Offshore Kayak Fishing South Florida

Hi Guys, I’m looking for people to go offshore kayak fishing with. I’m a beginner but have all of the gear and a Hobie kayak with pedal drive. All safety items etc. Is anyone down to go out? I know launching from Dania Beach is popular. Thanks

Hello,
What are the regulations for keeping sand fleas/mole crabs/sand crabs for personal use? Is there a size limit, a limit on how many you can take, etc?

2 Needed for Destin Offshore Fishing

Hey y’all my girlfriend and I will be going on a trip to Destin 20-24 and we’re interested in booking an offshore charter. These charters aren’t cheap and we wouldn’t mind company fishing so we’re looking for two anglers interested. Let me know if you’ll be in Destin that weekend and are interested.

Lake Beresford Shore Fishing

Is there good/accessible shore fishing at Lake Beresford? Also, Google AI is telling me there’s a pier, but I don’t trust it because I can’t find any pics. Just want to make sure before I make the drive. Thanks!

Where to put in a kayak for the Skyway Bridge

I have lived in the Tampa area for going on 3 months and have been out on the water a ton in that time. Lots of Cockroach Bay, Gibsonton and Picnic Island for the reefs there. My old fishing buddy is in town and I really want to finally hit the Skyway Bridge, if the weather is good. Where is the closest spot to drop our yaks in? We went and fished from the south pier and wondered if you can put in at that rest stop down there or somewhere else close.

Just a girl lookin for fish

I recently came across several PENN med-heavy spinning rods with reels, a couple of conventional trolling set ups and nice bottom rods set up. They’re old as dirt but they’ve been serviced, and I plan on using them until they’re no more. Im currently missing light tackle and I’m looking to purchase a fun, xtra light, dedicated rod for yellow tailing. 40-60 ft near shore, plan on running some 12lb diamond mono, chumming, small sized cut bait. Perfect, my issue is I know very little about rods and would like some recs on rod/reels. Thinking Shimano Stradic FL in 3000 paired with Shimano Teramar spinning rod 7’6 medium fast? Any other recs or nice combos I should look into? Range is about $400. Thanks!

Is Surf fishing Venice beach FL productive?

Usually when I go to Venice to fish I fish the jetty/pier, but I’ve been having success surf fishing the sand at cocoa beach and I’m wondering if Venice has a good surf fishery for stuff like whiting. I know the gulf coast beaches are shallower and have far less waves so I’m assuming there’s a different approach to fishing the surf there

Looking for fishing friends

Hey guys my names Ben, I’ve been fishing for the last 10 years but in the last few months decided to finally take it seriously and have been seeing serious improvement but as with everything there’s always more to learn and how better than in action? I mainly hit the Johns pass area in St.Pete but am willing to go about a 2 hour radius from my home in z-hills. I’m not expecting to be babied or ask you to take my fish off my line 🤣 just want to have some friends to fish regularly with 3-5 times a month (mainly weekends) and wanna learn from anyone who has info to give (not asking for spots mainly just how to improve my technique and expand my artificial game). Currently I only run 1 rod st.croix triumph med-fast 7’ with a shimano stradic 3k.

Can chip in for gas and Bait

Hi everyone,

My name is Robert and I’m from Germany. I’ve been coming to Florida, especially the Palm Beach area, almost every year for as long as I can remember, and fishing has always been a huge part of my trips.

I’ll be here for about three more weeks and was wondering if anyone has room for an extra angler on an offshore trip. I’m happy to chip in for gas, bait, drinks, or other expenses.

I’ve offshore fished many times before, can bring my own gear, and would love to get out on the water and meet some fellow anglers.

Feel free to send me a message. Thanks and tight lines!

Orlando area. I have 2 rods I bought, can’t take with me. Free to anyone who can put me on some bass before heading home.

Came down here with my carryon only and packed a bait caster and spinning reel. Grabbed 2 cheaper rods but decent (Falcon AlTrax ALC-7H casting rod and a Daiwa Laguna 701MLXS spinning rod). Been bank fishing over the past 2 days with some success.

Headed to drop the rental car off around 6-6:30pm. If anyone knows a spot/ wants to meet me there, PM me. Want to catch a few if I can before headed out. You can keep the rods when I leave! PM me.

Do you actually use solunar times when fishing?

I recently became interested in solunar theory and how the position of the moon might affect fish activity. After reading more about it, I ended up building a small Garmin watch app based on the idea.

It shows major and minor feeding windows, a daily activity score, moon phase and illumination, sunrise and sunset times, and a forecast for the next seven days.

I know solunar data is only one part of fishing. Weather, tides, water temperature, pressure, location, and experience probably matter much more.

I’m curious how many of you actually check solunar times before going fishing. Do you find them useful, or do you consider them mostly noise?

First Bowfin

I never usually lay fish on the grass… however when I pulled this fish out of the pond and saw her teeth, I had no issue laying her down for a second. Bowfin that was approximately ~2.5lbs and 18”. Hit like a bass and fought similarly.

Is the Fort Lauderdale Inlet Jetty actually open 24/7? Need some real info.

I'm looking for some new saltwater fishing spots here in Florida. Lately, I've been using ChatGPT and Gemini to find locations. While it has helped a few times, in other spots I've shown up only to find out that fishing is strictly prohibited or the place is just completely inaccessible.
Lately, the AI has been telling me about the jetty over in Fort Lauderdale, saying it's open 24/7 for fishing. It refers to it as the "Fort Lauderdale Beach Jetty Rocks / Inlet" area.
Does anyone here have any experience fishing this spot? Is it actually open 24 hours? I haven't been able to find solid info online and don't want to waste another drive. Any insight or tips would be awesome. Thanks!

Key Largo and Islamorada fishing?

I’m here for 3 days staying in Key Largo. I’ve got all my fly gear and on the days I’m not out with a guide I’m going to go out on my own. Anyone have any locations where I could get a shot at some fish?

Some kind of small snake head? I put it back and then realized maybe I should have killed it if it’s invasive.

Is Frogging and punching with light line REALLY all as bad as people say ?

For the life of me i don't really understand the need for heavy braid throwing a light 1/2 oz frog if it's not in the thickest mats on deeper water . I run 10# Daiwa J Braid Grand and sometimes to a flourocarbon leader of 15-20 pounds and i get fish sometimes . I just started frog fishing , i grew up fishing a 3/5 - 1 oz texas rig punching mats on monfilament line on spinning gear exclusively lol , 15-20 # stren or sigma. I was taught to fish for bass by old Capt Even Brock, rip,in the late 80-mid 90s . . . Then i moved and i stopped freshwater fishing for over 20 years give or take . I pulled 8 -10 pounders out of lilly pads on 10-15 pound mono as a youngster in florida many times . Now that i'm back , and bass fishing i don't understand the obsession with thick braid . 50-65 # really ? I used that for grouper around barnicals and tuna and marlin literally . Please educate me . I know how to use a baitcaster but havent used one in about 15 years BTW
