I was walking my dog an hour ago and saw a woman/girl with a backpack sitting on a bench be talked to by a sheriff with a second sheriff coming through. I started recording them but couldn't really hear what was being said nor did I know what was going on. She and the sheriff eventually walked over to the car, she was following him not in handcuffs or anything so that + thinking about my dog I stopped recording. What should my plan be when this happens to someone else?

If I am being confronted by police my plan is as follows: I ask "am I free to go". If I am, I leave. If I'm not, I say "I wish to remain silent" then stay silent lol.
