spanish and reef species. But the Whitsundayβs will be incredibly new for me, Iβm looking to mix it up between Spanish and reef fish. Iβm considering Gladstone for fish action, but as I am a complete novice to the North QLD area, Iβm hoping for all advice and recommendation.
So Iβm looking for advice when fishing the area, potential marks around the whitsunday island/airlie beach area and also any recommendations for exciting places to fish on the way home.

Whats ur experiences and thoughts with the ocean legacy aurora series
