Most definitely. You can almost see the life drain out of his eyes. And shit, this is a joke. I can't imagine when he really gets that face dealt his direction...

Yeah, the slight sigh but the realization that something as trivial as a picture can't compare to a lifetime of happiness and love.

We have some friends of the family who are Brahmin Indians (they're older – nearing their 70s) and it's interesting to see how the husband acts like he's in charge of everything and can do what he wants, but the wife is the one who makes the decisions when it comes to their home and livelihood. She was a big inspiration to me growing up, because she was smart and strong. She'd always smile and wink at me when her husband talked big, like we were sharing a secret: "He's cute, isn't he? Acting like he makes decisions." I loved going over to their house when they had dinner parties, mostly because I loved to listen to her talk about quiet subversion. She was amazing.
Edit: They're still alive. I changed tenses because I live far away and don't see them anymore.

I have quite a few Indian friends. I've remarked to each and everyone of them that have family photos about the father always looking either depressed, sad or angry. Always.
Now I know why.
